The first half of the season finished with the completion of the Cup Competition. Light Blues had already qualified from Group 1 after their two wins earlier in the season but either the Dark Blues or Whites could take second place and earn a semifinal match against the winners of Group 2. Despite Greens having two wins in Group 2, it was feasible that they could fail to qualify if they went down to a heavy defeat by Yellow Tigers and Ambers beat the Maroons in similar fashion. The first two games in the Group phase were Dark Blues and Whites at the School End and Maroons and Ambers playing on the Tudor End pitch. Both games were delayed due to the heavy frost and when they finally started the first halves were both 0-0. Dark Blues took an early lead in the second half with a goal by Danny Jenkinson and this was followed by a half shot by Aidan Chapman from the halfway line that beat the goalkeeper. Dark Blues 2 Whites 0 was the final score. Mention should be made of Ross Butland who came close to scoring on several occasions for the Whites and Nick Charlier who played really well in goal. The Maroons were favourites in their game against the Ambers but the Ambers were tenacious and could have been three goals up in the first half. The break-through came in the second half when Ambers went one up. Now Ambers were dependent on the result between Greens and Yellow Tigers. This was a great game to watch as both sides battled hard, the Greens knew that a draw would ensure they qualified as Group Winners and play Dark Blues in the Semi-Final, and Yellow Tigers knew that victory was the only result that counted. Both sides came close to scoring but no one was able to put the ball in the net. It would be hard to single out any of the players because they all worked hard however Rhys Steele played exceptionally well in the Greens defence as did Alistair Mannering for Yellow Tigers. In the game between Stripes and Light Blues Tilly Snow scored a great goal for the Stripes but they still lost 4-1 as Elliott Baveystock got his hat-trick and Ross McIntosh hit one. The Semi-Final line up was Dark Blues vs. Greens and Light Blues vs. Ambers. On paper it was expected that the final would be between Dark Blues and Light Blues as they both had dominated the League. Greens have been improving in the last few weeks and only lost by 2 goals to 1 in their last encounter with Dark Blues. In the first half it was a fairly even game and it was not until Anthony Boca scored his first competitive goal of the season for the Dark Blues that the deadlock was broken. In the second half the Dark Blues were on top form and goals from Fred Mikardo-Greaves, Danny and Quinn Jenkinson and Aidan Chapman secured them a place in the Final, Blues winning 5-0. In the other Semi-Final it was a different story as Ambers were determined to reach the

final and Light Blues equally so as they wanted to meet the Dark Blues who had pipped them for the League the previous Saturday. This was an exciting game marred by two controversial penalty decisions in the second half, the first was more clear cut as the ball was handled in the area the second was unfortunate as the Light Blue player was protecting his face from a shot towards the goal area. The first was converted and meant that Ambers had taken a 1-0 lead. Ross McIntosh worked tirelessly to get Light Blues back in the game but the Ambers defended well. A lapse in concentration saw a great through ball pounced on by Elliott Baveystock who rifled it into the back of the net. The game looked set for extra time but the second penalty, which was well saved by the Light Blues goalkeeper, rebounded back to Rebecca Dolce who was perfectly placed to score. The final score 2-1. Ambers had reached the Cup Final. Before the Final there were two Friendlies, Maroons and Whites, which saw a six-man Maroon side score 5 goals, three from Sam Hillier and two from Danny Alderton. In the other game Yellow Tigers defeated Stripes 3-0 with goals from Ashley Williams returning after a broken arm, Mark Nicholls and Alistair Mannering. The final was played on the Tudor End pitch, which by now resembled a ploughed field. Both sides started well with George Brown-Griffiths in goal for the Dark Blues and Joe Hirsch for the Ambers having excellent games. Dark Blues took the lead in the first-half with a fine goal from Fred Mikardo-Greaves. In the second-half both sides worked tirelessly but one could see that playing three games was having an effect not helped by the clinging mud in the centre of the pitch. Ambers always looked likely to score and so it proved with a great goal from Ambers after poor defensive play by Dark Blues. The game was poised to go either way as both sides sought to score. The Dark Blues scored first with another goal from Danny Jenkinson making the final score 2-1 to Dark Blues. They had achieved a League and Cup double. The Chairman of Kingston Little League conducted the prize giving. All players who had not received a trophy as a winner or runners up in a competition received medals. SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON The second-half of the season will begin on Saturday 12 January with a series of Trial Games as new teams will be formed to create two 6 team Leagues. This means some players will move to new teams. The aim is for each team to start with nine players, which will allow for 12 new players to be added later, one to each team. The Leagues will be: Tudor End Division - Oranges, Stripes, Greens, Red Hoops, Reds and Whites. School End Division - Ambers, Light Blues, Dark Blues, Blue Hoops, Yellow Tigers and Maroons. 8th December 2001

Tom plays for Greens

The last League games of the first half of the 7-A-Side season were played in blazing sunshine and the final top of the table positions were decided in the last game on the School End Pitch. In the first two games of the morning, the Whites held the Maroons to a 1-1 draw with goals from George Corcoran for Whites and Danny Alderton for the Maroons. In the other games the Yellow Tigers won 5-0, the real damage being done in the first half with two goals each for Harry Maguire and Mark Nichols, this was followed by a 5th goal late in the second half, and against the run of play, from Jack Roberts. Stripes battled hard in the second half and deserved to score but it was not to be. The next two games were won by Dark Blues (The Scalphunters) and Greens. The Dark Blues went 1-0 down to a fine goal by White’s Jack Palmer but late in the first half Oliver Futcher equalised for Dark Blues. In the second half both Danny and Quinn Jenkinson scored to make the score 3-1 in favour of the Dark Blues. In the other game Miles Blenkinsop scored two goals in the Greens 2-0 win against the Stripes. The Greens are a much improved team since their early defeats and have become much more difficult to beat. Yellow Tigers then played the Ambers in a game that ended 1-1 with Harry Maguire on target again for the Yellow and Matthew McLoughlin scoring for the Ambers. The surprise came in the game between Light Blues and Maroons. The game started quite evenly with excellent defending by the Maroons back line of Catherine Alderton, Polly Lambert and Annie Kennedy. Maroons then took the lead from a goal by Sam Hillier. Light Blues were then unlucky not to score when a ball came back from post into the goalkeepers hands. There followed three extraordinary own-goals, all as results of throw-in’s by Danny Alderton, two in the first half and a final one in the second. The result 4-0 to Maroons. This meant that a win for the Light Blues in their final game could win them the League with their superior goal difference. On the Tudor End Pitch the Ambers and Greens fought out a 2-2 draw with goals from Rebecca Dolce and Phillip McLoughlin for the Ambers and Rory Cole and Miles Blenkinsop for the Greens. The main interest however was in the game between Light Blues and Dark Blues. A draw was enough for the Dark Blues but the Light Blues had to win. The game started well with both sides creating chances but Aidan Chapman, Oliver Clements and Joanna Southcombe were playing well together at the heart of the Dark Blues defence. The

game remained even until Fred Mikardo-Greaves scored putting Dark Blues into the lead leaving Light Blues needing two goals. In the second-half the game was still evenly matched but Oliver Futcher and Alexander Charlton took over the stoic defending that had enabled the Dark Blues to lead 1-0 at half-time. Ross McIntosh never gave up in his attempts to get Light Blues back into the game. Dark Blues then added three more goals, the first from Oliver Clements, the second a header from Danny Jenkinson and the final goal from Quinn Jenkinson. Dark Blues finished 4-0 and had won the 7-ASide League. These two teams can potentially play in the 7-A-Side Cup Final which takes place on Saturday 15th December at 12:00pm. First of course they have to secure their places in the Semi-Finals and win that game.

