EARLY LEARNING ACADEMY
2007 CELEB -2017 RATIN G
10 YEA RS! OF LEA RN & GRO ING WING
EARLY LEARNING ACADEMY SIX WEEKS TO AGE FIVE The Early Learning Academy at the Y provides enriching experiences that facilitate a child’s cognitive social, physical, and emotional growth. We use Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold Assessment Tool, both are research based and designed to prepare your child for lifelong learning. These strategies focus on building a classroom community and strengthening social/emotional skills while integrating content learning in the areas of math, language and literacy, science, social studies and the arts. We strive to meet the developmental needs and temperament of each child by working in partnership with families. Our child care and preschool, licensed by the State of Illinois, provide a curriculum focused on education, leadership, and character development. At the Y we believe that the first five years of life are the foundation for future success in school and beyond. We help children develop positive behaviors and values that stay with them throughout their life. The Early Learning Academy taps into each child’s unique strengths and interests to help develop confident learners. Using the Creative Curriculum in both our child care and preschool gives parents the option for full day, full year care OR half day preschool. The Early Learning Academy offers the perfect balance of learning through play and intentional teaching. Using science, social studies and “first hand” experiences as a segue to learning, children develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills necessary for Kindergarten.

10 OF OUR
BEST MEMORIES TO CELEBRATE 10 YEARS! 2007 brought on a big upgrade for the Academy; we moved into a newly built space – just for us! In 2012, we upgraded our curriculumn to be in-line with Common Core State Standards giving our teachers and children a clear set of standards and goals. Christmas concerts, a Circus Show and other after-school events were added in response to growing interest by families, staff and children! Educational field trips to Keiper's, the Firehouse, Dupage Children's Museum, Sandwich Opera House, Oswego Splash Pad, NCG Movie Theatre, and more! Introduced family-style serving to our lunch program featuring healthy and nutritional meals that promote relationship building and conversations about food. A 2015 grant from Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley brought increased security at the Academy entrance. Dedicated staff who have celebrated over 10 years with us and Chris Blazejack, who has been with us since our opening day. As of 2015, we celebrated a 65% renention rate for kids 6 months - 3 years. Another testament to our amazing teaching staff! In 2016, we partnered with Plano and Yorkville Schools to make the transition from Preschool to Kindergarten easy, fun and exciting! School may be out, but learning is always in! We added Summer Enrichment Programs (S.P.F) to stop learning loss in the summer months.
EARLY LEARNING ACADEMY 0-3 YEARS PROGRAM
PRESCHOOL 3-5 YEARS PROGRAM
In the infant classroom, our primary emphasis is meeting the infant’s daily needs and providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Children are provided experiences that foster and develop their cognitive, social/emotional, and motor skills while encouraging their independence. Infants are engaged in developmentally appropriate toys, books, stories and finger plays throughout the day. They are learning through routines and attachments to their caregivers. Infant daily nap and meal schedule are based on the infant’s individual needs.
The three to five year old classrooms focus on the growth and development of the whole child: physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Activities and classroom centers are oriented to the child’s interest and developmental levels. Our three to five year olds are able to make choices in a variety of areas including: art and sensory activities, dramatic play, stories and books, music and movement, fine and large motor development and much more.
FULL DAY / FULL YEAR INFANT PROGRAM {6 weeks - 15 months 1:4 Ratio}
TODDLERS {16-24 months 1:5 Ratio} In the toddler classroom, children are introduced to a more structured and regular routine. Children are provided an environment that encourages exploration and curiosity through child-initiated and teacher-guided activities. Toddlers have opportunities to make choices in art, sensory, exploration, problem-solving, music, books, self-help skills, and interactive play. The toddler classroom provides a rest time as part of the daily schedule.
TWOS {1:8 Ratio} In the two’s classroom, the children discover a stimulating environment arranged into various interest and learning centers. Our goal for our two year olds include: developing valuable selfhelp skills such as potty training, personal hygiene, dressing self and putting toys away. We also focus on building cognitive skills, such as counting, sorting, recognizing letters, colors and shapes. Another important skill we work on is interacting with others. We have many opportunities for sharing, listening and taking turns. The two’s classroom provides a rest time as part of the daily schedule.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION Find handbook and enrollment forms online or stop by our Early Learning Academy front desk to enroll your child. Enrollment for full day/full year programs includes a security deposit and a non-refundable $50 registration fee. Program rates include a FREE YOUTH MEMBERSHIP - upgrade to a Family Membership for just $44/month. Siblings of enrolled children will pay a reduced registration fee of $35. AQUATICS YMCA SWIM LESSONS
Our swim lessons are Kendall County’s best way for your child to learn to swim safely! Learning to swim is the most important thing your child can do when it comes to reducing the risk of drowning. The Fox Valley Family YMCA is proud to offer swim lessons following the newest Y USA curriculum. The Y USA Swim Lesson Program helps adults, children and families learn an important life skill and supports them in gaining the knowledge, ability, and stamina to become strong and confident swimmers. If you are new to the program or are not sure what level to place your child, take advantage of a free swim evaluation. The Aquatics Staff will determine the appropriate level for your child. Registering for the appropriate swim level will help your child get the maximum benefit from the class. Evaluation dates do not necessarily match up with class start dates.

But when things go wrong, the result is FRACTURE. Osteoporosis is the condition associated with fractures. In the US alone, there is an estimated 2 million fractures from Osteoporosis, a number that continues to rise as our population ages. The Fox Valley Flyers is a competitive gymnastics team that competes in USAG meets as well as YMCA Nationals. Each year the YMCA Nationals is held in a different State. Last year, the Flyers traveled to Long Beach California and this year they traveled to Savannah, Georgia. This year's nationals was one our most successful producing 3 All Around Winners! At Level 3, Zoe Rowe placed 1st in the child-age division and Ashlyn Banning placed 1st in the senior-age division. At Level 4, Amanda Skinner place 1st in the Sr division. We are so proud of them and the entire National Team! Team try-outs are held in June as part of our gymnastics camp. All gymnasts that would like to be considered for the competition team must attend camp. Our goal as coaches is to not only make this a strong winning team, but to teach our girls the importance of working together and supporting each other. We truly believe what they learn here will stay with them long after their gymnastics careers.

JOIN OUR TEAM WORK FOR THE Y!
As the largest charity in Kendall County, the Fox Valley Family YMCA serves over 20,000 people annually at over a dozen locations spanning across two counties and we need YOU to complete our team! The Y is a mission-centered, cause-driven charity organization dedicated to the people in each of the communities we serve. Going to work knowing that what you do each day has a profound effect on the lives of the people in your community is an opportunity few employers can offer. Working at the Y, you’ll discover more than a job—you’ll enjoy a career with a future and the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of those around you. We work with people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds and life experience and you’ll enjoy the personal satisfaction that comes from nurturing the potential of youth and teens, improving your community's health and well being and providing support to our neighbors. The Y positively impacts lives everyday – maybe today is the day you join the cause and start making a difference too. Stop by either branch to pick up an employment application or download one at our website.
