A Jersey Proud and Green Day This Super Bowl Sunday, we celebrate. We welcome the teams, the superb athletes and everyone who traveled here to participate in the festivities and enjoy the game. We have been a Jersey Proud company since being established more than 100 years ago with the name Public Service and with the mission to make the Garden State a better place to work and live. That mission hasn’t changed. Today, we are feeling an extra measure of Jersey pride. Through an innovative partnership with the National Football
League’s Environmental Program, PSEG is helping reduce Super Bowl XLVIII’s environmental footprint by providing renewable energy credits equal to the four-week output of our 3-megawatt Kearny Solar Farm, located on a landfill close to where the game will be played. That’s roughly the same amount of energy it takes to power the Super Bowl. In recent years, we’ve been busy putting thousands upon thousands of solar panels on unused brownfields and landfills, as well as on utility poles and rooftops across New Jersey, in support of the state’s Energy Master Plan. Our green energy
initiatives are not only improving the environment, but creating jobs. And we’ve also responded to the strong desire of people everywhere for emissions-free renewable energy with our solar facilities in 5 other states – Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida and Ohio. With green energy for Super Bowl XLVIII, a brighter energy future has come one step closer into view, for the entire world to see. That’s something important to celebrate this Super Bowl Sunday – and continue building together.
