Meadow Brook Elementary School Home of the Mustangs! Dear Meadow Brook Parents,
July 20, 2016
Welcome to our opening year at Meadow Brook Elementary! I really am excited for this new school adventure to begin and to get to know everyone. I hope you have all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. Some important information and dates for you to know. Registration for all Meadow Brook students, Kindergarten through 6th grade, will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the school from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. If you are not planning on attending Meadow Brook Elementary this year, please contact us before registration (801-489-2897) or email our new secretary at
[email protected]. If you have new neighbors, please tell them about registration on August 2. You can speed up the registration process by filling out the free and reduced lunch application online. This is very important as we have a chance to get additional funding for our school based on our free and reduced lunch count. The whole application process takes from 5-10 minutes. Start here: https://paypams.com/OnlineApp.aspx. Thank you!! When you come to registration please make sure that you have your emergency, medical, dental, and employment numbers. We also need you to bring documents that show that you live in Meadow Brook boundaries (mortgage/rental agreement, recent gas bill, driver’s license, check, etc.) or have been accepted through early open enrollment (please bring acceptance letter). Having this information will help you speed up the process. 1. Except for kindergarten, information will be available for your child to find out their teacher (possibly not 6th as we may get another teacher). Many hours have been spent in placing students in classes and Cherry Creek teachers and principals have been involved throughout. It becomes difficult to create balanced classes with the varied personalities and abilities of the many students. Last minute changes are very difficult in maintaining classroom balance. I don’t perceive changes being made. 2. We are asking for a one time twenty dollar donation for each child in school for field trips, technology (Ipads, Chromebooks, software) and supplies. We thank you for your financial support of Meadow Brook Elementary. 3. We know we had kindergarten enrollment in March but we are asking that if you have a child starting kindergarten this year please bring them with you to registration as we will conduct a brief assessment with them to best place them with a teacher. We need all kindergarten students to come to registration on August 2. 4. At registration, the PTA will be here to encourage membership, room mother signups, and to order school T-shirts. 5. Meadow Brook’s “Open House” will take place on Monday, August 22. This allows students to come and meet their teacher and to help reduce any anxiety. Specific times will be coming shortly. 6. School begins Tuesday, August 23rd for 1st through 6th grades. Kindergarten starts on August 30th. 7. Please “like” our Facebook page as we update this regularly and share important information. https://www.facebook.com/MBelementary/
KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION: If you already enrolled your child for kindergarten back in March we ask that you still come and bring your child with you on August 2 so we can do a brief assessment with your child. You will also be able to join the PTA and pick up any other information that was not available back in March. 1.
For kindergarten students who have not registered yet, you will need to bring a birth certificate, proof of residence in Meadow Brook boundaries, and an updated copy of your child’s immunization record. Utah State Law requires kindergarten students to be current on all immunizations or they will not be allowed to start school. Please be sure to get your child’s immunizations up to date before Kindergarten starts. 2. Kindergarten will be involved in testing the first week of school (Aug. 23-29). Kindergarten teachers will be contacting you to schedule assessment times for your child. We hope this will give you a simple overview of what to plan for on registration day as well as give you some important dates that are coming up. I am truly excited to be at Meadow Brook and hopefully creating a culture of excellence. We have a strong group of teachers who have joined us at Meadow Brook. I feel very lucky to have such a solid group of teachers and can’t wait for you to meet them. Sincerely, Ryan Pitcher Meadow Brook Elementary Principal
