2013 Army A Club Honor The Tradition
Live The Experience
Dea r Fr i e n d s , As the Athletic Director at the United States Military Academy, I consider it a privilege to come to work every day and be surrounded by extraordinary young men and women. Day in and day out, the Corps of Cadets inspires me, as well as our coaches, staff and administrators, and it is incumbent upon us all to ensure that we are doing everything we can to help build tomorrow’s leaders of character through our commitment to winning. West Point is committed to sustaining excellence through the values of “Duty, Honor, Country” for the entire Corps of Cadets. It is the responsibility of the Athletic Department to do everything it can to support this mission by ensuring over 900 cadet-athletes have the means necessary to achieve all that they set out to accomplish, while developing and inspiring the future leaders of the U.S. Army. Every donation to the Army A Club and every ticket that is purchased has a direct impact on the experience of our cadet-athletes. We thank you for your support through the years. What you do continues to transform our department and keeps it moving forward. The keys to becoming the future leaders of our great nation are engrained in the lessons taught every single day at West Point, both inside and outside the classroom. There is no better way to test this knowledge than "on the fields of friendly strife," as some of the best lessons our cadet-athletes learn come from utilizing their leadership skills in Division-I competition. As West Point strives to adapt itself to an ever-changing world, so too does the Army Athletic Department. We are all dedicated to staying ahead of these changes and remain driven to provide the highest level cadet-athlete experience attainable. On behalf of all the young men and women that put on the Army Black Knight uniform, thank you for your unwavering support.

LARA STOUFFER ’14 Swimming & Diving Having the privilege to represent West Point as a cadet-athlete has undoubtedly helped my development as a leader. The constant pursuit of achieving a balance between team and individual goals, both in and out of the pool, has built my confidence to take on new challenges. Learning the ability to respond to stress in a positive way is what makes cadet-athletes special.

Welcome to the 2013 Army A Club
THE ARMY A CLUB
In the following pages of this brochure, you will find information explaining what the Army A Club is, the role we play in sustaining the cadet-athlete experience, and why it is as important as ever to lend your support in 2013. Every single ticket you purchase and every dollar you donate assures that the “long gray line” keeps marching, not only in 2013, but for future generations to come. You will find information explaining what the Army A Club is, the function we serve in the Army Athletic Association, and why it is as important as ever to lend your support in 2013. There is also more information about the great benefits associated with being a member of the Army A Club. You will also see the names and faces of several of our cadet-athletes and learn more about how your support has a direct impact on their overall West Point experience. You will find that, without the support of our generous A Club members, they would not be able to achieve all that they do in their pursuit of becoming “leaders of character” upon graduation from our great institution.
As the fundraising arm of the Army Athletic Association, the Army A Club is responsible for generating support for the purpose of enriching the cadet-athlete experience at the United States Military Academy. The financial support from generous donors contributes to the program’s long term growth and prosperity. It also supports the Academy’s overall mission of producing leaders of character by providing an extraordinary Division-I athletic experience for over 900 cadet-athletes. For their tax-deductible gifts, members of the Army A Club receive benefits that are intended to thank them for their generosity, and allow dedicated supporters to stay involved and wellinformed about the Army Black Knights. Included in a wide range of great benefits, A Club members receive premium parking at football games, preferred seat locations at various venues, invitations to special events, and most importantly the gratification associated with impacting the cadet-athlete experience. The Army A Club is not only the best way to support cadet-athletes, but also essential to the success of our 25 Division-I athletic teams. By supporting the Army A Club, donors help the Army Athletic Association meet its financial needs, support its tremendous cadetathletes, and maintain its high standard of excellence both now and in the future.

MARQUIS MORRIS ’13 Sprint Football With the lessons I learned while being a cadet-athlete, I feel more prepared for service after graduation. I understand the implications of sound decision making, the importance of hard work, the value in mentoring, and the significance of being a winner both in athletics and in life.

