A transcript of Darwin’s personal diary, not to be confused with the ‘Voyage of the Beagle’, which is a more formal (and non-chronological) account of his travels which he wrote on his return. HMS Beagle: Survey ship extraordinary by Karl Heinz Marquardt (1999) Conway Maritime Press Ltd. (Hardback) ISBN: 978 0851777030. A book of plans of !e Beagle, recreated from the scant evidence available. Note that this book is very difficult to obtain. !is thing of darkness by Harry 2ompson (2006, New edition) Headline Review (Paperback) ISBN: 978 0755302819. !is highly-acclaimed novel is an account of the second voyage of !e Beagle, which focuses on the interaction between Charles Darwin and Captain Robert FitzRoy. Although meticulously researched and largely accurate, the author mischievously puts words from one of Tony Blair’s speeches into the mouth of a South American dictator.
