SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA FOR MALE GRADUATING SENIORS FROM HAMPTON PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS The Virginia Peninsula Education Foundation, affiliated with the Delta Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is pleased to announce its Scholarship Competition for male high school seniors, Class of 2017, who plan to attend college or pursue technical education immediately. The Foundation seeks students who have demonstrated sustained academic achievement, leadership, community involvement and good citizenship.

PURPOSE: These scholarships are awarded to encourage and assist male high school graduates of Hampton Public Schools in the continuation of their educational pursuits.

THE SCHOLARSHIPS: A

The Virginia Peninsula Education Foundation will award three scholarships to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement, including a grade point average of 3.0, or higher, upon graduating from high school.

The Virginia Peninsula Education Foundation may award one scholarship to an individual who demonstrates extraordinary potential and has a grade point average of 2.0, or higher upon graduating from high school.

ELIGIBILITY: The applicant must be a graduating high school senior and a resident of Hampton, Virginia, who has applied for admission and been accepted to a post-secondary education program.

The scholarship award will be presented based on the following criteria: 1. Male student 2. Grade Point Average 3.0 or higher (3 awards) 3. Grade Point Average 2.0 or higher (1 award) 4. Evidence of good character 5. Evidence of financial need 6. Initiative 7. Employment record 8. Organizational membership 9. Offices Held 10. Community involvement 11. Honors and Awards 12. Chapter Interview

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Applications must be completed and returned on or before April 15, 2017, to the below-listed address. Only complete applications will be considered. Application forms may be obtained from your school's Guidance Department.

SELECTION: After evaluating all applications, the Virginia Peninsula Education Foundation will conduct interviews on May 6, (11:00am) at the below-indicated address. All applicants must interview. The winning selections will be announced by May 13, 2017. Winners are expected to attend the Chapter's Scholarship & Recognition Dinner on June 11. Scholarship awardees are responsible for providing official notification of enrollment to the Director of Educational Activities at the below-indicated address, in order to receive direct disbursement of scholarship money.
