Introduction Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems are often employed to improve upon the precision in diagnosis; thereby enhancing the survival rates by providing an early detection of life threatening diseases. This domain is of considerable interest among researchers to develop algorithmic and computer based approaches for design of efficient CAD systems using medical images obtained through various imaging modalities, like X-Ray, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound (US) and many others. We therefore invite researchers to contribute chapters (elaborating original research as well as reviews) presenting novel computer based methodologies for effective design and optimization of CAD systems.
Objective & Scope This book aims to present the latest developments in the domain of bio-medical sensing and imaging along with its associated clinical applications. It focuses on key issues in terms of concepts, research, standards, implementations, running experiments and applications for diagnosis and treatment. The central idea is to present the various advancements in the said domain in terms of novel computational methods and algorithms. This interdisciplinary domain assimilates several disciplines of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, bio-medical and computer engineering to solve problems of critical importance in clinical medicine. We hope that this book will present promising ideas and outstanding research results supporting further development of computer based approaches in medical imaging for clinical applications.