When I looked outside at 8 a.m. I did not think that any matches would be played as the rain lashed down and my garden appeared a quagmire. The first game was scheduled to begin at 09:30 and not surprisingly telephone calls were coming thick and fast to see if the fixtures had been cancelled. Luckily the weather changed and at the start of play it was a fine drizzle and both pitches were playable. After the first game, which was won 2-0 by Whites with goals from George Corcoran and Ross Butland in the first half, the sun came out and there were some excellent games played. The Dark Blues (Scalphunters) had to battle hard against the Ambers and the 4-1 scoreline in their favour was perhaps not a true reflection of the opportunities that Ambers had but could not convert to goals. Quinn Jenkinson scored twice and Fred MikardoGreaves and Oliver Clements one each with Rebecca Dolce getting the Ambers consolation goal. At the Tudor End Maroons won 3-0 against the Stripes with goals from Sam Hillier and Joe Jones (2 - one from the penalty spot). The Light Blues ran amok in their game against the Whites, scoring nine goals for the second time this season in a game. The scorers were: Tom Bradley (3), Elliot Baveystock (2), Ben Hudson (2), Ross McIntosh and Oliver Healy. Those two 9-0 victories have meant that they now have a +10 goal

difference over the Dark Blues, which will not be overcome with only two games remaining. Dark Blues struggled in the first half against Greens who took the lead with a goal by Max Templar, unfortunately they were unable to prevent Dark Blues getting back into the game and eventually winning 2-1 with goals by Quinn and Danny Jenkinson. Light Blues won their second game against Ambers (our team of the week) 4-0, goals were scored by Ross McIntosh (2), Elliott Baveystock and Ben Hudson. Maroons concluded their day with a 10 win over the Yellow Tigers with a goal from Danny Alderton. The last game was between Greens and Yellow Tigers and there is no doubt that this was a very good game with both teams working tirelessly. Greens took the lead with a goal in the first-half by Max Templar. In the second-half the Yellow Tigers stormed back with a great equaliser from Harry Maguire as the Greens were unable to convert two chances that might have gone in had the goalmouth not resembled a mud pool. Rory Cole played exceptionally well in goal for the Greens and kept them in the game as Yellow Tigers looked for a winning goal. Greens battled back and Miles Blenkinsop scored a great goal to restore their lead. Yellow Tigers threw caution to the wind and surged forward to get an equaliser at the end but Miles broke away after a goal mouth clearance and scored his second to give Greens a 3-1 win.

Football is a funny game. Dark Blues played extremely well in their opening game against Stripes but heroic defending by the Stripes and a first class goal keeping display meant that the points were shared. Stripes then faced Light Blues and certainly deserved to get a point but were unlucky in the end to lose 1-0. Oliver Healy scoring despite brave goalkeeping from Oliver Clark who could not prevent the ball crossing the line. On the School End pitch the Greens run of good form continued with a draw against Whites followed by a 1-0 win against Maroons, Max Templer grabbing the only goal of the game. Tom Edney scored his third goal of the season against Whites, the reply coming from Ross Butland. Ambers defeated the Whites 2-0 with goals from Phillip McLoughlin and Edwin Brooks. Against Yellow Tigers the Dark Blues once again took a 2-0 lead with good goals from Quinn Jenkinson and Aidan Chapman, but the Yellow Tigers never gave up and pressed forward continuously. Their efforts were rewarded with two great goals from Harry Maguire. In the end they were unfortunate not to win. Maroons recorded a 4-2 win against the Ambers which was from all accounts a very good game of football. Danny Alderton and Sam Hillier shared the goals for the Maroons and Phillip McLoughlin was on target twice for Ambers. Maroons are the Team of the Week. In the last game on the Tudor End pitch Light Blues came away with a 1-0 win with a goal from Ben Hudson. This was a game that was well fought by both sides. The Yellow Tigers with only one substitute available tired slightly in the second-half, and it was very late in the game when Light Blues scored their winner. That win meant that Light Blues are on top of the league on goal difference and it still looks likely that the final outcome will be dependent on the last game, but Dark Blues cannot afford to drop points in the remaining games as Light Blues appear on paper to have the easier matches in the

run up to the Cup Day. Maroon's Sam

20th November 2001 Another Saturday successfully concluded and although Light Blues (in their Orange Strip) and Dark Blues continue to jostle for the top spot separated only by two points, it looks set for this half of the season to go to the final League game on Saturday 8th December. On that day the teams play each other in the last game on the School-End Pitch. Of course both sides still have 5 more games to play before that encounter and, as we all know, football is a funny game and anything can happen. 7's Co-ordinator Kevin Galvin

The results this Saturday prove that there will always be unexpected results. The Stripes who have not had the best of seasons have defended extremely well over the last few Saturday’s without reward for their endeavours. Earning two draws, they took two points from their games with Ambers and Greens and may have been unlucky not to have won one or either of them. In the 1-1 draw with Greens, Tom Edney netted his second goal of the season for the Greens. Yellow Tigers earned a point in their game with Maroons, the result 2-2. Sam Hillier and Danny Alderton both scored for Maroons. Yellow Tigers were unable to get a result against the Light Blues who won the game 2-0 with goals from Elliott Baveystock and Tom Bradley. Dark Blues and Ambers had a close game, with Dark Blues ending up winning thanks to goals from Fred Mikardo-Greaves and Danny Jenkinson. Danny Jenkinson was on target again in the game against the Greens, which was 0-0 at half-time. Danny then scored all four in the Dark Blues 4-0 win. The Maroons took both points in the 2-1 win against the Whites. Danny Alderton was once again on target with two goals. Whites had no success against the Light Blues who ran out 5-1 winners with goals from Elliott Baveystock (3), Tom Bradley and Ross McIntosh.

Once more matches were played in glorious sunshine and the clash of the top three ended with each side sharing the spoils.

Although both the Light Blues and Maroons picked up a point each with their victories in other games. Dark Blues (The Scalphunters), this week's team of the week, remain on top by two clear points - goal difference may yet play a major role in the final positions. In the first game Dark Blues took the lead with a fine goal by Aidan Chapman, but one can never give Danny Alderton space and he put the Maroons back in the game just after half-time and added a second soon afterwards. Maroons defended extremely well and looked like taking both points when, in the last minute, a Maroon defender handled the ball in the area and gifted Dark Blues a penalty which was calmly slotted home by Danny Jenkinson. The result 2-2. The next game Dark Blues v Light Blues was equally as entertaining. This time the Light Blues took the lead with an excellent goal by Elliott Baveystock. They probably would have scored more had George Brown-Griffiths not been on top form in goal for the Dark Blues. In the second half Ollie Futcher took over in goal for Dark Blues and was equally as heroic. Dark Blue pressure finally paid off with a goal from Fred Mikardo-Greaves and the final score ended 1-1. On the School End pitch the Yellow Tigers and Ambers played a great game that ended nil-nil, with both sides having numerous chances to score. The next game was between Whites and Ambers and there was some exciting play before Ross Butland scored to break the deadlock and give Whites a 1-0 victory and move one place higher in the table. The remaining two games on the Tudor End pitch ended with victories for both Maroons and Light Blues in their respective games against the Stripes, although the margin of victory was only 1-0 and 2-0. Stripes are playing much better defensively but are still not scoring goals. The Yellow Tigers beat the Greens 4-1, Max Templar getting Green's Goal. Many might have expected the Whites to be the favourites in the last game against the Greens but they were in for a surprise as Greens recorded their first victory in the league 3 goals to 1, Miles Blenkinsop scoring one and Max Templar grabbing the other two.

