Like most Americans, you probably want to stay in your home as your grow older. However, as it gets harder to do the things on your own, you may need a helping hand with everyday tasks. It can be costly to pay for help at home, along with home modifications & other health needs. For many people, these extra costs are a real burden. Home equity or otherwise known as Reverse Mortgage is the difference between the appraised value of your home & what you owe on any mortgage. A reverse mortgage can help you convert some of your home equity into cash & continue to live at home for as long as you want. Using the equity in your home can seem like a good idea. But is it right for you? It is a decision you should consider carefully, because the house may be your most valuable financial asset. Obviously a Reverse Mortgage isn’t for everyone, but everyone should be aware that there are options. WHEN: WEDNESDAY

ACTIVITY# DATES 8016.101 Jan 20 8016.102 Feb 24 TIME: 2:00pm–4:00pm WHERE: East Room PRESENTER: Robbin Gray, Professional Senior Advisor at Robbin Gray Senior Planning Services PROGRAM SUPERVISOR: Debbie Donahue FEE: FREE! Space is limited! Please call to reserve a spot!

“PUP OF THE PINES” PHOTO CONTEST WINNER 2016 Name: BRUTUS

Age: 5 months old Owned by Hunter Simon, Brutus is a happy, healthy, fun-loving puppy. Brutus was born deaf, but he doesn’t know it! He thinks he is “King of the World.” He loves the neighborhood & playing outside. He has a great life with a wonderful family, who welcomed him with open arms. If you ever get to meet Brutus, you will hear him first. He wears a bell, so his family will know where he is. The second thing you will notice is his smile! Congratulations to Brutus! He’s won FREE dog park registration for 2016 & will be the face of Ocean Pines Dog Park for 2016!

BE SURE TO REGISTER YOUR DOG(S) FOR . . .

OCEAN PINES DOG PARK Located across from Manklin Meadows Racquet Sports Complex, the softball field & the Manklin Meadows playground The dog park provides opportunities for neighbors to socialize & share valuable, responsible pet ownership information because of the common bond shared by dog owners. The dog park brings people together & creates a greater sense of community. A well-socialized dog is less likely to develop behavior problems. In fact, dogs & puppies that get plenty of exercise by playing are less likely to bark excessively, destroy property, jump on passers-by & more. Indeed, a well-exercised dog becomes a happy, healthy, quiet dog & a better neighbor. Come out & allow your dog to run free & socialize with other dogs. To use the park, you must register your dog at the Community Center & pay the annual fee. Applicants are required to read & follow the Ocean Pines Dog Park “User’s Guide” & sign the “Acceptance of Risk & Release of Liability Waiver Form.” After registration, dog owners will receive an access pass dog tag that will allow entry into the appropriate dog area during the scheduled hours of operation. Passes are non-transferable. Dog passes & tag color change each year. New tags will be valid from May 1, 2016–April 30, 2017.
