SQL Database Administrator (Cloud) DCR is seeking a full time experienced Database Administrator who will act as a senior technical member of DCR Technologies team with overall 8+ years of rich experience in database management and administration. Individual must have experience implementing high availability (HA), database clustering and SQL AlwaysOn in SQL 2014. Database Administrator will be responsible to manage development, testing and production databases of DCR’s Smart Track application (visit www.dcrworkforce.com) that involves OLTP and Data Warehouse databases. Essential Responsibilities:
Install and maintain MS SQL Server databases for development, testing and production environments for OLTP and Data Warehouse Resolve blocking and deadlocking issues. Analyze high CPU / memory consuming jobs for performance tuning Planning and managing ETL job schedules within available time window Manage and implement High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions including MS Cluster Server, Database Mirroring, SQL Always On and SQL Replication in cloud Ensure high availability and uptime of production databases 1
Ensure backup, recovery, archiving, and database integrity Perform advanced database administration including installation, configuration, monitoring, space management and testing of disaster recovery procedures Evaluate, test and deploy new releases, patches, and upgrades related to the database systems Collaborate with data modelers, developers, testers and end users to deploy new data objects and to maintain existing data objects Implement scripts to automate routine database administration tasks including database restores to development, QA and stage environments Continuously monitor the database activities to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues Review database object’s design and ETL job designs to make recommendations for enhancements or improvements Volumetric analysis for existing and additional data to estimate database growth which will be used to estimate the future space requirement Maintain a secure environment across all application environments including data scrubbing Perform Database administration activities for DB Security (creating logins, users, roles, and assigning permission to them) Write database documentation, including database standards and procedures Create and maintain metadata about Database servers, Schema and any related technical components Work with developers and designers to do SQL tuning for faster query Knowledge of Indexes, Partitions and Views to improve the database performance Knowledge of DTS/SSIS to suggest changes for faster processing and loading of data Experience in managing test data and seed/ master data for development and test environments
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related area 8+ years of experience as a DBA with at least 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator with Microsoft SQL Server in a production environment Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or equivalent MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional), or Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) in Windows Server and Windows Server SQL Server. Specialization in one supported application: VMWARE, Exchange, Linux Shell Scripting. Specialization may be substituted by a certification in A+ or Server+. Working knowledge of relational databases and client-server concepts preferred. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Experience with SQL 2016 a plus Experience implementing scripts to automate routine database administration tasks Must have experience with configuring, implementing and supporting high availability SQL Server environments (Always On), including experience with database replication and failover clustering Knowledge of SSRS, SSIS, T-SQL and SP in Microsoft SQL Server 2014 2
Performance Tuning of database using Index tuning, table partitioning and space planning
Expert in Disaster Recovery Planning, Security Management, Database server management
and clients Experience managing large SQL server databases over 100 GB
Experience with IIS (Internet Information Services) 7.0 + Experience managing SQL server databases in a virtualized environment Experience with tuning query performance, examining execution plans, using traces and other performance diagnostic tools Familiarity with 3rd party tools (e.g. Red-Gate) or in-house developed tools to troubleshoot database issues Familiarity with PowerShell scripts Excellent written and verbal communication skills