Maroon v Light Blue

White's Goalkeeper

At the School End Maroons scored three in their defeat of the Ambers but it was not as one sided as the scoreline suggests. Maroon goal scorers were Danny Alderton, Sam Hillier and Max Wallder. Having taken a two goal lead with goals from Ben Hudson and Tom Bradley, the Light Blues (still playing in their away strip of Orange) then allowed the Maroons back into the next game with two great strikes by Danny Alderton. The final result was 2-2. At the Tudor End the first game between Whites (our team of the week) and Stripes could have gone either way but in the last minute Ross Butland scored a great goal to earn the Whites victory by 1-0. Ambers having lost the first game won the second against Greens 1-0 with a goal from Rebecca Dolce. Ambers will be sponsored during the rest of the season by Delta PC Services. Yellow Tigers beat the Stripes 2-0 with two goals from Harry Maguire. The Dark Blues played the Whites and although the half-time score of 4-0 in favour of the Dark Blues made the game look one-sided it was not, and Whites had numerous opportunities to score. Dark Blues scorers were Quinn Jenkinson (3) and Oliver Clements. In the second half the Whites produced some excellent football and were unlucky not to score on several occasions. Both Goal Keepers played exceptionally well. In the final two games Light Blues defeated the Greens 90 with Elliott Baveystock scoring six and in the game between Dark Blues and Yellow Tigers the final score was 3-2 to the Dark Blues. Dark Blues took a two goal lead with goals from Fred Mikardo-Greaves and Danny Jenkinson but Yellow Tigers stormed back with two goals of their own, one either side of half-time and it was a tense last 10 minutes as both sides battled for a winner. Harry Maguire who came on as substitute was close to scoring on a number of occasions. In the end it was a goal from Quinn Jenkinson that gave Dark Blues their win. They remain top of the League but play both their close rivals next Saturday.

The Cup Finals were played in glorious sunshine and spectators were entertained with some first class football. The Cup day is always more emotive than the normal League days as there has to be winners and losers on the way to the final. In the end the final was contested by the two teams who had topped the School End Division and they ensured that we had a thrilling final. It was decided by two excellent goals and exceptional goalkeeping; more on that later.

Quarter-finals Yellow Tigers - Double Winners Spring 2002

Red, Tudor End League Winners

The first two quarter-finals could have been won by any of the four sides that contested them. Both games were decided by that little bit of luck that a team needs to force a result. At the Tudor End the Reds threw everything into the game and were unlucky not to have scored two or three goals, Sam Alred coming closest after putting the ball just over the cross bar. However an in-swinging corner from the Yellow Tigers late in the second half came off defender and goalkeeper to cross the line giving them the lead against the run of play. Reds battled for an equaliser but despite coming close they were unable to score. Ashley Williams had another good game in defence for the Tigers and Asher Nelson worked hard for the Reds in the second-half, as did Ellis and Ross Radford. The final result was 1-0 to the Tigers. The Light Blues and Whites had a similar tussle, with both goalkeepers in action and some good counter-attacking football. In the end it took a goalkeeper to separate the two teams when Chris Bolster putting the ball into the Whites goalmouth from a drop kick, saw it bounce and be pushed under the bar to give Light Blues a 1-0 win and place in the semi-final.

The next pair of quarter-finals saw Red Hoops fight hard to hold a stronger Dark Blue (The Scalphunters) team and at half time they were separated by a single goal scored

by Fred Mikardo-Greaves. Red Hoops defended well but could never penetrate the Dark Blue defence and in the second-half Matthew Galvin almost lobbed the goalkeeper before Red Hoops fell further behind to an Aidan Chapman goal. Dark Blues won the game 2-0 to meet Light Blues in the semi-finals. For Red Hoops there were very good games for Charlie Takhar, Tom Pace, Alex Pearce-Wilson and Gregory Adams. The latter has become an accomplished goalkeeper since returning from injury before Christmas. Greens versus Delta PC Ambers looked an even game on paper and either side could have won with action at both ends. Max Templer scored the only goal to give Green a 1-0 victory and a semi-final against the Yellow Tigers. Friendlies There were then the customary friendlies for those who had finished in third place in their respective cup groups. Blue Hoops played the Oranges and comprehensively won 7-0 with goals for Sebastian Farnell-Lewis (2), Quinn and Danny Jenkinson (3) and Max Daly. Stripes defeated the Maroons 2-1 with goals from Killian O’Brian, his first of the season and Michael Donnelly in the first half. Sam Hillier hit the Maroon's goal in the second-half. Semi-finals The semi-finals saw the Dark Blues defeat the Light Blues 3-0. The first goal from Aidan Chapman was the turning point in this game just at the start of the second-half, Matthew Gatesthen scored his first goal. The final goal was a glancing header scored by Fred Mikardo-Greaves from a well delivered free kick into the area. Elliott Baveystock came close for the Light Blues. The other semi-final saw Yellow Tigers play some first class football, which gave them a three nil lead by half-time thanks to goals from Mark Nicholls, Alistair Mannering and Tom Harrison. In the second half the Greens were unable to make up the deficit and fell further behind with Mark Nicholls getting his second before Tom Edney grabbed a consolation goal. Once again Ashley Williams played well in the Tiger defence. The final result was 4-1 to the Tigers and a place in the Final against the Dark Blues. Friendlies Before the Cup final there were two more sets of friendly games Blue Hoops played the Whites and won 3-1 with two goals for Max Daly and one for Quinn Jenkinson. Stripes defeated Reds 4 -2 with Matthew Flynn hitting two goals after they had taken the lead with a Michael Donnelly penalty. Reds replied with goals from Adam Wicks. Asher Nelson and Jack Field played well for the Reds, who gave Sam Alred a game in goal. Oranges then recorded a 1-0 win over a strong Ambers side with a well struck goal from Alec Halse and defended hard to preserve their win and end the season on a high. Edward Charlton played well in the Orange goal in the absence of their usual goalkeeper and Matt Francis played well in midfield. Joe Hirsh played a rare game out of goal for the Ambers. In the other friendly Maroons defeated Red Hoops 4-0 with 2 goals from Sam Hillier and 1 each for Max Wallder and Jordan Reynolds. 7 a Side Reports April 2002

Well over 200 spectators witnessed the final and it started with a bang with a brilliantly taken goal by Mark Nicholls in the second minute. Dark Blues then put considerable pressure on the Yellow Tigers with Aidan Chapman, Fred-Mikardo-Greaves, Matthew Ewing and Matthew Gates all going close but thwarted by good defending by Alistair Mannering, Tom Harrison, Robert Payne, Jack Lockwood and Ashley Williams and superb goal keeping by Alex Dulovic. The Tigers also went close themselves and George Brown-Griffiths made some good saves from Alistair Mannering as well as receiving good defensive support from Joanna Southcombe and Alexander Charlton. In the second half the Dark Blues sought an early equaliser and were perhaps unlucky not to get it but the Tigers goalkeeper maintained his first half form and pulled off some more excellent saves. Oliver Clements and Oliver Futcher came on at half-time and played very well in Dark Blues defence but were caught out by a slick move started by Mark Nicholls and Jake Lavender before Tom Harrison blasted the ball past a stranded George Brown-Griffiths. Dark Blues never gave up and Anthony Boca worked tirelessly with Fred Mikardo-Greaves to get them back in the game and Aidan Chapman tested Alec Dulovic in goal on a number of occasions with long range shots and free kicks on target but to no avail as the Tigers held on to win 2-0, completing a League and Cup double, emulating last years Tigers. Presentations The Little League Chairman Brian Hunt carried out the presentation of trophies and medals. Medals were presented to all teams who had not won a trophy as winners or runners-up in the various League and Cup Competitions. 13th April 2002 The final league games of the season were played out on hard pitches with a biting wind, the occasional shower and some sunshine. In the Tudor End Division the game between Greens and Red ended 1-1 ensuring that, unless they went on to concede 10 goals in their last game against Whites (a game they ultimately won 3-1) Reds won the division, so many congratulations to them. There were some tough games in the School End Division and final positions were not decided until the last game. Its congratulations then to Yellow Tigers who deservedly won the title having lost a key player when he moved to the U11's. He will still receive a trophy as he played a major role in the team’s success. Presentations to winners and the runners up will be made next Saturday after the Cup Final. The first games of the morning saw Light Blues take the lead against Yellow Tigers from a Ben Hudson penalty. In the second half the Tigers came back with goals from Alistair Mannering and Tom. Both teams worked hard and there was fine goalkeeping from Chris Bolster in the Light Blue goal and excellent defending from Ashley Williams. Red Hoops worked extremely hard against the Stripes but were unable to get a result losing 1-0 to an Oliver Clark goal. Oliver Gooding had a good game in the Stripes defence. The next pair of games saw Light Blues defeat Delta PC Ambers 1-0 after a late goal by Elliott Baveystock, although Ambers were unlucky not to take an early lead after file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/Chris%20Loc...cuments/KLL/archive/king2k2/7aside/reportsapr.htm (3 of 7) [15/03/2004 13:08:16]

