A BSTRACT. - This article anal yzes a corpus of basalt vesse ls of four distinct lypes. showing the m to be ubiqu itou s at sites of t he EB I horizon in Israe l a nd Jordan . The suggestio n is made that these vessels are di agnostic of this period and thaI the ind ustry which produced them see ms to have been localized to a few cente rs. A further d iscussion suggests their connection to stone worki ng traditions of the Cha!co1ithic period.
