COURSE OVERVIEW CMS's Final Rule mandates that nursing homes will strengthen their infection prevention systems and implement an effective antimicrobial stewardship program. In this presentation, we will review the Final Rule on infection prevention and introduce participants to the Education, Quality Improvement, and Infection Prevention (EQuIP) program, which is designed to address educational needs and to provide mentorship to the novice Infection Preventionists in long term care. We will discuss key features of this program, and how you can prepare to develop and implement a robust infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship program in your setting. The webinar will focus on the following: Defining the implications of HHS rule changes for nursing homes and the timeline for implementation. Providing guidance and tools to assist achieving requirements such as appointing an Infection Control Officer, developing an antimicrobial stewardship program, and developing emergency preparedness plans. Defining steps to successful implementation of a robust infection prevention program