Rebecca Dolce struck a close range shot which somehow Chris Bolster managed to save. Red Hoops had a terrific game against the Greens and really did not deserve to lose to a Miles Blenkinsop individual goal straight from the kick off of the second half. For Red Hoops there were some excellent football from Richard Ratcliffe, Isaac Snow and Tom Pace. Gregory Adams in goal for Red Hoops pulled off some very good saves, as did Tom Edney in goal for Greens. Felix Ray worked hard in the Greens defence. Oranges went down 4-0 to the Stripes who scored two goals in each half, Elliott Russell played well in goal for Oranges and Alec Halse had a fine run which might have produced a goal. Jack Brosnan and Tilly Snow each scored two goals, one apiece in each half. Yellow Tigers knew they needed a win to ensure that they won the Division title but they could only manage a draw against a determined Maroons team. Tigers had the chance to win after the award of a disputed penalty but Jordan Reynolds pulled off a brilliant save to keep the score at 0-0. Blue Hoops played well against the Ambers but had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Rebecca Dolce scored for Ambers and Quinn Jenkinson for the Blue Hoops. Greens knew they needed to get a result against the Reds but despite taking the lead they could only manage a draw in this top of the table tussle in the Tudor End Division. Rory Cole scored from a free kick for Greens and the equaliser was a superb effort from Ezra Nelson. Dark Blues (The Scalphunters) had to win both their games and achieve a superior goal difference if they were going to overtake the Tigers and after going down 1-0 to a great goal from Jordan Reynolds in their first game against the Maroons they then went on to produce some first class football, 7 year old Matthew Ewing getting the equaliser before half time. In the second half despite great defending from the Maroons they were unable to stop the Dark Blues scoring three goals, one from Oliver Futcher and two from the captain Aidan Chapman. 4-1 the final score. Whites recognised that they needed to score eight goals against a luckless Oranges who were clearly dispirited after their earlier defeat. White goal scorers were Ross Butland (2), Connor Mcellin(2), Jack Palmer(2), George Corcoran and Timmy Fawcett. The last two games saw the Whites give a 110 percent against the Reds who were equally determined to win the last league game. Reds took the lead from a George Field goal and he scored a second in the second half before Connor Mcellin hit a great goal for Whites to ensure a thrilling finish. In the closing seconds of the game the Reds broke away to score a third to give them a 3-1 victory and the League title on points. It was difficult to single out any player from either side as everyone played well, but Jack Baverstock for the Whites showed true courage after receiving several injuries from his determined tackling before having to come off towards the end after one tackle too many. In the other game the Tigers manager Shane Williams watched with fingers crossed and must have been delighted to see Blue Hoops take a 2 goal lead with goals from Quinn and Danny Jenkinson early in the first half but Aidan Chapman produced two of his own to take the score to 2-2, which meant that the Tigers had clung on to the lead at the top of the School End Division to end as champions by one point. 6th April 2002

Action from Light Blue v Maroon

Not a cloud in the sky but a blustery cold wind made it difficult to control the ball on pitches that were like concrete as a result of the excellent Easter sunshine. Yellow Tigers retained their lead at the top of the School End Division despite losing one of their two games, Delta PC Ambers' two wins mean that they still have a chance of finishing in the runners-up spot. Reds have taken a two-point lead at the top of the Tudor End Division after winning 6-1 against the Oranges and Greens going down 5-0 to Stripes. Depending on results on the 13th April, Whites still can take the title by overtaking both the Reds and Greens. Skill and luck are the two ingredients that will be needed in the last league games of the season in both divisions. In the first two games of the day Yellow Tigers won their game courtesy of guest player Rebecca Dolce of the Ambers who scored twice in the 2-0 victory against the Blue Hoops. Both goals came as the goalkeeper Ben Devall was unable to hold on to the ball after fine saves. Alistair Mannering again played well in defence for Yellow Tigers and Jake Lavender played some good football in attack. Declan Conroy showed total commitment and Jack Osborne had a good game in defence for Blue Hoops. Reds went two nil up before halftime with two goals from Ellis Radford but Stripes came back in the second half and deserved their two goals, both scored by Michael Donnelly, and with fine defensive work by Conrad Watson they held on to draw 2-2. Ambers played Yellow Tigers and clearly Rebecca Dolce was inspired by her two goals earlier and tormented the Yellow Tigers by scoring three against them, the last a volleyed shot that was one of the best of the season. Yellow Tigers worked hard but lacked a goal scorer and came up against some great goalkeeping from Joe Hirsh. The Stripes having played extremely well against the Reds then went one better to defeat the Greens 5-0, with four goals for Michael Donnelly and a goal for guest player Chris Galvin. Casey Arnouti worked hard for the Greens. Blue Hoops took a two-goal lead against Maroon with Danny and Quinn Jenkinson on the score-sheet before Maroons replied through Max Wallder. Quinn Jenkinson restored the two-goal advantage Blue Hoops winning the game 3-1. Reds, seeing an opportunity to go top on points in their game against Oranges, failed to dent the Orange defence in the first half with Elliott Russell in good form in goal. In the second half it was a different

story as they hit six goals; Ellis Radford(2), George Field, Oliver Biddulph and Adam Wicks(2) were the Reds goal scorers. Edward Charlton got a consolation goal for Oranges at the end. The final score was 6-1.

Rebecca of the Ambers

Dark Blues, having inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Ambers in the Cup in the previous week were over confident at the start of the same fixture in the League. Despite creating chances they were unable to score. Rebecca Dolce on the other hand only needed two opportunities and she scored from both in the first half to earn Ambers a 2-0 lead. In the second half Joanna Southcombe effectively blocked her progress and Rebecca was unable to complete a second hat-trick but nevertheless scored a total of seven goals in her three games. Dark Blue could find no reply nad eventually went down to the two first half goals. Edwin Brooks, Phillip and Matthew McLoughlin all had good games. Greens needed a win against the Whites. A combative game that both sides wanted to win but it finally ended 1-1. Max Templer had given the Greens an early lead but Bantams player Timmy Fawcett continued his fine form by scoring the equaliser in the second half. Both sides went close thereafter but failed to covert the chances they had. Miles Blenkinsop had a great game in goals for Greens and Nicholas Votier played well in defence for Whites. Light Blues looked to be cruising to victory over Maroons after an early goal from Liam Colley and although Maroons were playing well defensively with their trio of girls working as hard as ever, they did not look like scoring. In the second half Joe Jones struck a great shot that found the back of the net and could have scored a second. In the end both sides had to settle for a draw. Oranges secured a 1-0 win over Red Hoops with an Edwin Price goal. Red Hoops worked hard to get back into the game but could not convert their chances into goals. The Whites outclassed the Red Hoops but their first three goals had an element of luck as the Red Hoops goalkeeper Gregory Adams first found a shot too fierce and then was victim of cruel deflections from his own players. On each occasion the ball trickled over the line. Timmy Fawcett claimed two of these but the third came off a Red Hoops player. In the second half Barney Blackhurst, Ross Butland and Jack Palmer added three more to give Whites a 6-0 win. Red Hoops never gave up and will be a force next season as they will retain eight of their current team. Tom Pace and Alexander WilsonPearce played well for Red Hoops who are our team of the week. Light Blues took an early lead with a great goal by Oliver Healy in their game against Dark Blues. Aidan Chapman struck the equaliser before Oliver Healy restored the Light Blues lead. In the second half Dark Blues played some great football Oliver Futcher stricking twice and Aidan Chapman hitting his second to give Dark Blues a 4-2 win.

