BP 5050 MatriculationStudent Success and Support Program Revision existing BP 5050 References: Education Code 78210-78218 and Title 5 Section 51024

Education Code Sections 78210 et seq.; Title 5 Sections 55500 et. seq. The District shall provide Student Success and Support Program services to students for the purpose of furthering equality of educational opportunity and academic success. The purpose of Student Success and Support Program services is to bring the student and the District into agreement regarding the student’s educational goal through the District’s established programs, policies, and requirements. The Chancellor shall establish procedures to assure implementation of Student Success and Support Program services that comply with the Title 5 regulations. All students entering Coast Community College District colleges are expected to participate fully in matriculation services. Students will be exempted from assessment, orientation, and counseling on the basis of the following criteria. No student, however, is exempt from meeting course skill level requirements and prerequisites. 1.

Students who have earned an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Students who are enrolling in six or fewer units and who are not pursuing a degree or a certificate. Upon completion of 12 or more units, however, these students are expected to participate in matriculation services.

3.

Students who, in the opinion of the dean of student services or designee, would not directly benefit from participating in orientation, assessment, and counseling.
