Dear Friend,
Beach Street, 23 Fernando de Noronha Pernambuco - Brazil September 23, 2011
It feels like such a long time since the last time I saw you. I miss you so much. So far my trip has been great! I spend my all my weekends at the beach. What about you? I am getting a nice tan and you can no longer say I am paler than you. I have been playing lots of volleyball, surfing, soccer and building a nice collection of sea shells. My mom says I will not go back to our city. And you, do you like the beach? However I’m studying and working here. Are you working too? I drive an ice cream truck around and sell ice cream to the kids. It is so cool. It is a combination of the two things I love most, ice cream and kids. The pay isn't too great but I love the job so much. I hope your days have been going well for you too. I am only a month and a half here. The most important thing is: I think I’m loving my classmate, but this is our secret. Your friend, Valéria Niorquis Hir 1. Produza uma carta e responda às perguntas da fictícia Valéria N. Hir. You with the sad eyes Don't be discouraged Oh I realize It's hard to take courage In a world full of people You can lose sight of it all And the darkness inside you Can make you feel so small
Você, com olhos tristes Não fique desanimada Oh, eu sei É difícil criar coragem Num mundo cheio de pessoas Você pode perder tudo de vista E a escuridão dentro de você Pode te fazer sentir tão insignificante
But I see your true colors Shining through I see your true colors And that's why I love you So don't be afraid to let them show Your true colors True colors are beautiful Like a rainbow
Mas eu vejo suas cores reais Brilhando por dentro Eu verei suas cores reais E é por isso que eu te amo Então não tenha medo de deixá-las aparecerem Suas cores reais Cores reais são lindas Como um arco-íris
Show me a smile then Don't be unhappy, can't remember When I last saw you laughing If this world makes you crazy And you've taken all you can bear You call me up Because you know I'll be there
Mostre-me um sorriso então Não fique infeliz, não me lembro A última vez que vi você sorrindo Se este mundo te deixa louca E você deu tudo o que você pode suportar Me chame Porque você sabe que eu estarei lá

More Than Words Extreme Saying I love you Is not the words I want to hear from you It's not that I want you Not to say, but if you only knew How easy it would be to show me how you feel More than words is all you have to do to make it real Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me Cause I'd already know What would you do if my heart was torn in two? More than words to show you feel That your love for me is real What would you say if I took those words away? Then you couldn't make things new Just by saying I love you La di da, la di da More than words La di da, la di da Now that I've tried to talk to you and make you understand All you have to do is close your eyes and just reach out your hands And touch me, hold me close, don't ever let me go More than words is all I ever needed you to show Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me Cause I'd already know What would you do if my heart was torn in two? More than words to show you feel That your love for me is real What would you say if I took those words away? Then you couldn't make things new Just by saying I love you

Brain Rays For years cancer patients have had recourse to a noninvasive surgical technique in which doctors zap tumors with focused beams of radiation. The technology was first used on brain-cancer patients because doctors can easily clamp the head in place, keeping the tumor rock steady. More recently the machines have gotten better at compensating for the patient's movement – from breathing, say – allowing doctors to treat tumors elsewhere in the body. Now doctors at Korea's St. Mary's Hospital are using a device called CyberKnife, made by Accuray in Sunnyvale, California, to treat patients with severe depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Other doctors think the technique could be useful to treat Parkinson's and epilepsy patients. Since the radiation creates permanent lesions in the brain, the method is controversial and may take years to win acceptance. ELLISON, Jesse. Brain Rays. Newsweek. New York, v. 149, n. 16/17, April 16-23, 2007. p. 10.

The Little Girl and the Wolf
One afternoon a big wolf waited in a dark forest for a little girl to come along carrying a basket of food to her grandmother. Finally a little girl did come along and she was carrying a basket of food. “Are you carrying the basket to your grandmother?” Asked the wolf. The girl said yes, she was. So the wolf asked her where her grandmother lived and the little girl told him and he disappeared into the woods. When the little girl opened the door of her grandmother’s house she saw that there was somebody in bed with a nightcap and nightgown on. She approached not nearer than 25 feet from the bed when saw that it was not her grandmother but the wolf. So she took an automatic out of her basket and shot him dead.
