The research group Bioinformatics and Information Technology is engaged ... implementation of integrated biological info
Conserving – Exploring - Exploiting The IPK is one of the world’s leading international institutions in the field of plant genetics and crop science. Its research programme and services contribute materially to conserving, exploring and exploiting crop diversity. Its research goals are driven by the need to ensure an efficient and sustainable supply of food, energy and raw materials, thereby addressing a major global ecological challenge.
Bioinformatician (f/m) The research group Bioinformatics and Information Technology is engaged in the management of research data, in the implementation of integrated biological information systems/data warehouses for performing in silico analyses and presenting sequencing data. We are contributing to genotyping and re-sequencing projects of different plant genetic resources hosted in the IPK-Genebank. Your tasks:
Your qualifications and skills:
You manage analyzed data sets from the research project BeanAdapt Phaselous vulgaris and Phaselous coccineus using Oracle® data base technology. You will work together with colleagues who handle similar data sets from other species. You will contribute to the development of web-based information system to make this diversity accessible and implement powerful user friendly visualization routines.
You fit to us:
You are highly interested to work at the inferface of genomics and informatics. You possess a Master/Diploma in (bio-) informatics or equivalent academic degree. You must have a strong background in data base technology and a robust understanding of developing web-based user interfaces. You have experience with UNIX/Linux command line program execution, R, Java, JavaScript programming and RESTful web services.
We offer you:
If you are fascinated by plant biology and you want to work in a modern research centre with state of the art facilities and scientists from all over the world. You have proven excellent writing and presentation skills. You are a team player.
