Website links from EMIS Protocol To create a protocol – go to ‘Template Manager’ or ‘Resource Publisher’ (depending on which EMIS module you are currently running / have installed)
Click on the ‘Add’ button and then click on ‘Protocol’ from the drop down menu
This will open up a blank workspace with a ‘start’ point from where we can create a protocol.
1
From the ‘Decision Nodes’ menu on the left panel ‘left-mouse click and drag’ an ‘End Protocol’ terminator on to the workspace (see below
Next click on the ‘Action Nodes’ menu to display the various actions that can be added to your protocol. From the menu on the left panel ‘left-mouse click and drag’ a ‘Display text’ option on to the workspace somewhere between the ‘Start’ and ‘End’ points.
2
Once you release the mouse button, the text editor box will display and you can type in text and websites that you wish to display (*note for websites as you start typing ‘www.’ It will automatically conver it to a ‘link format’) You can edit the text size / colour / font from the options in the editor
Some examples you could link to
3
Click ‘OK’ when you have finished editing the text - and you should now have a workspace protocol something like below.
Next we need to join the start and finish points with arrows to enable EMIS to know the flow of the protocol – this is easy for this small protocol as you simply need to left mouse click on the ‘start’ icon in the workspace and then move over the blue heading of the ‘display text’ box and release the button. This will create an arrow linking the 2 icons’ Repeat this process ‘left mouse clicking’ from the arrow in the ‘display text’ box and move it over the ‘End protocol’ icon and again release to create the arrow link.
This protocol can now be saved by selecting ‘Save & close’ from the EMIS Ribbon. Save it in a logical location with a meaningful name (I have chosen ‘Useful websites’)
Adding the Protocol to the F12 protocol launch menu
4
Press F12 button on keyboard within EMIS and this should launch the ‘Protocol Launcher’ pop-up menu. ‘right-mouseclick on an unused ‘letter’ option and choose ‘Add’ from the pop-up menu
A ‘protocol Picker’ menu will pop up and you can enter the name you gave to your protocol in the search box. Once found ‘double left-mouse click’ it to select the protocol
This will add it to the list and be available to pick quickly for this user whenever the ‘F12’ key is pressed (*Please note every user will need to follow these steps to add it to their own ‘protocol launcher’)
When launched the protocol will look something like the below Pressing ‘OK’ closes the box from the screen.
