MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR GRANT WELLS

Last month, we sadly told you of the passing of our MEC IT Coordinator, Grant Wells. Grant began his employment with the FPA in June of 2000 and became an ALPA employee two years later after the merger. He was loved and respected by his coworkers and he was very close to his family. We will be holding a memorial service for Grant on Friday, May 26 at 10 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church (1738 Galloway Ave., Memphis 38112). There will be a brief reception following the service. The MEC office will be closed on Friday, May 26th to allow our staff to attend and we invite you to join us as we celebrate Grant's life. Please note that dress is business casual. Please continue to keep Grant's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

A MESSAGE FROM SULLY SULLENBERGER

Hi Fellow Pilots!   We are in full swing getting ready for the 2017 Pilot Car Build at the FedEx St. Jude Golf Classic to benefit the kids and their families at St. Jude. A group of dedicated pilots have completed the prebuild of the replica ’65 MK4 Roadster and we are ready to go!

As many of you know, this time around, we have a VERY lofty goal. As FedEx Pilots, we are going to raise enough money to fund St. Jude Children’s Research Center’s operating costs for ONE FULL DAY. Yes, it’s a lofty goal but I believe in my heart of hearts that we pilots, as a group, can really step up and make a difference. This is our chance to show our humanity and come through for these kids. This year, Captain Sully Sullenberger, has graciously joined our effort by making videos of encouragement for us and our family and friends to come on board. Click on the link below to hear his message and then share the link with your friends and family. Encourage them to make this a success for FedEx Pilots and, ultimately, the kids at St. Jude. Watch Capt. Sullenberger now and thanks so much for being instrumental in helping the kids. Together, as FedEx Pilots, we can really make a difference. www.stjude.org/carbuild To be directed to the donation website, please click here. The FedEx St. Jude Classic is only a few weeks away—make your donation today! Captain Bob McKee Share Now:

FROM THE SAFETY COMMITTEE - BOS RUNWAY 4R CLOSURE

On May 15, 2017, Boston’s Logan International Airport closed runway 4R/22L for resurfacing and replacement of the approach lighting system. The runway is expected to reopen on June 24, 2017. After June 24th, the airport expects to open the runway intermittently until the approach lighting system project is completed in September 2017. During the closure, BOS Air Traffic Control (ATC) will be utilizing two RNAV approaches to runway 4L (RNAV (GPS) 4L and RNAV (GPS) 4R with Sidestep Landing RWY 4L). During periods of low ceilings and reduced visibility, flight crews flying the RNAV (GPS) 4R, Sidestep RWY 4L may not be able to visually acquire RWY 4L.We have been told that ATC will issue the RNAV (GPS) RWY 4L straight in approach when weather is below 1500’/5SM, and further, that BOS ATC will use other runway configurations when possible. Recommendations: • Flight crews are encouraged to remain vigilant while operating to Runway 4L during the 4R closure • As RWY 4L has no approach lighting system, flight crews should ensure they are not lined up on a parallel taxiway • Review all charts, procedures, and NOTAMs thoroughly • Follow company guidance and Standard Operating Procedures • Submit ASAP reports with any safety issues encountered while operating to 4L. As ALPA verifies and gathers additional information, an Operations Bulletin will be published.

RETIREMENT EDUCATION AND RESEARCH

Retirement was a primary issue where much attention was focused during our last collective bargaining agreement (CBA). While enhancements were made to Section 28, we know many hoped for more improvements that were not achieved in the latest agreement. Over the course of the last year, your elected representatives, MEC Officers, Negotiating Committee and R&I Committee have been involved in an effort to research our retirement plan as it currently exists, and explore possibilities that could enhance it. As this process continues to evolve, we’ve created this website as a central location to provide you with important information—from key players involved to previously released R&I educational videos and Chairman’s Messages. The research process is underway. However, as you can imagine, this is an extensive project and will take our team of consultants significant time to develop concepts for consideration. It’s not until we reach that point that your elected representatives will determine if the outcome is worthy of further consideration. As previously noted in various communications, there is NO bargaining on retirement taking place with the company nor will there be without your inclusion. Please take some time to peruse the website. We encourage you to bookmark it as a favorite as the information here will continue to be updated as we move forward.

WHAT IS THE IPAD TECH SUPPORT CONTACT INFO?

We're partnering with FedEx Flight Ops iPad Support to bring you information you can use. Please continue to read the Positive Rate for more articles similar to the one found below. We would like to thank Captain Al Brucker for providing us with this information. What is the iPad Tech Support Contact Info? The best feedback channel is through the Insite Ticket system. This allows you the most visibility on the progress your submission is making. Alternatively, you can reach us by email at [email protected]. For 24/7/365 phone support: Phone Number in the United States:            (800) 238-7527 option 9 Phone Number International:                        (901) 224-5100 option 9 Website: https://pilot.fedex.com/fdcms/support/ iPad Support is here to help. There are two tiers of iPad support provided for your use.

Tier One. Telephone Support is available 24/7/365 from Denali which is a company that provides third-party iPad phone support to FedEx employees (see phone numbers posted at the top of this page.) They can immediately help with many iPad problems and company-required application issues. When you encounter an iPad issue that you cannot resolve on your own, a call to Denali iPad Support should be your first action. If they cannot fully resolve your problem, they will escalate your issue in writing to FedEx FDCMS iPad Support. Tier Two. FedEx FDCMS iPad Support is staffed by FedEx employees and is located in AOC just outside the Chief Pilot offices. FDCMS constitutes your second-tier of iPad support. If Denali was not able to fully resolve your problem, your issue will be escalated in writing to FedEx FDCMS iPad Support. You can expect an email within one or two business days directly from the FDCMS staff which includes FedEx Express pilots who are very familiar with iPad functionality and how the iPad integrates into flying operations. Only FedEx FDCMS can authorize and issue an iPad replacement. Denali may realize your iPad will need to be replaced (as in cases with a broken screen or when an iPad is lost or stolen) and they may also request initial information from you (as in a delivery address and requested delivery date), but no delivery will be set up until you are first notified in writing by FDCMS. Please watch your email and expect to verify delivery information with FDCMS. In matters which press for time, FDCMS may elect to give you a telephone call. Please include an employee number and a preferred phone number with all your correspondence. In situations where only a personal visit will do, please feel free to stop by our offices during normal business hours. All of us here in iPad Support wish you a productive and enjoyable iPad experience. We are here to help you achieve that.