Reasons to Give
2011-2012 ARMY ACADEMIC AND ATHLETIC HIGHLIGHTS
Each year, over 4,000 alumni and friends of West Point contribute to the Army A Club and directly enhance the cadet-athlete experience. Many A Club members enjoy the benefits associated with their donations, including preferred seating and parking at Michie Stadium on football game days. However, even more important than what you receive is what you provide to the cadet-athletes. In 2012, the Office of the Directorate of Intercollegiate Athletics (ODIA) was responsible for generating over 60% of our budget from external sources. These included ticket sales, corporate sponsorships and licensing agreements, as well as a large portion from private donations by Army A Club members. Without these donations, we simply could not provide the firstclass experience that every West Point cadet-athlete deserves. As a member of the Army A Club, your support directly sustains the Academy’s overall mission of producing leaders of character by providing an extraordinary Division-I athletic experience for over 900 cadet-athletes.
Due to the previous support of the A Club, Army Athletics was able to support the following cadet-athletes, teams, and coaches as they performed at the highest level, both on and off the fields of friendly strife. They were able to distinguish themselves as a direct result of what being able to fund the “margin of excellence” provides. Ways To Give to The Army A Club There are many different ways you can give to the Army A Club. From using your credit card or writing a check, to matching gifts and gifts-in-kind, all help to enhance the cadet-athlete experience at West Point. In 2012, the Army A Club staff noted an increase in members settling their donations using monthly installments. Monthly Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT) or automatic credit card payments are more than welcome. Many members have found that these methods have helped them budget for their annual gift more efficiently, allowing them to contribute additional funds to the cadet-athlete experience and reap the rewards of higher giving levels. Below are instructions on how to set up an EFT or monthly payment, as well as a list of various other ways to make a gift. Please note that the A Club giving year runs from Dec. 1 to Nov. 30 each year. Also note: To receive A Club benefits associated with the 2013 football season, your full pledge must be paid off no later than July 1st. For more information about any of the giving options below, please contact Stacy Schretzman with the Army A Club at 845-938-2322 or email
[email protected].
CASH DONATIONS
BEQUESTS
Most gifts to the Army A Club take this form and it is as easy as writing a check or using your MasterCard, Visa or American Express card. Checks should be made payable to the “Army A Club.”
Gifts through wills and bequests can provide you with the opportunity to sustain your family name in conjunction with West Point’s intercollegiate athletic program. The Army A Club can provide you with the language necessary to ensure that your intentions are clearly expressed.
MONTHLY PAYMENT PLAN Quickly and easily set up a monthly payment schedule by calling our staff or visiting the A Club website (goARMYsports.com/aclub) and providing a sixteen digit credit card number and expiration date. Once you have notified us of the amount that you wish to have debited from your account, and the number of payments you wish to make, we will classify you with the giving level that matches your year-end total.
REAL ESTATE
EFT
CHARITABLE TRUSTS/LIFE INCOME
Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT) can be set up on a reoccurring basis by simply filling out the appropriate EFT form and submitting it to the A Club along with either a photocopy of a personal check or a voided check. Forms are available online at goARMYsports.com/aclub as well as on the renewal form enclosed with this mailing.
Charitable trusts offer an opportunity to make a substantial gift to the Army A Club without forfeiting the annual income produced by these assets. You retain income for your life and the life of your spouse. This gift can also be structured to create a substantial tax break over a period of years.
Substantial tax benefits also exist for gifts of real estate.
SECURITIES You may eliminate paying capital gains tax and receive an income tax charitable deduction for gifts of long-term appreciated securities.
GIFTS-IN-KIND MATCHING GIFTS Matching gifts are a useful giving avenue to explore for all Army A Club members. Many employers will match your contribution to the Army A Club, in some cases up to 100%. By simply checking with your employer and submitting a request to have your Army A Club gift matched, you can greatly increase your support of the cadet-athletes and also access the benefits of a higher A Club giving level.
Gifts of goods or services can be of great financial assistance to Army Athletics while offering the donor a tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift. Please consult your tax advisor and contact the Army A Club office for further information.

