Accepting Applications for the 2015-2016 HEAD START and Pre-K Programs! If you would like to enroll your child in the Goliad ISD Head Start and/or PK program you will need to complete an application. Applications are available for pick up beginning on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Goliad Head Start Office at 412 N. Market Street, Elementary School office at 102 W. High Street, or you may download from the GISD webpage, www.goliadisd.org/new-student . Classes will fill up fast so turn in your application as soon as possible. Children, 3 or 4 years of age on September 1 of the current school year, may be eligible by the following criteria for Head Start: o Students from families with income below the poverty level; or o Families who receive Public Assistance (proof of TANF/SSI Benefits); or o Children with disabilities per IDEA-B (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) as determined by an IFSP or ARD committee; or o Children in Foster Care (provide DFPS documentation); or o Children who are considered homeless as per McKinney Vento Law. Children, 4 years of age on September 1 of the current school year and meet one of the following requirements are eligible for enrollment in Pre-K: o be unable to speak and comprehend the English language (district must administer state approved assessment instrument to determine LEP students & approval by LPAC committee); or o be educationally disadvantage (eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program [NSLP]. TEC, 5.001(4) (Free/Reduced Lunch Program Guidelines - Provide SNAP EDG # if applicable); or o be homeless (as defined under the McKinney Vento Law); or o be the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the US, including state military forces or reserved component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority (documentation required); or o be the child of a member of the armed forces of the US, including the state military forces or a reserved component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty (documentation required); or o have ever been in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) (foster care) following an adversary hearing (approved paper work required.). To complete an application on your child, please bring the following: Proof of Income – REQUIRED (W-2 or 1040 and most recent pay stub), CERTIFIED copy of Child’s Birth Certificate, Child’s Current Immunization Records Child’s Social Security Number Enrolling Parent/Guardian Photo Identification (w/current address) Proof of Residency in Goliad County (property tax receipt/rent receipt, voters registration card, or other acceptable proof of residency)
