Skarfjell Oil Discovery – April 2012
Skarfjell-1 found high quality upper Jurassic reservoir sandstones containing light oil over a 168m gross interval (net pay 53m).
No fluid contact was observed – a down dip appraisal well is required to establish the field oil column height (planned for 2013).
Due to rig schedule commitments the well was not tested but extensive data acquisition and sampling was carried out.
Estimated preliminary resource of 60 - 160 mmbbls recoverable oil.
The discovery is likely to be commercial, and a new 3D seismic acquisition over the discovery already underway.
The discovery well is located 17km south west of the Gjøa Field.

Possibilities for Local Goods and Services
Exploration phase usually seasonal (summer)
Seismic- and drilling vessels largely selfcontained
Oil Industry requires specialist contractors, goods and services
Rigid specifications: technical requirements, quality, safety and environmental protection Commercially viable
During exploration phase, no guarantee of a future market
Better possibilities for local goods and services in case of development / production Promoting participation within the framework of our HSEQ requirements