Team of the week - Blue Hoops

A tribute to the goalies

Action from Light Blue v Blue Hoops

The Group games have now been completed and we have our eight quarter-finalists. The games were played in sunshine and we are indebted to Granville Baveystock and Mike England for bailing out the large puddle that had formed on the School End pitch, which on Friday morning had looked unplayable. All teams were in with a chance of making the quarter-finals. The first games were between Yellow Tigers and Light Blues in Group 2 and the Greens and Oranges in Group 4. Whoever won either game was certain to go through to the next round. Light Blues started strongly, but the goal that settled the game was against the run of play. Elliott Baveystock made no mistake in placing the ball into an empty net to give Light Blues a 1-0 victory. Jack Lockwood played well for the Tigers in goal and Jake Lavender showed some good touches. Alistair Mannering had a solid game coming close to scoring on a number of occasions. Luke Giordanelli and Sam Dowsett had their normal good defensive games for Light Blues. Greens defeated Oranges with a brilliantly taken goal from Rhys Steele. Elliott Russell had a good game for the Oranges but unable to stop the goal. Greens were always the stronger team but Oranges remained competitive until the end. Yellow Tigers then played the Maroons in a game that the Maroons had to win and they battled hard for a result. Tigers were equally determined not to lose, which made for an entertaining game. Both sides went close Jack Lockwood having another good game in goal for the Tigers, as did Ross Savory at the other end. Both defences worked hard but the decisive goal eluded both teams and they had to settle for a 0-0 draw, which meant that the Tigers had got through to the next round regardless of the result in the last group game. Red Hoops and Greens looked to be heading for a draw until the last minute when Miles Blenkinsop hit a great goal to give them a 1-0 win. The final group place would be decided in the game between Oranges and Red Hoops,

with the Red Hoops needing a win to go through. Light Blues knew that whatever the result against the Maroons that they would still lead their group and experimented with Elliott Baveystock in goal for the first half of the game and Sam Dowsett in the second half. Both played well.

Action from Stripes

It was the Maroons who threatened to score first in this match and they did with Sam Hillier bundling the ball over the line early in the second half, which gave Maroons a 1-0 lead. They then defended hard to ensure they won the game. Red Hoops and Oranges normally play out a draw in their encounters in the league and previous cup games but today was different. Red Hoops scored the only goal with Piers Lockhart scoring to give his team a 1-0 win and passage into the quarter final stage. Ambers played Blue Hoops in the first of the Group 3 games and a determined Amber side were keen to reverse their fortunes after losing the previous week to Blue Hoops in the league. It took a great goal from a corner and off the head of Jamie Sendles-White to decide this game in favour of Ambers. Blue Hoops fought hard to get the goal back but were struggling to put the ball into the net, although Danny Jenkinson came close. Both defences played well in particular Sam Voller for Blue Hoops and Ben Devall made some great saves to ensure that they did not concede a second goal. In Group 1 Reds played Whites in a really pulsating game which saw two good goals, one for each side. Ellis Radford for the Reds and Timmy Fawcett for the Whites. The final score was 11, which meant that Whites had to hope that Reds beat Stripes - still all to play for. Blue Hoops knew they needed a result against the Dark Blues if their cup hopes were not to be dashed. Alexander Charlton in goal for Dark Blues had to work hard and so did the Dark Blue defence of Oliver Clements and Oliver Futcher. In the second half Blues got the break when Aidan Chapman scored. Blue Hoops tried to get back into the game and despite the efforts of Sebastian Farnell-Lewis and Danny and Quinn Jenkinson they were unable to do so. Aidan Chapman finally got the second goal that put Dark Blues into the next round. Stripes, who had defeated Reds 1-0 in the league were without two key players but worked hard as a team. Reds proved the stronger of the teams and two goals, one in each half saw them proceed to the next round. Ellis and Ross Radford scored. Matthew Flynn, Jack Brosnan and Killian O'Brian played well for the Stripes. The final two group games were between Whites and Stripes, with White needing to win if they were to take part in the next round. This was end-to-end football with Stripes taking the lead with a great goal by Jack Brosnan, only for the Whites to equalise with a goal from Timmy Fawcett. The second half was equally as good but Whites put the best efforts together and were able to take the lead with a goal from George Corcoran. Stripes tried in vain to get back into the game and it all over when George Corcoran hit a great second goal to give Whites a 3-1 win. In goal Jacob Strauss played exceptionally well for the Whites, as did Jack Baverstock and Nicholas Votier in defence. Ambers and Dark Blues were secure in the knowledge that they were both through to the quarter-finals but who would go through top was in doubt. between these two teams are traditionally close and this was one was no different. Dark Blues took the lead in the first half with a goal from Oliver Futcher and completed a 2-0 win when Anthony Boca scored his second competitive goal of the season. Matthew Galvin had two good halves in mid-field for Dark Blues and Aidan Chapman played a good game in goal. Matthew Gates from Bantams also had a good game for Dark Blues. Edwin Brooks and Connor Mahon worked tirelessly for Ambers. 16th March 2002 The weather was not that good this Saturday, which again saw some good football and interesting results. The Yellow Tigers retained their lead in the School End Division, with the Dark Blues (The Scalphunters) currently in the runners-up position after two good wins today. In the Tudor End Division the Greens and Reds remain in their respective positions with goal difference determining the Division leader at this stage. There are just 4 games left to play including the cancelled games from 2nd February. In the first pair of games Dark Blues took two points with a win over the Maroons. Sam Hillier scored for the Maroons, Fred Mikardo-Greaves and Aidan Chapman for the Dark Blues. At the Tudor End Whites recorded a 3-0 victory with Tim Fawcett scoring a hat trick. The next two games saw the Dark Blues defeat the Blue Hoops 2-1 in a close encounter that was ultimately decided by an own goal. Fred Mikardo-Greaves scored for the Dark Blues and Quinn Jenkinson for the Blue Hoops. Having won their first game 3-0, the Whites then went down by the same score-line to the Reds, with goals from Ellis (2) and Ross Radford. Maroons suffered a second defeat when they lost 1-0 to the Yellow Tigers who secured victory after a shot by Alistair Mannering was deflected into the Maroon goal. Stripes secured a 2-0 win over the Oranges with goals from Oliver Clark and Jack Brosnan. Blue Hoops then produced their best result in the League with a comprehensive win over the Delta PC Ambers. The final result was 4-1 with goals for Blue Hoops scored by Quinn Jenkinson (2), Danny Jenkinson and Jack Osborne, with Rebecca Dolce getting the Ambers goal. In the top of the table clash between Reds and Greens the score ended 1-1, with Ellis Radford on target for the Reds and Rory Cole for the Greens. Yellow Tigers and the Light Blues then battled it out for a 1-1 draw with Mark Nicholls finding the net for the Tigers and Ben Hudson for the Light Blues. Stripes then recorded a second win over a luckless Red Hoops, who play determinedly but with little reward for their efforts. Tilly Snow scored for the Stripes and the second came from a shot from Jack Brosnan that took a deflection before ending up in the net. In the last two games of the day Light Blues had an impressive 4-2 victory over Ambers. Ben Hudson and Sam Dowsett netting one apiece. Rebecca Dolce scored the Amber goals. The Greens had to score more goals than Reds if they were to remain on top of the Tudor End Division and against the Red Hoops they had every opportunity to do so. Miles Blenkinsop scored three and Casey Arnouti got her name on the score-sheet to help record a 4-0 win that took them top on goal difference. 9th March 2002 Having delivered the match balls to Latchmere Recreation Ground on Saturday morning file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/Chris%20Loc...cuments/KLL/archive/king2k2/7aside/reportsmar.htm (3 of 6) [15/03/2004 13:09:19]

