Beano Lab Question Does Beano change polysaccharides in beans to glucose at _________degrees Celsius? Hypothesis Materials –

Beano solution (10 drops) Refried beans solution (5ml) Graduated cylinder Pipettes Test tubes (2) Test tube racks and holders Four temperature baths 1 of the following: (ice, room, warm, hot) Thermometers Stop Watch (or clock with a second hand) Sugar detection strips

Procedure (Write logical steps to test your hypothesis. Include replicate testing, steps to avoid contamination, and data recording) - Controlled Variables - Manipulated Variable - Responding Variable - Experimental Control Notes: Test for sugar at the beginning and every 10 minutes for 30 minutes Don’t forget Safety and validity!! The above procedure needs to be complete as a pre-lab before you begin the experiment!! Data – - Make data table. - Graph with a line graph. - Place time on the x-axis and amount of glucose on the y-axis. - Summarize your findings Conclusion – The conclusion must include - Answer to the question (give evidence) - Response to your hypothesis (give evidence) - Explanation of the data using concepts discussed in class. - Problems you encountered and how they might be avoided the next time.
