WALK-IN: Falls Church Community Center, 223 Little Falls Street, Falls Church, VA 22046. We accept checks, exact cash and credit cards. ONLINE: Online registration can be found on the internet by visiting www.fallschurchva.gov/register. Full payment is required at the time of registration and you must use a credit card (American Express, Discover, Master Card, or Visa). PHONE-IN: Phone-in registration starts on the second day of registration: February 6th and February 13th. Phone-in registration with credit cards only to (703) 248-5027. There will be no phone-in registration on the first day of resident or non-resident registration. FEES: Payment must accompany registration. FINANCIAL AID: Financial aid is available for City of Falls Church residents. Forms are available at the Falls Church Community Center or by calling 703-248-5027. CANCELLATION POLICY: The City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department reserves the right to cancel camps and programs for which there is insufficient registration. Camps with insufficient registrations are canceled one week prior to the start of camp. In addition, there is limited enrollment for all programs. PHOTOGRAPHIC RELEASE: By participating in programs and using our facilities, you are granting the City of Falls Church and the Parks and Recreation Department permission to use photographic images of you and/ or your minors for marketing purposes. EXTENDED CARE: Extended Care is located at the Falls Church Community Center and will be available for most camps. Please review individual camp descriptions for extended care availability, time and cost. If the camp is not located at the Community Center, then transportation to and from extended care will be provided, unless otherwise noted. Campers in extended care should bring a snack or money to purchase snack for extended care hours. Additional fees will be charged for campers who are picked up later than 6pm.
REFUND POLICY: The Recreation and Parks Department will provide a full credit or refund for a camp if the camp is cancelled by the Department, or upon request when schedule or location changes made by the Department prohibit or limit an individual's ability to attend a camp. For any reason other than those noted above, a “Request for Refund/ Household Credit” form must be completed and submitted at least two weeks before the start of camp. Requests for a refund made at least 14 calendar days before the start of camp will be granted, less a 20% processing fee. Requests for a credit made at least 14 calendar days before the start of camp will be granted, less a 10% processing fee. Requests less than two weeks before camp starts will only be granted for medical reasons (doctor’s note required) or for relocation of more than 25 miles away from the City. No refunds or household credits will be given if the request for such is submitted less than 2 weeks before the camp starts, nor after it has ended. This also applies to AM and PM Extended care. Inner Quest has different policies which are listed in their description. NOTE: If your child has a disability or requires special attention for any reason, advanced notice is appreciated so that we may properly prepare. WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT SUMMER CAMP! Each child will need to bring a lunch with drink and an afternoon snack daily. There is no refrigeration. Campers will need to wear comfortable shoes, as well as clothes that can get dirty. Swimsuit and towel for swim days where applicable. Some camps are held outside for extended periods of time. Please have children wear and bring sun block. If a child needs to take medication, you must complete the proper paper work and give medication to the Camp Director. Forms are available by emailing

Recreation and Parks Department Camps - Summer Fun & Swimming Summer Fun Playground Program—Rising First through Rising Sixth Graders The Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department is offering a traditional playground program for rising first through rising sixth graders. Children will enjoy a fun-filled summer including sports, afternoon swimming, arts and crafts, games, special events and field trips. Time is also available for unstructured play. Each week's activities are centered around a theme. The camp runs Monday through Friday, 9am-3pm. Camp is located at Cherry Hill Park. A policy manual will be E-mailed to all participants. The Summer Fun Playground Program goes on weekly field trips. Field trips have an additional fee typically between $10-$18. On field trip days, there is no camp program for children who are not registered for the field trip. Field trip details will become available on May 1, 2018.

Swim Lessons The City of Falls Church offers American Red Cross swim lessons taught by Water Safety Instructors. These lessons are held at Park Towers, 200 N. Maple Avenue, Falls Church, VA 22046. Lessons are held during rain but will be rescheduled in the event of lightning. Sessions are two weeks long and cost $110 for City residents and $130 for non-City residents. Session B is discounted to $100 and $120 respectively. Summer Fun participants are escorted to swim lessons by a counselor. *No lessons July 4 Toddler and Me 18 months-3 years Young swimmers will learn how to enter and exit the water with assistance from their caretaker. They will work on blowing bubbles, moving arms and legs independently. Course participants will learn safety in and around water. Nursery rhymes, songs and floating toys will be part of the class. Advanced 6-11 years Students will improve on freestyle and elementary backstroke and will be introduced to backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and sidestroke. We'll provide children with different art mediums to do creative projects, connect the topic of the week to the books we read, to the music and to the songs we sing and enjoy a snack. Restaurant Creations 6-10 years If your Tiny or Gourmet Chef dreams of someday having their own restaurant, sign them up for this inventive camp! Each day the students will produce a different course (appetizer, soup, main dish or dessert) or an item from a certain cuisine and build a restaurant around it. Over the course of the camp, they will also be working on a final idea for their own restaurant, expanding on the types of foods their particular restaurant would serve based on the experiences they have had in camp. Tiny Dancers 3-5 years Tiny Dancers camps are designed as an introduction to ballet for girls and boys ages 3-5. Camp Olympia- Horseback Riding 8-15 years The campers will ride twice a day (4 times per week = 8 rides per week) and swim daily. Children ages 10 and up would have a variety of unmounted horse activities including leading horses, unsaddling, grooming, bathing horses, cleaning tack, plus general barn responsibilities. Campers ages 10 and above who wish to may participate in other camp activities for their age group in lieu of unmounted activities. Campers ages 8 and 9 years old will have unmounted activities on Thursday only but have the opportunity to participate in other camp activities such as swimming, tennis, soccer, basketball, and other games. Shorts and tennis shoes are appropriate for all camp activities except swimming and horseback riding. This week with Virginia Fishing Adventures offers campers the opportunity to learn beginner and intermediate tactics for freshwater fishing in nearby private ponds and rivers, as well as the Chesapeake Bay. We have access to some excellent private waters where campers are assured success. Our counselor-to-camper ratio is 1 -to-5 to allow for one-on-one instructional time each day. Youth must be at least 13 by June 18, 2018. CIT’s assist camp staff with daily activities such as preparing arts and crafts projects, supervising and assisting campers with activities, and being a good leader. Volunteering as a CIT is a fun way to gain experience working with children, a sense of responsibility and leadership skills. The fee to be a CIT is $35/week.
