ARTISTS RULES AND REGULATIONS Overview:
Now in its sixth year, the Algiers Folk Art Festival is the only festival dedicated to the promotion of our region’s folk/self-‐taught artists. The free event gives artists greater visibility and, in turn, creates long-‐term opportunities for selling their work. The festival is juried: all artists must submit photographs or provide a website that show their works to be considered for participation. September 15: Artist applications due September 30: Artists notification of acceptance/non-‐acceptance
Important dates: Festival location: 207 Leboeuf Street (Algiers Point) Important info: — ONLY original folk / outsider art — NO prints — Artists must be present at the festival — Artists may not sublease space Event date & times: Artist check-‐in: 10 am – noon (no load-‐in will be allowed after noon) Festival hours: 1 – 7 pm Artist load-‐out: 7 – 8 pm Fees: Upon acceptance, a non-‐refundable fee of $125 is due via cash, check, or money order (made payable to Algiers Folk Art Zone) Booth space: — Each artist will be assigned a 10' x 10' space — Artists must provide their own tables, table coverings, electricity, and any other equipment needed — All non-‐display materials must be hidden from view (boxes, containers, packing materials) — Tents: artists can provide their own pre-‐approved pop-‐up tent for the 10’ x 10’ space OR rent a tent from the festival for $25.00 (advise festival when fee is paid if tent is needed) Cancellation: In the event of weather disturbance, act of God, public regulation, or other emergency beyond the control of the Festival, the Artist will be reimbursed their booth fee. If the artist cancels the contract, no refund will be given The festival takes place rain or shine; there is no rain date.