Description of A Club Benefits As you can see on the following page, the A Club benefits chart is full of great events and opportunities for all of our members. Here is a more in-depth description of some of our top benefits. HOME FOOTBALL GAME DAY BENEFITS • The Kimsey Club: The Kimsey Club, located in the south end zone of Michie Stadium, is a wonderful place to enjoy food, drink and camaraderie with fellow Army A Club members before and during every home football game. Located on the fourth floor of the Kimsey Center, doors open two hours before kickoff and provide a great way to get out of the elements on a hot or cold afternoon. (MAJ and up) • Reserved Parking: Tailgating is a huge part of the Army Football experience. With that in mind, having a reserved parking sign is a great way to ensure that you get to enjoy the same great experience each Saturday during the season. NEW FOR 2013 – 5* level donors can set up reserved parking signs in selected lots. Refer to the benefits chart for a complete breakdown of the lots available. (5* and up) • Cullum Hall Welcome Breakfast: Start football game days off with a cup of coffee and light breakfast with your fellow A Club members as well as members of the USMA Leadership team — all while enjoying beautiful views of the Hudson River. (5* and up)
BRENDAN BUCKLEY ’13 Lacrosse I am extremely thankful for the incredible athletic facilities at West Point. Specifically, the Kimsey weight room is one of the best facilities in the nation. The center and its staff enable me to reach my full athletic and physical potential.

(ADC) • Postgame Tailgate: Postgame tailgates at the AD’s house are a great way close out a football Saturday at West Point. You will enjoy great food and drink, while also recapping all the day’s events with the head of the Army Athletics Department. (ADC)
ARMY/NAVY BENEFITS • A/N Gala: The Army/Navy gala is a formal dinner that annually brings together celebrities, grads and high ranking officials from both academies tied to our nation’s greatest rivalry. (All Levels) • A/N Package: The Army/Navy game package not only includes two passes to the aforementioned gala, but also provides you with the opportunity to stay at the official Army hotel. Prior to coming to West Point, I had nowhere near the amount of opportunities or caliber of facilities that West Point has to offer. Being able to call myself part of a team at West Point is something I'm proud of and that is due to the support of the people that came before me. Thank you to all of our supporters because without them, the amount of pride I have for Army Athletics would not be the same.

