Application deadline: November 29, 2013 WHAT IS IT? The Youth and Young Adult Ministry concentration is designed to shape youth and young adult ministry leaders through experience, discovery, reflection, challenge, and experimentation with fellow professionals. The program will provide a ‘ministry-embedded’ integration of theory and practice within a biblical theology of youth and young adult ministry.
WHEN DOES IT BEGIN? The teaching intensives for the first module will be February 13-March 3, 2014.
WHERE WILL THE INTENSIVES BE HELD? The first year’s intensives will be in Orlando, Florida; the third year will be at a location outside the United States. Intensives will be held at the Andrews campus in the second and fourth years.
HOW IS THE PROGRAM ORGANIZED? Each of the year-long study modules includes a teaching intensive. During
the program you will also participate in regional work groups, develop a context support group, establish a mentoring relationship, read and reflect on the best literature in the field, as well as develop and evaluate a professional project within the context of your own congregation or leadership responsibilities.
OUTCOMES – WHAT WILL THE PROGRAM ENABLE YOU TO DO? The DMin Youth and Young Adult Ministry develops competencies in these areas: · Academic Advancement – Acquire knowledge of current issues related to the field, engage the discipline through theological, sociological and psychological perspectives, and learn basic research skills. · Spiritual, Theological, and Personal Development – Integrate personal spiritual and theological perspectives into the practice of youth and young adult ministry. · Praxis – Enable participants to acquire skills pertinent to their practice in the field within the context of the church
