The Gulliver Schools Board of Trustees and John Krutulis announced today that he will be assuming the new role of Director. A global search is underway to employ a new Head of Emilio Nuñez Schools for the 20132014 school year. Collectively, John and the Board agreed that the timing of this organizational change will benefit Gulliver now and in the future. John will continue to serve as both Director and Head of Schools for the remainder of the 2012-2013 school year. In 2000, Gulliver transitioned into a non-profit school and a Board of Trustees was formed to provide financial oversight and governance. This transition was contingent upon the continued partnership with Mrs. Marian C. Krutulis, the founder of Gulliver Schools, and John to provide strategic management and to run all day-to-day operations. Under this collective leadership, Gulliver has grown to more than 2,200 students on four campuses and maintained a reputation as one of the premier private independent day schools in the country. Elevating John to Director, the same title Mrs. K held for several years, and adding a new dynamic Head of Schools will ensure our mission and vision live on for generations to come. John will work closely with our new leader to ensure he/she understands what makes Gulliver so unique and so special. This move will also allow John to work very closely with the Board of Trustees on strategic planning and capital fundraising. We all share John’s passion for enhancing our facilities, growing our endowment and ensuring the sustainability of our mission. We are grateful to John and his administration team for their superb work in advancing Gulliver to where we are today. Mrs. K’s legacy lives on through our praiseworthy faculty, staff and coaches whom continue to deliver the highest quality, well-rounded education available. Gulliver students have a plethora of opportunities and support to

truly maximize their unique gifts and talents to excel in our constantly changing global society. John and his team will be providing our community with updates on the Head of Schools search and an announcement will be made once a candidate has been selected by the Board of Trustees with the invaluable input of John and his lead team. This is a very exciting time as Gulliver continues to build on its tradition of excellence. The best is yet to come! On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to thank all of you for your continued support. Respectfully,

ith an unwavering dedication to honor our traditions, as well as a commitment to plan for the continued progress of our great school, I am honored to assume the role of Director of Gulliver Schools. Next school year, Gulliver will be celebrating its 60th year under the Krutulis’ leadership, and our collective quest to strive for excellence has never been more evident. My mother, and Gulliver Schools’ founder, Marian C. Krutulis, had a vision for Gulliver, and although no one person will ever fill her shoes, together we are fulfilling her vision. The common thread that binds us together is our mission to provide a superior, personalized college preparatory education fostering well-rounded, successful, lifelong learners. Gulliver is committed to developing the unique gifts and talents of each student in a nurturing environment that promotes academic excellence, innovation, global understanding and character. Our mission statement is not simply words, but rather a living and breathing entity that can be seen, felt and observed in all that we say and do on each of our campuses and throughout our community. The Board of Trustees and my decision to expand our ad ministrative team is ingrained in Gulliver’s history. As many of you may remember, my mother was Director of Gulliver for many years, while my brother, Joe and I were Associate Director and Assistant Director respectively. When Mrs. K transitioned into the role of Director Emeritus in 2008, and I assumed the role of Head of Schools, I knew the challenges that would entail. I looked at those challenges as opportunities and with the support of our incredible faculty, staff, students, current and previous parents, alumni and our community, we have been able to accomplish great things. We would not be where we are today without the work of many for which I am grateful. I am indebted to our exemplary Board of Trustees for their unwavering support, responsible fiscal governance and most of all for truly living and breathing our mission each day. Over the

last four years serving as the Head of Schools, we together have made Mrs. K proud and strongly advanced the sustainability of Gulliver. This restruc turing will strengthen our position now and for generations to come.

John Krutulis

For the remainder of the 2012-2013 school year, I will serve as both Director and Head of Schools. A top-level firm has been contracted to conduct a world-wide Head of Schools search for an exceptional, well-rounded individual with a global educational vision, high academic credentials and standards, and a strong business and financial background. We will provide updates on the search process and I plan to work very closely with this person to ensure our traditions, values, and culture are protected and secure. Once we have our new Head of Schools settled in, I plan to focus the bulk of my time and energy advancing our opportunities through strategic planning and fundraising. As we enter into our 60th year together, we have new challenges that must be embraced as magnificent opportunities. We have had wonderful success thus far in advancing and building our philanthropic culture but we have a lot of work left to do. I am confident that the Gulliver community will rise to the occasion and together we will fulfill our vision of a master plan that expands our facilities to match the excellence of our personalized educational programming and to grow our endowment to ensure the sustainability of our mission. Thank you again for your continued support and please know that Gulliver’s future has never been so bright! Warmest Regards,
