What’s a GUP to Bangladesh?
Pop’n: 142.3 million (8th) Dhaka: 15 million Density: 23000/km2 Income per capita: $641 Religion: 89% Islam, 0.3% Christian
Navigating Dhaka’s crowded sidewalks—bursting with colour and smells from the fruit market—and bartering in Bengali with a rickshaw driver becomes routine as GUP participants venture out from Grace House and go to placements. Grace House is a guest house owned and operated by our IFES partners – Bible Students Fellowship of Bangladesh (BSFB). Entering our fifth year ministering alongside BSFB, we will continue to strengthen the movement by equipping staff and student leaders to lead inductive Bible studies at conferences and small groups at universities across the country. Under watchful eyes of the locals, Canadian students will be image bearers of Christ in all situations. At placements, our team will have the opportunity to demonstrate love to the orphaned and forgotten, receive hospitality in the slums, and creatively witness about Jesus. These experiences in Bangladesh raise important questions about poverty, ethnic identity, gender, and injustice. Rooted in scripture, we aim to learn from and serve with our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh. APPLY ONLINE:
