Natural learning for Pre-Primary - 3-5 sessions per week
Greenman and The Magic Forest is a new Pre-primary course based on the adventures of two children, Nico and Sam, and their encounter with the magical protector of the forest – Greenman. Their animal friends from the forest also accompany them and the pupils as they learn about looking after the environment, enjoying the outdoors and having a healthy and active lifestyle. The course is based on stories along with fun songs and chants which focus on aspects of the holistic approach in pre-primary learning. The activities are designed to cater for all learning styles and take in mind the differing abilities at this age. Greenman and the Magic Forest features: • A whole-child holistic approach to learning
• A strong routine-based course with the seasons and nature as a central part of the course • Stories to combine the magic forest with children in real-life situations – a combination of fantasy and the real world which the children can relate to • Catchy songs are used with TPR (Total Physical Response) activities • A solid integrated phonics syllabus • A variety of activities that are clearly matched to the abilities of pre-primary pupils The approach and activities in Greenman and the Magic Forest take into account the differing abilities of children at an early age, using an integrated curriculum, which means that the pupils will not be studying English as a language on its own, but rather using it as a means to learn about the world around them.
Greenman and the Magic Forest has been written specifically for Spanish Pre-Primary pupils: • The concepts and objectives follow the Spanish pre-primary general curriculum helping children relate their English classes to the concepts learnt in their general classes. • A solid integrated phonics syllabus gives extra practice on the sounds Spanish speakers have more problems with. • The approach to literacy with pre-writing activities follows the approach in the Spanish classroom. • Teacher’s Book available in English and Spanish.

For teachers Digital Forest provides a wide range of interactive Whiteboard resources. The pupils will love the animated stories, action songs, videos, interactive flashcards posters and games (for core vocabulary and phonics). Read and listen to the text. What is the sun?
Our solar system has eight planets. Earth is the third planet. At the centre of our solar system is the sun. All the planets go around the sun. We say they orbit the sun. Each time a planet makes one orbit of the sun, it completes a year. The sun is not a planet. It is a star. The sun’s diameter (the distance from one side to the other side through the centre) is more than a million kilometres! Many of the planets have a moon. Moons orbit their planets. Earth has one moon but some planets have more than 50!

The fun course for seriously good results! - Suitable for Cambridge English: Young Learners preparation - 100 teaching hours, extendable to 140 - The Starter level (international edition) provides extra pre-literacy support and can be used for the last year of Pre-Primary
Kid’s Box gives children a confident start to learning English, and makes lessons a joy for teachers. Perfect for general use, it also fully covers the syllabus of the Cambridge English: Young Learners tests. The loveable characters will delight young learners as they introduce new language through amusing stories and practise it with fantastic songs and activities. Key language is continually revised and recycled, and a focus on communicative activities ensures
that children use the language in a ‘no-pressure’ context. Levels 5 and 6 focus strongly on skills and encourage reading for pleasure with a series of superb comic stories. To create the new edition of Kid’s Box we listened to the needs of teachers using the course. Thanks to their input, Kid’s Box is better than ever. Amongst the changes there are new phonics and values sections, grammar and functions boxes have been added and a new ‘My Home Booklet’ to help involve parents in their children’s learning.
Levels 1 to 6 include extra content specifically designed for Spanish speakers. • Spanish handwriting font used throughout levels 1 and 2 and in the Activity Book in levels 3 to 6. • ‘My Home Booklet’ helps involve parents in their children’s learning and provides a review of contents covered and the Basic Competences developed. • Pronunciation and phonics activities, together with the ‘Say it with me’ sections, focus on the most problematic individual sounds for Spanish speakers. • Pages dedicated to CLIL and Social awareness topics connect children to the world outside the English classroom. • Levels 5 and 6 include a ‘Get it right!’ section to help your pupils avoid typical grammar, vocabulary and spelling mistakes. This section is informed by the Cambridge Learner Corpus.

Robert lived in a flat in a tall grey building in the middle of a big city. When he looked out of his window, he could only see more tall grey buildings and lots of roads and noisy traffic. Sometimes, this made Robert feel sad. He liked watching television programmes about climbing mountains and going to places where there were waterfalls, lakes and beautiful beaches. He loved reading stories about ships that sailed across the sea and about people who lived on strange islands or in other exciting places.
Ten beautifully illustrated stories at each level will engage your pupils and motivate them to learn
‘Why must we live here in the city?’ he asked his mother. ‘Because my job at the busy hospital is here, Robert. But perhaps we can have a nice holiday in the countryside next summer. Would you like that?’ ‘Oh yes!’ Robert laughed.

Unless we do more to help them, they will disappear (5) . People are not allowed to (6) orangutans as pets in Indonesia. If any are (7) in private homes, they are taken to a rescue centre. When they are healthy enough, they are transferred to a (8) area in a national park. (9) of the orangutans that are rescued in this (10) end up living happily in the wild and produce babies. I’m a friendly person and I’m popular at school. I’m funny – I can make people laugh easily. I usually work hard and I’m polite to the teachers. Music is important to me. I had guitar lessons last year and I’m learning to play the keyboard now. I do a lot of sport. I play hockey twice a week and I go swimming every Tuesday. I’m teaching my little brother to swim at the moment. He’s really enjoying it.
I love school. Art’s my favourite subject. At the moment I’m painting a picture of the sea. I’m really pleased with it. I like to be busy – I’m not a lazy person. I also like helping other people. My neighbour’s quite old and I often go shopping with her. She always tells me I’m very kind. She is going to be 85 soon. My mum and I are planning a party for her.

3 When there is a lot of rain, a fast-flowing river moves even faster. A slow-flowing river moves faster too. But, because it is on flat land, the water comes up over the banks and covers the land around it. This is called a flood. The land around these rivers is called a flood plain.

RIVERS Rivers are very important for people all around the world. Without them our lives would be very different. But what do you know about rivers? Rivers are always changing. Changes happen over a long time because of the flow of a river. Flow is the energy and speed of the moving water. Rivers always go downhill, towards the sea or a lake.
BED
The River Thames is 346 kilometres long and is the second longest river in the United Kingdom. It flows east into the North Sea. The Thames is not a very fast-flowing river and so does not have V-shaped valleys. The river goes through the centre of London. Can you see the meander in the photo? The last big flood of the Thames was in 1928, when the centre of London was under water. In 1984 they built the Thames Barrier and this stops the river flooding. The barrier is made of ten gates. They are as high as a five-storey building and they weigh 3,300 tonnes each!
The River Thames
TWO THINGS CAN MAKE THE FLOW OF A RIVER CHANGE. Rainfall. A lot of rain means there is more water in the river, so it moves faster. The land. If the river is on steep land, then it moves faster. If the river is on flat land, then it moves more slowly.
When the flow of a river changes, then the form or shape of the river also changes and it looks different.
