Major outdoor folk facility with more than 20 buildings dating from the 19th century, giving visitors a glimpse of the lifestyles and culture of Louisiana. Home to extensive collections of tools household utensils, furniture, vehicles and farming implements. Windrush Gardens features 25 acres of semiformal gardens designed by renowned landscape artist Steele Burden. Open daily 8:30am-5pm.
The museum is designed with eight galleries. The museum starts from the central axis, with four galleries on opposite sides framing the center. Four galleries are dedicated to African American art with a masters gallery, Louisiana gallery and a gallery containing the works of Southern’s Visual Arts Faculty.
