Agreement of Participation By registering and submitting a Business Plan ("the Entry") to the RMIT Business Plan Competition ("the Competition"), each Applicant (i.e. each individual currently involved with the business represented) agrees to the following terms and conditions: Originality of Plan The ideas and concepts set forth in the Entry, and the Entry itself, are the original work of the Applicants and that each Applicant is not under any agreement or restrictions which prohibit or restrict his or her ability to disclose or submit such ideas or concepts to the Competition. Applicants who are RMIT staff members are required to disclose their status.

Compliance with Guidelines of the Competition Each Applicant has reviewed the Entry Guidelines ("the Guidelines") and certifies that this entry and the team it represents complies with the Guidelines and agrees to abide by the Guidelines. Entry Guidelines      

You must have a team of at least two people. The team leader must be a current actively enrolled RMIT University Student until the end of 2015 (October/November). All Competition deadlines must be adhered to. All Competition word and page limits must be adhered to. In all cases the Competition Judges’ decisions are final. Scores will not be altered or reconsidered. The spirit of the Competition is to foster entrepreneurial activities within RMIT and the community by engaging participants in good faith and aiming to foster successful business, organisation or community ideas with socially responsible outcomes. Competition Judges reserve the right to disqualify any entry that contravenes the guidelines and/ or spirit of the Competition.

Persons not eligible to enter the Competition are:    

Current RMIT staff members associated directly or indirectly with the Competition. Past RMIT staff members who were associated directly or indirectly with the Competition less than 24 months prior to Round 1 registration. People who are 2015 mentors, judges or sponsors. People who, at the discretion of the Competition Manager are considered to have a possible conflict of interest or an unreasonable advantage over other applicants, or whose participation could be perceived as jeopardising the integrity and good standing of the Competition and/ or RMIT University.

Intellectual Property Protection RMIT (the principal sponsor and organiser of the RMIT Business Plan Competition), has taken reasonable measures to assure that all Applicants retain their rights to their business plans and any associated intellectual property. Organisers, judges and mentors sign confidentiality agreements which extend for six months after the public announcement of the winners of the 2015 Competition year.

Copies of these confidentiality agreements are available from the organisers. The Competition can not and will not take further responsibility to protect the intellectual property or other rights of the Applicants. The protection of these rights is the ultimate responsibility of each Applicant. Applicants are urged to mark as "CONFIDENTIAL" any portion of their Entries which they consider to be confidential. Applicants should be careful about disclosing any patentable concepts in their Entries given that in Australia, patent applications must be lodged prior to any public disclosure.

Waivers and Releases Each Applicant understands that RMIT, each of the sponsors, judges, mentors, organisers (the "Competition Officials") and its directors, officers, partners, employees, consultants and agents (collectively "Organiser Representatives") are volunteers and are under no obligation to render any advice or service to any Applicant. The views expressed by the judges, sponsors, organisers, and the Organiser Representatives are their own and not those of RMIT or any person or entity for whom they work or with which they are associated. Each Applicant also understands and agrees, that although the Competition Officials have taken and will take the steps described in the Guidelines regarding confidentiality of the ideas and plans submitted by the Applicants, the legal protection of the ideas and plans submitted by the Applicants to the Competition is otherwise the sole responsibility of the Applicant. In consideration of the time, expertise and other resources provided by the Competition Officials and Organiser Representatives to the Competition, each Applicant hereby voluntarily releases each Competition Official and each Organising Team Member from any liabilities, responsibilities, and accountabilities relating to or arising out of such Competition Officials or Organiser Representative's participation in the Competition other than the obligations undertaken by such person pursuant to any confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement agreed to by such person.
