offered by the HIV Prevention Group in Bela Bela, Limpopo BACKGROUND OBJECTIVES: To report on two years of antiretroviral therapy (ART) roll out among children by the HIV Prevention Group (HAPG) at Bela Bela. Achievements and challenges encountered are reported. Analysis is hereby done of organizational issues including psychological preparation prior to ART and the outcomes of the ART roll-out among children. Setting: Primary Health Care level in Bela Bela, Limpopo Province. The ART roll out started in August 2004 in the public sector in South Africa. Several thousands of adult patients are benefiting from ART. The proportion of children on ART is too small compared to adults. A lot needs to be done to increase number of children receiving ART.
