Alabama Master Naturalist Program Workshop for adults who enjoy & and want to learn more about Alabama’s natural resources!
Title: Alabama’s Geology and Soils Program Date: August 29, 2013 The final program of the current AMN training program for the Greater Birmingham area is scheduled for Thursday, August 29 at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. This session is titled Alabama’s Geology and Soils. The morning session will feature Dr. Jim Lacefield, well-known expert and author on Alabama’s geology. During the remainder of the day, we will continue learning about Alabama’s geological history, the soils of Alabama and how agricultural practices have changed to help farmers in Alabama to be better stewards of the environment. During the final part of the afternoon session, we will talk about the future of the AMN program in the Birmingham Area and the role you can play in helping it to grow, where and how you can complete volunteer service hours, how to report your hours and other related items. *As a bonus, Dr. Lacefield’s newest edition of “Lost Worlds” should be available for purchase at this meeting for $29.95 (there may also be tax, but I’m not sure). If you want to purchase a copy, let me know so that we can have enough copies on hand.