Your 2013 Parking Is A Renewable Item To increase the efficiency with which we allocate parking on an annual basis, the lot you had access to last year is included as a renewable item on your order form. Therefore, you will be able to easily renew your season parking location this year in the same manner as you have been able to renew your season tickets over the years. Please note that parking is allocated based on A Club giving level and priority points. Should you wish to upgrade to a higher-level lot, or move to a lot at a lower level, please make note of your request on the renewal form or call the Army A Club at 845-938-2322.
Tailgate Standards Oversized tailgates are prohibited in all parking lots on game day. All tailgates must be reasonably contained to the area around the front or back of your vehicle and not spill over into other parking spots or block the flow of traffic. Any tents, tables, chairs or other tailgating paraphernalia that could potentially impede the movement of emergency vehicles will be asked to move accordingly. In lots where reserved tailgates areas are also located (such as MID Lot), tailgaters can only occupy space that has not been specifically set aside for premium tailgating experiences.
Four-Hour Rule Will Be In Place in 2013 Once again for 2013, fans arriving more than four hours before scheduled kick-off will be allowed to park in any open and un-reserved spot in the lot in which they hold a pass. Fans will not be allowed to reserve spots for vehicles that have not arrived. Vehicles must be in their preferred spots no later than the four-hour mark before the start of the game. Once the four-hour threshold has been reached, vehicles will be required to follow the instructions of the parking attendants on where to park.
Only Vehicles May Occupy Non-Reserved Parking Spots The one parking pass-one vehicle rule will be enforced once again in 2013. Parking passes are only to be used for vehicles (no tents, chairs, etc.) unless you have a reserved parking sign. In turn, Reserved Parking pass holders may not park in unreserved spots.
Single-Game Parking Single-game parking passes will once again cost $15 in advance and $20 on game day. To purchase parking in advance, call the Army Ticket Office at 877-TIX-ARMY or visit goARMYsports.com.
Ranger-Level/Non-A Club Parking Ranger-level donors and non-A Club season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase a season parking pass for their choice of H Lot, K Lot, BSF Lot, Tower Road, Target Hill or Ike Hall for $65. Call 877-TIX-ARMY to order your pass.
A NOTE ABOUT 2013 FOOTBALL PARKING ADJUSTMENTS The 2013 season will mark the start of a transition for how the A Club operationally facilitates its donor parking. Demand for parking has increased dramatically over the past few years and construction projects have also led to limited existing parking availability. We continuously review our parking allocation structure to ensure everyone receives their parking benefits in a fair and equitable manner. For 2013, adjustments have been made that will create a more structured system so that all parking benefits are allocated more efficiently. Along with these adjustments, we have also added a $2,500 reserved sign option that will now be available in selected lots.
Renewing Your Current Account If you are looking to renew the same number of parking passes in the same lot you had in 2012, there is no adjustment or increased donation necessary for 2013. As long as you donate at the appropriate giving level and purchase the minimum number of season tickets, you are once again entitled to renew the same number of parking passes you previously had. There is also no additional change necessary if you make a request to move to a different lot associated with a donation level less than or equal to the lot you parked in for 2012 (Ex. AAA Lot to C Lot or A Lot to Mills North, etc.)
New Accounts/Upgrade Requests If you are a new donor or will be looking to upgrade your parking to a lot associated with a higher giving level, each pass will require a per pass donation to be made. The donation amount necessary to have access to each pass is equivalent to the minimum donation required commensurate with a non-reserved spot in each respective parking lot A minimum season ticket purchase is also required. Refer to the benefits chart on Page 5 to view the parking associated with each donation level. Here are some examples to illustrate these adjustments. Note that you are entitled to request parking passes in multiple lots if desired: • To have access to one pass in A Lot, a minimum $1,500 donation and a purchase of at least one season ticket is required. Two A Lot passes would require a minimum $3,000 donation and a purchase of at least five season tickets. Three A Lot passes would require a minimum $4,500 donation and a purchase of at least nine season tickets. • To have access to one reserved parking sign on Stewart Rd., a minimum $5,000 donation and a purchase of at least one season ticket would be required. Two reserved signs would require only a $5,000 donation, but would require a minimum of five season tickets. Three reserved signs would still only require a minimum $5,000 donation, but would require a minimum of nine season tickets. Four reserved signs would require a minimum $6,000 donation and at least 13 season tickets. • To have access to one pass in C Lot ($350 minimum donation) and one Upper Reserved pass ($150), a minimum $500 donation and a purchase of at least five season tickets would be required.
Once again, if you will be renewing the same parking passes you had in 2012, you do not need to make any changes to your donation in 2013. However, any new requests or additions for 2013 will fall under the new donation format.
NEW FOR 2013 - $2,500 Reserved Parking Sign Option To request reserved signs in A Lot, Stewart Rd. or Mills North, a total minimum donation of $5,000 is required, along with a minimum season ticket purchase. In addition, starting in 2013, reserved signs can also be requested in selected other donor lots (MID, Mills Rd., J Lot, AAA Lot, C Lot, G Lot, Upper Reserved) for a minimum donation of $2,500, along with a minimum season ticket purchase. As long as you donate the minimum to have a reserved sign and have the appropriate number of season tickets, you have the ability to request all of your parking be reserved as long as you reach the per pass minimum.
JARRETT MACKEY ’14 Football Without the support from the Army A Club, I would not have made it through West Point. Being a cadet-athlete has allowed me to take on leadership roles and mature into a better and more effective leader. The opportunities I have been given helped me transform from an 18-year old kid into a leader of character committed to serving this great country.
If you have any questions in regard to these changes, please call the Army A Club at 845-938-2322.

As the Athletic Director at the United States Military Academy, I consider it a privilege to come to work every day and be surrounded by extraordinary young men and women.
