Yahrzeits Observed This Week
at 5:30 PM in Berkovitz Hall. Please bring an unused book appropriate for ages 5 and up which we will be sending to Israel to help children learn English. This project is spearheaded by former Temple teacher and our dear friend, Sharon Sapir. We are also asking everyone to bring your own Hanukah menorah to light during the party. There is no charge to attend. If you missed the RSVP deadline but would like to attend, please contact Tammy Serebrin as soon as possible.

We recall with loving memory those whose Yahrzeits will be commemorated. The names of the dearly departed are read on the Shabbat preceding their yahrzeit. It is appropriate for members of their families to be present at the service when their names are read.

Richard Perlman will be visiting Temple Emanuel. Rabbi Perlman has served Temple Am David, a USCJ synagogue in Warwick, RI since 2000. He was hired as their Cantor, Spiritual Leader and Religious School Director. In 2008 he was honored to become their "Lifetime Spiritual Leader." In 2010 he added the role of Administrator, and in January of 2012 he became ordained as their Rabbi. He is a practicing Conservative Rabbi who participates in many local community organizations. He serves as a guest lecturer at local colleges and other educational forums. He is actively involved in interfaith endeavors and holds a supervisory certificate in the laws of Kashrut. Rabbi Perlman comes from a rich musical heritage. "The Cantors Perlman", which includes his father Ivan (a highly respected Cantor) and his three brothers Eli (a rabbi), Emmanuel (a Cantor) and Josh (a Cantor) have been featured on PBS and have performed throughout the United States and Israel. Prior to serving Temple Am David, he served as Cantor for 10 years at Temple Beth David in Narragansett, RI. Rabbi plays the guitar and has co-authored a Jewish songbook for children. Rabbi Perlman and his wife Catherine ("Kit") are the parents of grown children Jessica, Michael, Owen and Kristina. "Kit" enjoys such hobbies as gardening and cooking. Rabbi enjoys teaching, and transmitting the lessons and spirituality of Judaism to students of all ages and levels of knowledge. LET US WARMLY WELCOME THE PERLMANS TO OUR SYNAGOGUE!!