your roving reporter jetted off to the USA and this set of reports are delivered courtesy of the power of the Internet as the results and goal scorers were sent by e-mail across the Atlantic! There were some interesting results and it means that in the School End Division the Yellow Tigers have returned to the top of the and in the Tudor End the Greens are now joint leaders with the Reds. There is still all to play for and at this stage it is difficult to predict who will end the season top of their respective leagues, particularly in the School End League. The first two games of the morning saw the Yellow Tigers narrowly defeat the Blue Hoops 1-0 with a goal by Tom Harrison. There was a similar result in the other game and somewhat of a surprise with Stripes defeating the Reds 1-0 with the only goal scored by Michael Delaney. Oliver Clark was outstanding in goal for the Stripes. Reds responded in their next game and scored four goals against the Red Hoops with goals from Ezra Nelson, George Field, Ross Radford and Adam Wickes. Blue Hoops also reversed their fortunes in their second game defeating Light Blues 2-1 with Danny and Quinn Jenkinson scoring for Blue Hoops and Elliott Baveystock for the Light Blues. The Yellow Tigers and the Dark Blues (The Scalphunters) drew their game 0-0 but Stripes were unable to cap their earlier win against the Reds with a win against the Whites as they lost 2-0 with George Corcoran continuing his goal scoring exploits with two more goals to add to his tally for the Whites. Red Hoops and Oranges played their customary 0 -0 game but the Light Blues having lost one game bounced back with a 3-0 win against the Maroons with Elliott Baveystock hitting a hat-trick. Delta PC Ambers finally defeated the Dark Blues with a 1-0 victory with a great goal from Rebecca Dolce. The Whites were defeated 2-0 by the Greens with Rhys Steele getting two goals. In the final two games Ambers and Maroons drew 0-0, this draw and the earlier win means that Ambers can still take the League if other results are in their favour during the remaining games left. The Greens won 3-0 their second game against the Oranges with goals from Miles Blenkinsop, Tom Edney and Louis Edmond. The Greens were the only team to record two wins. 2nd March 2002 A frosty morning soon turned to brilliant sunshine although the pitches were quite muddy due to the rain during the week. There was some entertaining football played by all sides and in particular some first class goal keeping displays. Too often goalies get very little credit because they are not playing out on the pitch scoring goals. The first two games saw some good football from all four teams. Delta PC Ambers narrowly lost to Light Blues 2-1. Ben Hudson scored his first for the Light Blues in this half of the season after Ambers were unlucky not to take the lead after two fine saves by Chris Bolster. Elliott Baveystock was given too much space for Light Blues second and Jamie Sendle-White hit a great goal to create a tense finish. In the other game Red Hoops played extremely well in the first half and had opportunities to score against the Greens. In the second half it was a different story as Greens scored three, 2 from Rory Cole and one from Rhys Steele. Final score was 3-0 to Greens. file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/Chris%20Loc...cuments/KLL/archive/king2k2/7aside/reportsmar.htm (4 of 6) [15/03/2004 13:09:19]

7 a Side Reports March 2002

In the next two games Ambers and Yellow Tigers played a very good game of football with both sides defending and attacking well. Alex Dulovic in goal and Ashley Williams in defence both had good games, whilst for Ambers Phillip and Matthew McLoughlin played equally well. It was Matthew who struck the ball that ended up in the net to provide Ambers with a 1-0 win. Greens and Stripes played out a 0-0 draw with both sides going close. For Stripes there were good games from Oliver Clark in goal, Killian O’Brian in midfield and Oliver Gooding back after three weeks absence. Whites and Red Hoops then enjoyed a good game that Whites just edged with a goal in the first half by Connor McEllin. Red Hoops are playing better defensively but are struggling to score goals. Gregory Adams is playing well in goal and so is Andrew Gardener in defence. They are likely to be a force next year as the majority remain in 7a-side for another season. Light Blues and Dark Blues (The Scalphunters) played out an end-to-end 1-1 draw with goals from Elliott Baveystock in the first half for Light Blues and a great equaliser from Fred Mikardo-Greaves in the second half for Dark Blues. Anthony Boca worked hard in the first half up front for Dark Blues without any success. Sam Dowsett and Luke Giordanelli both worked tirelessly in the back positions for Light Blues. Stripes went on to record a 1-0 win against the Oranges. Matthew Flynn scored for the Stripes and Conrad Watson improves each week. Maroons on the School End pitch produced a stunning performance to defeat Yellow Tigers 2-0. They scored a goal in each half the first from Joe Jordan and the second from Max Wallder but it was Ross Savory who had kept them in the game prior to the first goal with a great display of goal keeping. Yellow Tigers never gave up and both Harry Maguire and Alistair Mannering had attempts cleared. Annie Kennedy, Polly Lambert and Catherine Alderton all had good games in defence for the Maroons. Yellow Tigers missed two penalties, one after a great save by Ross Savory and the other went wide. Blue Hoops and Dark Blues played an entertaining game of football with both sides going close in the first half. Oliver Ozdilli and Declan Conroy worked well in defence and Ben Devall pulled off some great saves before Aidan Chapman equalised, after Quinn Jenkinson had forced the ball over the line to give Blue Hoops the lead in the second half. Neither side deserved to lose and it was a welcome full time whistle at the end with the final score 1-1. Whites at the Tudor End produced a devastating display to beat the Reds 4-0, which might have been five had they not missed their first penalty. George Corcoran scored one in the first half before adding a penalty late on. Ross Butland scored the other 2 goals. The final two games of the morning saw Reds beat Oranges 3-1 despite going behind to an Edwin Price goal. George Field scored 2 and Sam Alred one, his second in two weeks. The result ensured that Reds maintained a lead of two points at the top of the Tudor End Division. Blue Hoops played Maroons in a game that saw three goals, the first from Ross Savory for Maroons was a cracker and gave the goalkeeper no chance. This was followed by a goal for Blue Hoops from Danny Jenkinson. The winner came near the end from Joe Jones for the Maroons. It was hard luck on the Blue Hoops who deserved a get a result. It meant that Maroons were again on top of the School End Division.

A blustery day with the threat of rain, which held off until after play had concluded saw some excellent football played in both Leagues. In the School End Division there was a great game between Maroons and Delta PC Ambers. Maroons should have been 2 nil in the lead if it had not been for two great saves by Joe Hirsh from guest player Ezra Nelson of the Reds. It was Ambers who got the first goal from Rebecca Dolce. Sam Hillier equalised but the second half provided two great goals, one from Jamie Sendles-White and a terrific volley from Alex Dolce. In the Tudor End Division the Greens and Oranges fought out a draw with neither side converting the many opportunities that they both had. The next pair of games saw Blue Hoops get their first league win against Maroons. Danny Jenkinson scored first for Blue Hoops, which was followed by another Sam Hillier goal for the Maroons. Danny Jenkinson restored the Blue Hoops lead only for guest player Tom Edney, from Greens, to score for Maroons. Blue Hoops third came from a Danny Jenkinson corner, which was helped into the net by a Maroon player. Final score Blue Hoops 3, Maroons 2. The other game saw a spirited Oranges hold the Reds until half-time but they could not prevent the Red onslaught in the second half with goals from Oliver Biddulph(2), Ross Radford and Ezra Nelson giving Reds a 4-0 win. The next two games saw Yellow Tigers take the School End Division leaders spot with a 4-2 win over Ambers and Greens beat Stripes 1 - 0. Harry Maguire, who looks destined to move up a level, scored a first half hat-trick for the Tigers but the second half belonged to Ambers, with two goals from Edwin Brooks and Jamie Sendles-White, unfortunately an own goal ensured that Yellow Tigers maintained their advantage. In a hotly contested game Greens were able to defeat Stripes with the only goal of the game coming from Louis Edmond. Blue Hoops looking for their second league win took a 2-0 lead against Light Blues with goals from Danny Jenkinson and Jack Osborne. You can never write the Light Blues off and they came back with two goals from Tom Bradley to earn a 2-2 draw. Reds continued their mean form with a 3-0 win over Red Hoops. George and Jack Field both scored and Sam Alred got his first goal. There was then a top of the table clash between Yellow Tigers and Dark Blues (The Scalphunters). The first half was even with both sides going close but in the second half there was a lucky break for the Tigers when Harry Maguire squeezed the ball over the line after a goalmouth tussle. Dark Blues looked for the equaliser and were unfortunate to go further behind after they gave away a free kick from a back pass to the goalkeeper under pressure. This resulted in a well-struck goal from Mark Nicholls to make it 2-0. Alexander Charlton as stand in goalkeeper for the Dark Blues had a

