After a cold and snowy winter, I’m sure all of us are excited for sunnier, warmer, longer summer days! From taking in beautiful sunsets in our parks, participating in camps and activity classes, stewardship volunteer opportunities, and getting together at our summer concerts like the Essential LO Volunteer Appreciation Concert (pg 46), there are a variety of ways to get outdoors, and live well in LO this summer. One way to live well is by registering for one of our 60 camps offered this summer. We are excited to include a brand new addition into this Summer Catalog - our Camp Guide Booklet Insert. Take it out, give it to your kids to select what they want to do, or take it with you to better plan the activities and classes you and your family will do this summer! Even pets have new ways to live large and live well in LO this summer. As part of a pilot program, we are testing new off-leash areas at 4 new parks in Lake Oswego -- McNary, Southwood, Pilkington and West Waluga. These off-leash areas will be available to dogs until September 15th, then followed by evaluation and reassessment to determine a permanent change. Therefore, I encourage you and your furry friends to get outdoors and get their paws dirty to test out these new offleash opportunities! Our department is also excited to announce progress with the design and development of 2 new parks -- Iron Mountain Park and Woodmont Natural Park. We are concluding the public design process for Iron Mountain Park that will include trailhead parking, restroom, nature play, and a mix of manicured and natural meadow areas. We have just began the process for Woodmont Natural Park and will be hosting 2 public outreach events in May and July.

Now back in action at age 78, he’s backed by a hot band of Portland’s best session and solo players, The Pain. Be Our Guest for an epic concert celebrating community difference makers that inspire and enrich LO each and every day. LIVING WELL IN LO
Hello Park Friends! Welcome to spring and summer time in your LO Parks! I encourage you to take a jog, ramble, or stroll through these highlighted parks in our system. Springbrook Park is a woody 52 acre natural area located at 2899 Diane Dr. and holds two plus miles of trail rolling beneath dense stands of Red Alder and Big Leaf Maple trees. Native wildlife abound, it is common to observe spotted towhee, or an owl in flight during an evening walk. The Park has an active and dedicated friends group that works on projects to keep the park healthy and thriving. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed at all times. River Run Park is located at 19690 River Run Drive and contains the head waters of Oswego Lake. The park also has a quarter mile walking loop along the Tualatin River with opportunities to see Bald Eagles and Osprey in flight. Recently, the seven acre space was cleared of all invasive plant species and 2,600 native plants were planted back with the help of park partners and volunteers. Walk through the park eco-system now to see the young plants as they begin to flourish. Dogs are also welcome, on-leash only. For further information on our parks system, our stewardship, and volunteer opportunities please visit Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation website at www.ci.oswego.or.us/parksrec
