In this packet you will find information including the Invitational schedule, order of events, entry procedures, meet rules and equipment information. Our department holds the execution of all home athletic events to the highest standard and we want to ensure that you are provided with all necessary information. Practices are also available on March 4th starting at 8:00am in the Competition Pool. SC time trials will occur at the conclusion of the final event of each prelims session. There will be a minimum 15 minute break between sessions, during which time trials may occur. Time trials may also occur at the conclusion of finals sessions.
ENTRY PROCEDURES 1. The entry fee will be $50 per team, payable on site via credit card or check 2. All entries are to be submitted on Hy-Tek software to Frank Croft at
[email protected]. 3. The Hy-Tek file will be emailed out to participating teams and has been included in the email with this Meet Packet. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, February 28th. a. Swimmers may swim a maximum of 3 individual events with a 7 event limit including relays. b. The standard NCAA Championship three-day format without platform diving will be utilized. There will be a minimum of a 15-minute break between prelims and finals. 4. Rules of the Meet a. The Meet will be conducted and officiated under NCAA rules for a championship meet with trials and finals. b. No one may scratch finals. c. The 1650 will be seeded fastest to slowest. d. All heats of the 1650 will be scheduled to start as the last event of the Day 3 prelims. 5. Time Trials a. To be conducted at the end of each session. b. Per Rule 3-5-2, each competitor or relay team is limited to 1 time-standard trial per event per meet. 6. Scoring a. No team score will be kept.
MEET INFORMATION Meet Rules/Format This Meet will follow the NCAA Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving 2017-18 and 2018-19 Rules and Interpretations, unless otherwise stated in this meet book. Division I institutions choosing to participate in end-of-season meets should refer to NCAA Bylaw 17 for playing and practice seasons regulations that govern the 20 maximum allowable dates of competition. Further, all countable contests must be conducted per established bona fide competition rules as outlined in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 NCAA Swimming and Diving Rules Book, and all meet results must be submitted to USA Swimming within 72 hours of the competition's completion and/or before the end of the established qualifying period, which is Sunday February 25, 2018, for the women and Sunday, March 4, 2018, for the men. Coaches’ Meetings The Swimming Coaches’ Meeting will be held at 11:30am. The Coaches’ Meetings will be held in the Wet Classroom, located on the West side of the competition pool on the deck level.
Backstroke Ledges CTS backstroke ledges will be available. Massage Therapy Massage therapists and massage tables will not be provided, but may be brought in by individual teams. Massage tables may be erected on the north deck under the scoreboard. Oils and grease are to be kept off the tile. Notify the facility staff if any spills occur. Practices Competing athletes will be able to practice on Saturday, March 3rd (4:30p-8:30p) in the Competition Pool. Practices are also available on March 4th starting at 8:00am in the Competition Pool. Relay Judging Platforms Colorado Timing Systems Relay Judging Platforms will be used, and will be used to determine disqualifications. Reaction times will be printed and be distributed with results. Starting Block Kickplates Kick plates will be available at all starting blocks for all meets at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. For relays, all movement of kick plates is the responsibility of student-athletes or team personnel from the respective competing team. Team Seating Teams will be seated on both sides of the pool deck. There is no assigned team seating. Team Banners Teams are welcome to bring their banners and give them to Ohio State event staff to be hung. Time Trials Short course time trials will be available following each prelim and finals sessions. Please let the Head Table know if you would like to swim a time trial. Timers Ohio State will seek volunteers from the stands to serve as lane timers. Towels Towel service will not be provided during the Invitational. Please be courteous of area hotels and return any towels borrowed by student-athletes. Website/Results Event results will be distributed to each team. Results will be posted online and also emailed to each coach following the Meet. If you would like an email address added to the distribution list, please let the Head Table staff know.
FACILITY INFORMATION Admission Admission to the 2018 Ohio State Invitational is free. Athletic Training Services A certified athletic trainer will be on duty during Official Team Warm-ups and Competition times. Please see the following pages for additional information on Athletic Training and Medical Services. Changing Facilities Two on-deck changing rooms are located on the west side of the deck for visiting teams. Belongings may be stored on deck on or under team bleachers. The Ohio State University is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. A separate changing room will be provided for officials. Parking Teams will be permitted to unload their buses in the traffic circle adjacent to McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion near the Neil Avenue Garage or in the circle on Annie & John Glenn Avenue near Ohio Stadium. Buses will be directed by event staff to a designated parking area. Teams driving vans or cars will be provided parking passes for the Neil Avenue, Tuttle, Lane Avenue, or Ohio Union Garages. If you are in need of additional parking, please contact Evan Derr (
[email protected]) in advance of the meet. Prohibited Items Lawn or camping chairs, noisemakers, shakers and helium balloons are not permitted. The Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion is a substance free facility. Use of tobacco, alcohol and illegal substances are prohibited both inside and directly outside the facility. Security and Deck Access Participating athletes, coaches, officials, media and working personnel will be permitted access to the Aquatic Pavilion deck level. Admittance to the Recreation and Physical Activity Center (RPAC) is controlled. Individuals who wish to explore the facility may enter at the main RPAC entrance directly across from the Aquatic Pavilion entrance and request a tour. On behalf of the Ohio State University, we welcome you to Columbus. I hope to make your trip as smooth as possible. We will have the following medical supplies and services available to you throughout your visit:
Water and cups as well as injury ice, bags, and wrap will be on deck for your convenience. Modalities will be available in the Athletic Training room located just off of the deck adjacent to the diving well. We will have ice bags, ice cups, hot packs, cold whirlpool, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation at your disposal. (If an ATC is not traveling with your team, a physician prescription will be required for ultrasound or electrical stimulation treatments.) A Certified Athletic Trainer will be in attendance for all competitions and a Team Physician will be in attendance or on call for all competitions. All medical emergencies will be transported to Ohio State Medical Center located on campus adjacent to the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