good game despite being on the losing side. Stripes produced a great result against the Whites with Tilly Snow giving them a 1-0 win. In the last two games Dark Blues defeated Light Blues 3-1 with Aidan Chapman getting all three and Elliott Baveystock replying for Light Blues, and Whites inflicted a punishing defeat on the Red Hoops by scoring 6 with no reply. George Corcoran scored one in the first half along with one each from guest players from Bantams, Alex Kersey and Tim Fawcett (Whites clearly looking ahead to next season). In the second half George Corcoran hit three more to take his tally to four. 16th February 2002 Despite the early morning frost this weeks games were played in glorious sunshine, with plenty of exciting play and commitment from all players. The first two games resulted in wins for Greens and Dark Blues (The Scalphunters). Greens defeated a weakened Whites team, which was due to players away at half-term, although even at full strength they may not have overcome the Greens. 2 brilliant goals were scored for Greens by Rory Cole, and one by Miles Blenkinsop. Delta PC Ambers and Dark Blues were involved in a close game and it was a goal from Matthew Ewing that put the Dark Blues on the road to victory, followed by a second by Oliver Clements, Ambers came close on several occasions but could not score, in part thanks to Joanna Southcombe in the Dark Blues defence keeping a close eye on Rebecca Dolce, final score 2-0. Dark Blues and Maroons then fought out a 0-0 draw with both defences playing extremely well, in particular Catherine Alderton for Maroons and Oliver Futcher for Dark Blues. The other game was a 7 goal extravaganza with Whites defeating Oranges 4-3, George Corcoran scored for Whites as did Ross Butland, Nicholas Charlier and guest player from Bantams Timmy Forsett. The Oranges goals came from Matt Francis, Alec Halse and Ben Scholes. There was another a 7 goal thriller with Reds overcoming Greens 4-3 after being down 1-0 and then 2-1 before their strength told on Greens who had already played one game. Goals for Reds came from Ross Radford and three for George Field, and for Greens by Rhys Steele, Miles Blenkinsop from the penalty spot, and Louis Edmond. Ambers got a good win in a first class game with Blue Hoops. Rebecca and Alex Dolce (his first goal) getting on the score sheet for Ambers and Danny Jenkinson for Blue Hoops. Declan Conroy played extremely well for Blue Hoops in defence. Final score 2-1 to Ambers. The next game saw Light Blues go down 1-0 to the Maroons after Jack Mahoney got his first goal following a goalmouth scramble. Once again the Maroons defence lead by Catherine Alderton with Annie Kennedy and Polly Lambert were in excellent form. This result kept them top of the School End Division. Oranges and Red Hoops played out another 0-0 draw. There was then a great game between the Blue Hoops and Yellow Tigers, who eventually ran out 3-1 winners. This was a game that could have gone either way when at 1-1, Yellow Tigers got the break they were looking for. Alistair Mannering scored first and then the equaliser came from Danny Jenkinson. Harry Maguire then scored after an error in the Blue Hoops defence and Mark Nicholls made the game safe with a third goal. Reds then beat Stripes 2-0 despite some terrific play from Ross McIntosh, Tilly Snow, Jack Brosnan, Killian O’Brian and Samuel Dixon in goal. were scored by Ellis Radford and Adam Wicks. (Both these games counted as double points games as a result of the abandoned matches on 26 February, and this meant that Yellow Tigers moved into joint second place in the School End Division and Reds go top of the Tudor End Division. The final two games saw Red Hoops get their first League win in part thanks to on-loan Dark Blues player Aidan Chapman playing in his fourth game of the morning. Aidan scored twice and Issac Snow got the other after following up his penalty effort, which was originally well saved by the Stripes Goalkeeper. For the Stripes there were two goals from Jack Brosnan in the first half. In the other game Yellow Tigers with no substitutes available looked tired by the end of their tussle with the Light Blues who scored twice through Elliott Baveystock before Harry Maguire pulled one back near the end of the game. 9th February 2002

Team of the Week - Orange Spring 2002

Matt

Having lost the previous Saturday due to the effects of the rain which caused the Council to call off all fixtures on the preceding day, it looked during the week as if we would be in a similar situation come this Saturday with the first round of the Cup. Luckily the rain held off and in the end there was even sunshine. The Cup draw had paired teams from each of the two Divisions together in four groups of three, this will guarantee that each Division will be represented by four teams each in the Quarter-Finals. The first two games were Reds v Whites and Delta PC Ambers v Dark Blues (The Scalphunters). Both games were close with Reds winning 2-0 with goals from Adam Wicks and Ross Radford. Dark Blues won 1-0 with a goal from Aiden Chapman but this game could have produced a dozen goals equally shared by both sides had there not been two great displays of goalkeeping by Matthew McLoughlin for Ambers and George BrownGriffiths for the Dark Blues. The next set of games saw Reds and Stripes battle it out, with the final result ending in a draw at 1-1, Ross McIntosh scored for Stripes and Ezra Nelson for the Reds, Tilly Snow played well for Stripes as did new boy Michael Delaney. In a riveting game between Ambers and Blue Hoops, Quinn Jenkinson headed the first for Blue Hoops before Rebecca Dolce equalised, Edwin Brooks then scored a second for Ambers just before halftime. Blue Hoops equalised early in the second half with a goal from Danny Jenkinson, but Ambers came back and scored two goals, one more from Rebecca Dolce and the last from Jamie Sendles-White. Final score 4-2 to Amber. There followed an excellent game between Whites and Stripes which finally ended 1-1 with another goal for Ross

McIntosh and a cracking goal from George Corcoran for the Whites. The other game was a complete disaster for the Dark Blues who went down to their heaviest defeat of the season losing 6-1 to the Blue Hoops. In the first half poor defending from a normally resolute defence allowed Blue Hoops to capitalise and score 4 goals, three from Quinn Jenkinson and a first for Max Daly. In the second half Aiden Chapman replied for the Dark Blues but Blue Hoops maintained their dominance with two more goals one each for Danny and Quinn Jenkinson. After this Cup win, there is no doubt that with Sebastian FarnellLewis in their defence the Blue Hoops should improve their League position.

