Black Belt Leadership Academy What: Children ages 5+ can learn moves, kicks, flips, and weapons from martial arts masters. Space is limited. When: Camps will run one week each in June, July, and August from 7:30am to noon. Late pickup options are available. Specific dates will be announced. Cost: Camps cost $40/day or $149/week. Broadway Optimists’ Baseball Camp What: Children ages 5-15 can improve their baseball skills. Participants receive a tee shirt, insurance, and tickets to either a Durham Bulls or Carolina Mudcats game. When: The camp will run June 23-27 from 9am to 12pm. Cost: The camp costs $50 and there is a $10 discount for siblings residing at the same residence.

Career Launch for Teens

First Baptist Church

What: Rising 9-12 graders can participate in activities at Boys & Girls Clubs of Sanford/Lee County ranging from college tours and STEM activities to swimming and field trips.

What: Basketball and volleyball camps for elementary aged children and older. Also, weekly day camp for children in grades K-6 (rising).

When: Throughout the summer. Cost: Free.

When: Basketball Fundamentals is in the evenings on July 29-August 1, Volleyball Camp is during the day on July 22-24. Day camp runs weekly from June through August (7:30am-5:30pm).

Cost: Basketball costs $20 flat, volleyball costs $15 flat, and day camp costs $120 per week.

CCCC Youth Camps

What: Children of all ages will experiment with crafts, cooking, art, photography, and crime solving on the college’s campus. There will also be football, basketball, and soccer camps as well as a leadership program for teens. When: Camps begin in early June. May 30 is the last day to register for most of the camps. Click here for information on the sports camps. Cost: Camp costs range from $19 to $40. Camps offered on the Harnett and Pittsboro campuses go up to $100. Find X Designs What: Sewing and fiber arts camps for children ages 8+. When: There will be half-day and full-day camps throughout the summer, as well as free demonstration classes for kids. Cost: Prices vary by activity and materials.

Girl Scouts What: Girls of all ages will learn to survive outside at this week-long camp held at San Lee Park. Girls do not have to be registered in Girl Scouts to attend. When: June 16-20, 8:45am-3:30pm Cost: $70. Discounts are available if a parent volunteers. How: Register online at www.nccoastalpines.org/node/2417.

Grace Christian School What: School aged children can build skills in tennis, soccer, and basketball. When: Camps are offered throughout the summer. Camps are usually from 9am to noon or from 6pm to 8pm. Note that 2014 details have not yet been published. Cost: Price ranges from $50 to $60. There are early bird discounts. Horseback Riding Camp What: Children ages 5 and up can learn to interact safely with animals, the basics of horse grooming, and more. There are camps for advanced riders and families, too.

Jordan Lake Boating Camp What: Children ages 7 to 14 will learn boating skills on kayaks and standup paddleboards. Each day has a different adventure theme. When: The first session begins on June 16 and run 9am to 4pm with options for early drop off and pick up. Cost: The cost is $335 per session. Junior Appalachian Musicians Camp What: Local musicians teach traditional instruments in the morning. Afternoons feature traditional camp activities. Camp is held at Silk Hope Farm Heritage Park for grades 3-8. When: June 16-20 from 8:30am to 4pm with extended care available. Cost: $175/week. Instrument rentals are $10/week with a $25 deposit. Lee County 4H What: A variety of fitness, robotics, sewing, baking, gardening, and crafting camps for children ages 6-18. Camp sizes are limited. When: The first camp begins on June 9. Camps range from three to five days and are usually three hours long. Cost: The cost of each camp is determined by the activities involved. The lowest price is $7 and highest is $35. Lee County Gymnastics What: Recreational gymnastics classes for children of all ages. When: Camps will be held throughout the summer at various times during the day and evening. Cost: Price ranges from $29 to $64 for the summer session, depending on the child’s age.

What: Children from newborn to age 7 can explore music and instruments.

How: Registration is May 29-30 (3-6pm) at 221 Commercial Court. Call 919-774-6445 for more information.

When: Week-long camps run in June and July from 9am to noon. Weekly camps run during July and August.

Lee County Library

Cost: $120 for the week-long camps and $50 for the weekly camps.

What: Reading-focused programs for children up to sixth grade.

Lee County Schools What: School-aged children can attend day offerings such as STEM, math and algebra readiness, and science. Offerings vary by year.

When: Camps run June 16 through August 8. You may choose the half-day (7:30am-noon) or full-day (7:30am-5:30pm) option. Cost: Half day costs $60 and full day costs $100.

How: Download and submit an application, found on the Lee County Schools’ website under “Headlines.” Application deadline is June 6.

Lee County YMCA

San Lee Park’s Cub Treks

What: Full-day camps for children in elementary and middle school. Each week will have a different theme. Camp is held at BT Bullock Elementary.

What: Children ages 3-5 and their parents can take a one-mile guided hike to explore the park’s treasures.

When: Camps begin June 16 and run through August 22. Earliest drop off is 7am and latest pick up is 6pm.

When: Treks will be on June 11, June 25, July 8, July 23, August 6, and August 20 from 10am to 11am.

Cost: Members pay $103; non-members pay $113. Rates are per week. Financial assistance is available.

Cost: These treks are free, though donations for the animals are encouraged.

What: Art camps for children in a variety of subjects that will be held in locations fitting the camp’s theme.

What: Children ages 3-18 can learn techniques and enhance their skills under the guidance of international coaches.

When: British camp runs June 23-June 27 and TetraBrazil camp details will be available soon. Times vary according to age.

Painted Petal What: Art classes for children ages 5 and up. Themes include American Girl, Crabby Canvas, and Creative Kids. When: Camps are offered in June and July (9am-11am). Cost: Price ranges from $20 to $25.

Sanford Elite Soccer Academy What: Soccer camp offered by Lee Christian School for children ages 7 through 19. When: Camp runs Tuesday, June 17 through Thursday, June 19 from 8:3011:30am for ages 7-12 and 5:30-8:30pm for ages 13-18.

Cost: $95 per player, includes a free soccer ball and cinch sack. Registration ends June 9.

Sanford Municipal Golf Course

Yoga Monkeys

What: Children ages 9-14 will learn golf etiquette and fundamentals. Campers will participate in a tournament on the last day.

What: Children ages 4-11 can learn yoga through creative play.

Stevens Center What: Art, fitness, and general interest camps for children ages 3+. Some camps are one day per week and others are week-long. Camp sizes are unlimited. When: Camps begin in late June and run through July. Cost: The cost of each camp varies from $20/week to $130/month. How: View camp schedules at www.stevenscenter.org. Download a form to send in, or register in person at the center on Kelly Drive.

Temple Theatre Youth Camps What: Rising kindergarteners through 2nd graders can participate in weekly theatre camps. Older youth can participate in the Summer Youth Conservatory. Camps end with a performance.

Take the whole family to Spring Lane Cinemas on Tuesdays and Thursdays for $1 movies (and $1 kids’ packs at the concession stand). Movie line-ups will be announced in June.



Head out to Depot Park on Thursday evenings for Function at the Junction, a free night of music sponsored by Downtown Sanford.

When: Rising Stars camps for younger children run June-August. There are two Conservatory sessions. Performance dates will be announced.
