Carolyn Hart is best known for her cozy mystery series, but she has also been a professor and journalist. She has won numerous awards including the Agatha Award, Mystery Readers International, Macavity Award, and a Pulitzer Prize nomination. One of her titles, Dead Man’s Island, has been made into a TV movie. In a Booklist review, Judy Coon said that “the most appealing attribute of [Hart’s] masterful, self-assured writing style is her wry humor.” NoveList Plus described her writing as “fast-paced [and] upbeat.” In Contemporary Authors (CA) Online, Carolyn Hart acknowledges that Agatha Christie has influenced her work. Ms. Hart also stated in CA, “I hope I will entertain readers, offer them a brief moment to rest in the sun, provide them respite from care.” Her roots are in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and her degree is from the University of Oklahoma. Carolyn Hart’s personal greeting for you is below. (Above partially adapted from Carolyn Hart’s Homepage [www.carolynhart.com] and Gale’s Literature Resource Center database.)

“My warmest thanks to all of you who read my books. Wonderful readers like you make it possible for me to be a writer. My 50th book - DEAD, WHITE, AND BLUE - is published today and I am grateful to all of you. I've been very lucky as a writer. God Bless - Carolyn Hart”
