August 18, 2016 Dear Parents, I hope that you are having a great summer and were able to disconnect a bit throughout July and August. I spent most of my vacation time relaxing with a few great books, a little bit of travel, and fun times with my two children. Time flies! I’m doing my best to make every day count. Below lists some basic information to assist you as you prepare for the upcoming school year: ● Our first day of school for students is on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Students have an early dismissal and will be dismissed at 12:45 PM (Bingham) and 12:50 PM (Downing). Each student should bring a healthy snack on all early dismissal days. Regular dismissal time at 3:00 PM will begin on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. ● On the first TWO days of school, the teachers will greet the students outside. Beginning on 9/8, the students will enter the building on their own. We will have plenty of staff members available to make sure they safely arrive to their classrooms. ● I hope that your child completed his/her summer reading activity. Please bring the completed activity and the book within the first few days of school. ● Our website, www.runnemedeschools.org, has information that will guide you through the school year. Check it out for supply lists, summer reading challenge, lunch program, before/after care, and daily school events. A school calendar has also been attached for you. It can be the first item magnetized to the refrigerator for the new year! ● Student supervision is a top priority; therefore students should arrive to school no earlier than 8:15 AM. If your child arrives after 8:40 AM, he/she is considered tardy. Please try your best to drop off between 8:15-8:30 AM. ● Back-to-School Nights are as follows (6:30-8:00 PM): Downing- 9/13/16, Bingham- 9/15/16 Within the first few days of school, your child will bring home essential information about his/her teacher’s expectations/procedures, the instructional day, and other information that should be reviewed immediately. Ongoing teacherparent communication is very important. We want it to be your best year ever! If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, feel free to contact the main office at anytime. My secretaries will steer you in the right direction. Don’t forget to “like us” on Facebook and stay current with the exciting moments that occur regularly throughout the school year.
Sincerely, Jade A. Yezzi Principal
