COSTA BLANCA MOUNTAIN WALKS INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING ANDROID TABLET OR PHONE TO: -Download and view my map of Costa Blanca -Download and view all my walk descriptions -Download tracks and waypoints to superimpose on map and use tablet or phone as GPS unit REQUIREMENTS -Tablet or smart phone with built in GPS and Android 2.1 or later. -Copy of Oziexplorer for Android Since my experience is with a tablet, I will refer to tablets in these notes. I would think a smart phone would react in the same manner. I use an Acer Iconia (roughly 125 Euros) 7 inch tablet. Into it I have downloaded Oxiexplorer for Android ($25 US) (Link to Oxiexplorer website can be found on main page of my website) Start with the free version – it may be all you require depending on what you will be doing with it. Next I loaded my Costa Blanca map (Ozi4MAP.oxf4 and Ozi4MAP.map – both files are necessary) This map is of the entire Alicante province. It is regularly updated (Vxx is version number) as are all the other downloaded files. Then I downloaded the GPS TRACKS folder. The GPS TRACKS folder contains tracks in Ozi compatable format of all walks described in my website. The OXI WAYPOINTS is a new folder which will contain the map references in my walk descriptions for each track. (ie, load track “Malla de Llop from Facheca” from GPS TRACKS folder and waypoint file for same walk from OZI WAYPOINTS folder and you will now see your planed walk superimposed on map in tablet.) Then I downloaded the folder called “Bob and Jean’s walks – PDF” which contains the detailed directions and map of each walk. STEPS TO FOLLOW TO DO ABOVE GETTING FOLDERS The first step is to get all the folders mentioned above into your computer. To do this: -Open a Google drive account (it’s free). Go to Google and do search on Google drive for instructions on how to do same. -Send me an E-mail with “maps” as subject. Describe what you want to do so I can decide what folders you will need. -I will E-mail you back that I have done my part and when you open your Google drive you will see an item called “shared with me”. -Move these folders (hold down left mouse button over item and drag to “my drive”.) This will download the folders to your computer (approx 500Mb.) If you leave the folders there, they will be updated every time I make changes to them. If you are not happy with that, simply move folders to elsewhere on your computer and turn Goolge drive off. - The help file in Oziexplorer should help you set the map up in your phone or tablet.
