SEEK CLARIFICATION FROM YOUR INSTITUTION IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ANY PART OF THIS DOCUMENT OR THE GENERAL TERMS. 1. What is Bank Islam Visa Debit Card-i (BIDC-i)? BIDC-i is a payment instrument which allows Cardmember to make payment for the cost for goods and services purchased at participating retail and service outlets via card which will be deducted directly from your deposit account. The Debit Card also allows Cardmember to withdraw cash at the ATM. In order to own a BIDC-i, you are required to maintain a deposit account with Bank Islam, to be linked to your BIDC-i, and place sufficient funds in the deposit account before making payments. If you close your deposit accounts, your BIDC-i will automatically be cancelled. 2. What is the Shariah concept applicable? Ujrah concept i.e. a payment paid one party for a service(s) rendered by another party. Ujrah applies when fee is imposed by Bank Islam when the BIDC-i is issued to Cardmember and Bank Islam from time to time facilitates the payment for purchase of goods, services and/or cash withdrawal by the Cardmember. 3. What are the features of BIDC-i? a. Accepted by more than 29 million VISA merchants worldwide. b. Cash withdrawal access via Bank Islam ATMs, MEPS ATMs and at more than 1.4 million VISAPLUS ATMs. c. Cash rebate on retail transaction. d. Direct debit convenience from your saving/current account (CASA). e. Annual fee exception if retail transactions exceed RM500. f. Safety features with “Smart Chip Security”. g. Flexibility in limiting the usage limit. h. Convenience in execution of Tabung Haji Accounts’ transactions. 4. 6. What is my obligation/how do I protect my BIDC-i? a. The Cardmember shall sign at the back of the BIDC-i immediately upon receipt of BIDC-i. b. Protect your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Do not write your PIN on the BIDC-i or keep it together with BIDC-i. c. The Cardmember shall exercise reasonable precaution to prevent loss and theft of BIDC-i or disclosure of the Personal Identification Number (PIN) to any unauthorised person. d. Any loss and theft of BIDC-i or disclosure of the PIN to an unauthorised person and unauthorised use of the Card must immediately be reported to the Bank by contacting the Bank Islam Contact Centre at 03-26 900 900. e. The Cardmember shall not allow or empower any third party to use the BIDC-i and cannot transfer or relinquish control or ownership of BIDC-i or use it for purposes which is not permitted by the Bank. f. The Cardmember is responsible for ensuring sufficient funds in the account before effecting the transaction. g. Check your account statement from time to time to ensure transactions performed are correct. 7. What if I fail to fulfill my obligations? a. Loss and theft of BIDC-i and disclosure of PIN to an unauthorised person may lead to an unauthorised used of BIDC-i and monetary loss to Cardmember. b. Insufficient funds in account may lead to inability of Cardmember to affect a transaction, make payment or perform cash withdrawal using BIDC-i. c. Delaying in reporting to the Bank on loss and theft of BIDC-i or disclosure of PIN to an unauthorised person may also lead unauthorised used of BIDC-i and monetary loss to Cardmember. 8. Other similar types of BIDC-i? a. University Debit Card-i (UniDebit).

Retail/Internet purchase RM2,000 or 20 times transaction per day Notes: The limit can be increased/decreased upon request from Cardmember.
9. What is UniDebit? UniDebit is a Co-Brand Debit Card-i issued in collaboration of Bank Islam and related University. UniDebit is a combo card which contains two separate chips i.e. Debit Card and University card chip in one card. UniDebit specifically meant for an entity such as University or Colleges which agreed to collaborate with Bank Islam. As an additional to the basic functions of BIDC-i, the UniDebit allows University staff or student to use additional applications developed by the University. For example, the Cardmember can use UniDebit for access to University’s facility such as library access, attendance or door control access and also other applications, which will be developed by University from time to time. 10. Which University applicable for UniDebit? a. Only related University which agreed for collaboration with Bank Islam is entitled for UniDebit. 11. Who is entitled for UniDebit? a. Registered University staff and student. 12. What if I am a related University staff/student and I already have the basic BIDC-i? a. The related University staff/student can request for a replacement of BIDC-i to UniDebit upon confirmation his/her registration with the related University. 13. What are the major risks for UniDebit? a. Loss and theft of UniDebit or disclosure PIN which can lead to unauthorised usage. 14. What is my obligation/how do I protect my UniDebit? a. Refer to 7 items/points under Question 6 above - also applicable to UniDebit. b. AVOID lending/sharing your UniDebit to other staff/student for whatever reasons. 15.
