Audio  vs  Text  manual.  Version  0.5.     Adding  audio  and  text  files   You  can  add  audio  (mp3)  and  text  (txt)  files  into  the  app.    The  files   could  be  placed  into  File  Sharing  folder  of  the  app  using  iTunes  or   copied  directly  from  the  internet.  There  is  also  an  option  to  put  your   files  into  Dropbox  folder  and  then  copy  to  the  app  (see  Settings).    

 

  There  are  2  ways  of  creating  a  new  document.     1  –  when  you  have  a  direct  link  to  the  mp3  file  and  are  able  to   copy/paste  the  corresponding  text  from  a  web  page.     2  –  when  you  put  your  files  into  File  Sharing  folder  using  iTunes.  

 

 

  Select  a  text  file  corresponding  to  your  mp3  if  you  have  it.  If  you  plan   to  type  the  transcript  manually  skip  next  2  steps  (tap  Next).  

 

 

  A  new  document  will  be  created.      

 

Editing  a  document   Switch  to  Edit  mode  to  go  to  transcribe  mode.    

  The  following    panel  will  be  opened.  

 

  You  can  see  here  a  waveform  and  a  text  field  for  your  main  text.   Tap  a  waveform  to  jump  to  the  specific  audio  position.  Tap  #4   button  to  start  playing  or  to  pause.  Double  tap  the  text  field  to   start  typing  your  text.  Tap  “Save  Text”  to  finish  editing.    

    Tap  #4  button  to  start/pause  playing.     When  you  have  your  text  ready  you  can  link  audio  and  text   fragments.  You  have  to  select  an  audio  fragment.  Tap  a   waveform  and  then  tap  #3  button.  The  selection  will  be   inserted.  Drag  the  borders  of  the  selection  to  adjust  it.  Zoom   the  waveform  using  the  pinch  gesture.    

    Then  select  a  text  fragment  and  tap  #5  button  to  finish  linking.      

  Now  when  you  tap  a  text  fragment  or  audio  fragment  the  app   will  scroll  the  audio  or  text  to  the  proper  position.      

  When  you  link  many  phrases  phrase  by  phrase  you  can  activate   #2  button.  In  this  mode  when  you  tap  the  pause  button  the   selection  will  be  attached  to  the  previous  selection.    

  All  you  need  is  to  select  the  next  phrase  by  swiping  above  the   phrase.  The  phrase  will  be  selected  automatically.  Then  finish   linking  by  tapping  #5  button.    

  So  the  sequence  is  the  following:   -­‐ select  the  first  audio  fragment  (tap  #4)  and  the  text   fragment   -­‐ link  them  (tap  #5)   -­‐ activate  #2   -­‐ run  playing  (#4)   -­‐ pause  playing  (#4)  –  the  audio  selection  will  be  attached  to   the  previous  one  (if  you  have  stopped  at  the  wrong  position   adjust  the  selection  by  dragging  the  right  border  or  place   the  red  cursor  at  the  proper  position  and  tap  #3)   -­‐ swipe  above  the  phrase  –  select  the  next  phrase   -­‐ link  (tap  #5)     To  remove  a  fragment  markup  long  tap  an  audio  fragment  or  select   “Clear”  when  the  text  is  selected.  There  is  also  “Remove  all  markup”   command  in  the  Properties  of  the  document.    

You  can  also  link  the  second  text  fragment  to  the  pair  audio  fragment   +  primary  text  fragment.  It  could  be  useful  to  attach  a  translation  or  a   comment  for  the  first  phrase.  Tap  #1  button  to  open/close  secondary   text  editor.      

  Make  sure  you  have  selected  the  audio  fragment.  Then  tap  #1   and  select  the  primary  text  fragment  and  the  second  text   fragment.  Finish  linking  by  tapping  #5.  Then  close  the  second   text  editor  if  you  use  iPhone  version  and  select  the  next  audio   fragment.    

 

 

Export   There  are  two  export  options  in  the  Properties  of  the  document.  You   can  send  your  primary  text  or  subtitles  (srt)  file  where  your  primary   and  secondary  texts  are  connected  by  time.    

Listening  mode   After  finishing  markup  you  can  close  the  editor  and  go  to  the   listening  mode.  

  When  you  tap  any  sentence  the  app  will  play  corresponding   audio  fragment  and  show  the  secondary  text  if  it  presents.