There were then two close games, Maroons v Light Blues (finally playing in their own colours), and Oranges (getting their kit returned from the Light Blues) and Greens also with new kit. The Light Blues defeated Maroons 1-0 with a great individual goal from Elliott Baveystock. The Oranges fought hard in their game against Greens scoring first with a great goal from Matt Francis. Oranges defence battled hard to hold off the Greens but finally let Miles Blenkinsop slip past them for an equaliser. Thomas Nutley and Murray Clarke both played extremely well in the Oranges defence and Elliott Russell had a good game in goal. Greens then beat Red Hoops 3-0 with goals from Tom Edney, Rory Cole and Max Templer. In his first games for the Greens Felix Ray played very well. Red Hoops, despite their defeat, also played good football and new player Alex Boltman looked good in defence. Yellow Tigers defeated Maroons 1-0 with a goal from Harry Maguire in the second-half. Max Wallder had a great game in goal for Maroons, and in the first half pulled off a point blank save from Harry Maguire. Catherine Alderton also played well in both games. The final two games saw a two enthralling draws between Light Blues and Yellow Tigers in a game where no quarter was asked for or given. Light Blues scored first through Tom Bradley but an equaliser quickly followed this from Mark Nicholls. Oranges and Red Hoops ended 0-0. The next round of the Cup is scheduled for 23 March and there is all to play for because no team can say they are through to the quarter-finals yet.

The rain on Friday night abated sufficiently by Saturday morning for games to start on time. But heavy winds and a continual steady fall of rain finally took its toll and the last two games were postponed. These games will, weather permitting, be played on Saturday 16 February as ‘Double-headers’ the results counting twice. So they will be used for today’s fixtures and as the normal result on that day for the four teams involved. Despite the weather we did play 10 of the 12 fixtures and all credit must go to the playerss who battled in poor conditions and to parents who suffered on the sidelines. At the School End, Maroons defeated Ambers 3-1, which was to some extent against the run of play at times. Sam Hillier scored two, and Joe Harris one for the Maroons. Daniel Fabregas replied for the Ambers. In the next game Dark Blues took a commanding 3-0 lead through an own goal plus two from Alexander Charlton. In the second half, Ambers came back with an own goal in their favour and Jamie SendlesWhite nipped in for a second. In the last seconds Ambers had an opportunity to equalise but their attacker struck the ball just wide - final result 3-2 to Dark Blues. Next a determined display by Maroons against Light Blues. Sam Hillier giving Maroons the lead. But in the last minutes Tom Bradley saw his kick in a goalmouth scramble trickle over the line for the deserved equaliser. The game ended 1-1. In a hard fought tussle between Yellow Tigers and Dark Blues, the Tigers took an early lead from Harry Maguire but this was overturned by an own goal from an Aidan Chapman throw-in and followed up just before half-time by a header from Matthew Ewing. In the second half Dark Blues gave away their advantage when the Tigers equalised. After that they scored three more with Harry Maguire completing his hat-trick and Robert Payne with two. Aidan Chapman scored a third for Dark Blues but Tigers deservedly won 5-3. In what turned out to be the final game at the School End Light Blues defeated Blue Hoops 2-0 with goals from Tom Bradley and Elliot Baveystock. At the Tudor End the first game between Oranges and Green looked very even in the first half but Greens ran out the winners in the second-half with goals from Tom Edney and Max Templer. The next game was an hard fought draw between Whites and Greens which ended 0-0. The two new teams, Red Hoops and Oranges then played an exciting game, which resulted in a 3-1 win for the Oranges, with two goals for Edwin Price and one for Matt Francis. Whites then took on Stripes. It was expected that this would be a closely contested game and so it proved despite Whites winning 2-0 with two goals from Ross Butland. The final game of the day seemed somewhat one sided with Reds scoring four against the Red Hoops in the first half with goals from Oliver Biddulph, Adam Wicks, Ezra Nelson and Jack Field. The second half saw an end to

the goal scoring and the final result was 4-0 to the Reds. 19th January 2002 The first league games were played on Saturday 19 January with Blue Hoops playing Dark Blues (The Scalphunters) at the School End, and Reds against Whites at the Tudor End. The latter game ended in a 1-1 draw, Ross Butland scoring the Whites goal in the first half and Ezra Nelson equalising in the second for Reds. In the other game it was no score at half-time and then Fred Mikardo-Greaves hit a great goal followed by one from 7 year-old Matthew Ewing. Alexander Charlton added two late goals to complete Dark Blues scoring giving them a 4-0 victory. Goals in the School End Division were few and far between thereafter. Maroons beat Blue Hoops 2-1 with goals from Max Wallder and Sam Hillier. Blue Hoops came back with a late goal from Danny Jenkinson. After that there were four drawn games. Light Blues against Dark Blues ended 1-1 with Elliot Baveystock scoring and Matthew Ewing equalising in the last minute for Dark Blues. The remaining three games all ended 0-0. Mention must be made of Joe Hirsh playing in goal for the Delta PC Ambers, he had two outstanding games against Light Blues and Yellow Tigers. In the Tudor End Division there were lots of goals, unfortunately they were mainly scored against Oranges and Red Hoops, although the latter played well against the Whites, losing 2-0, with Ross Butland hitting form with two more goals for Whites, The Red Hoops faltered in their last game against Greens losing 4-0. Greens scorers were Tom Edney, Rory Cole, Rhys Steele and Miles Blenkinsop. Reds beat Oranges 3-1 after being a goal down at half-time from a scrambled goal which no one claimed for the Oranges. Reds came back with goals from Samuel Everhard, George Field and Ross Radford. Stripes scored five in their game against Oranges, two in the first half from Jack Brosnan and a hat-trick in the second half from Ross McIntosh. The game against Greens was a different game as both sides were well balanced. There was a great save from the penalty spot by the Stripes goalkeeper Samuel Dixon, but the winner came for Greens from Rory Cole in the second half, final result 1-0. 12th January 2002 The second half of the season opened on Saturday 12 January with a series of Friendly/Trial Games to assist in establishing four new teams; Red Hoops, Blue Hoops, Oranges and Reds. The aim of providing a top division and second division with sides in both divisions that are relatively balanced is not an easy task and both the Red Hoops and Oranges in the Tudor End Division may need to be given some other players from stronger teams if they are to be in with a chance of winning games. In the games, Samuel Everhard who moved from Greens to Reds scored his first goal. Reds are a new team and have a good squad that has three sets of brothers, Ross and Ellis Radford, George and Jack Field and Ezra and Asher Nelson. Stripes showed positive signs with the inclusion of Ross McIntosh from Light Blues. In the School End Division Blue Hoops are the new team and have Danny and Quinn Jenkinson in their team They scored 40 goals between them for Dark Blues in the first half of the season. Hoops played well in particular Sebastian Devall and his brother Ben who played in goal. file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/Chris%20Loc...cuments/KLL/archive/king2k2/7aside/reportsjan.htm (2 of 3) [15/03/2004 13:10:26]

2nd February 2002 ALL MATCHES POSTPONED DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS 26th January 2002 Boy, was it wet today! Torrential rain caused many postponements. Many of your favourite teams fell to the weather. Rain poured from the terraces at Stamford Bridge threatening a vital F.A. Cup fixture (and at least 2 more were called off). And here, our own waterlogged pitches caused abandonments and postponements. Full details on your very own website. Check the links on the left for your League Division! Did you know that the national Little League has its own site? There's a fabulous competition there where you can win footy goodies and books. Check it out here! 19th January 2002 In the news today, Under 13/12 League Light Blues pick up their first win of the campaign with a 1-0 defeat of Gold. In the Under 11's, a League ruling means that all yesterday's matches are to be counted as the previously postponed fixtures from the first half of the season, leaving just one match left to be played from that list to complete the table, and of course a new set of fixtures to be re-arranged. 5th January 2002 Kingston Council decided that because of the frozen state of pitches, all of today's matches are postponed. 5th December 2001 Because of a failure in Kingston Little League's Database, the Committee would be grateful if parents would send their cheques to Mike England, Kingston Little League, 27 East Road, Kingston-upon-Thames, KT2 6EJ or give them to their Managers as soon as possible. Alternatively, there will be an opportunity to hand them to in on Saturday 8th December at Latchmere. Cheques should be made payable to Kingston Little League. Subscriptions are £35, but if there is more than one family member you only pay once, although token donations for additional family members are always welcome.
