NeW CoNSTrUCTIoN SerVICeS As the established leader in yacht brokerage sales, it’s only logical that many new yacht buyers turn to Merle Wood & Associates to coordinate and supervise construction of their purchase. Due to our specialized knowledge and experience, these clients rely on us to manage all facets of the construction process, from concept and design through the completion and delivery of a new yacht that exceeds all expectations. Client demand for these services has grown to the point where we now devote an entire section of our SuperYacht Division to managing new yacht construction. In fact, we’ve been involved in many of the world’s most noteworthy new yacht builds and have supervised the construction (including yachts now in process) of more than 60 yachts from 100 feet to more than 500 feet in length. For that reason, we are widely recognized as the undisputed leader in megayacht construction management. Here are just a few reasons why you should choose Merle Wood & Associates to manage your new yacht construction project:
6
P RI VAT E YAC H T VAC AT I ONS
•
We have the experience and knowledge that comes from successfully completing more than $4 billion in new construction projects worldwide.
•
We have established relationships with shipbuilders in countries such as Holland, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Poland, Japan and, of course, the U.S. In fact, Merle Wood & Associates typically supervises construction of an average of four new yachts over 100 feet per year.
•
Due to our expertise and new build successes, shipyards worldwide rely on us for much of their future business and give our clients maximum attention and respect. And, given the volume of projects we have completed or have underway, we are able to negotiate the very best terms and pricing for our clients, unlike someone negotiating a “one time” transaction.
•
We manage the learning curve. Building a new yacht can be a complex and costly event for someone unfamiliar with the process. We understand all facets of yacht construction and are able to deliver our clients the yacht of their dreams; a yacht that also will generate the best possible resale in the future.
•
After more than 20 years of successfully managing new construction projects, it’s not surprising that we consistently receive accolades from both our clients and yachting industry professionals. It’s one more reason why Merle Wood & Associates is recognized as the leader in new yacht construction management.

WELCOME On a recent beautiful weekend, I went to one of my favorite spots on Miami Beach, the outdoor patio at Smith & Wollensky. Nearby South Pointe Park unfurling along the exit channel of the port of Miami makes this an ideal spot for boat and people watching. On late Sunday afternoons in winter, big cruise ships slip by as the sun melts into a pool of pink. These floating cities are awe-inspiring and always bring a crowd. I enjoy watching them too, and the water rising to the sea wall as they pass (very perceptive that Archimedes for identifying the nifty displacement trick). But as I try to make out the faces of the people assembled way up there on the sun deck, I never fail to remark how lucky I am to go to sea on smaller craft. These happy vacationers will enjoy great buffets, themed parties, live entertainment, fun in the sun and shore-side excursions. But they won’t be alone on a secluded white beach, sharing territory only with the native creatures that inhabit it. And they’ll be hard-pressed to find a quiet spot on the bow to daydream, their hair whipping in the wind. Not that these contemplative activities are all that a private yacht vacation offers. If you like, you can arrange for an entire carnival, Polynesian luau or a 1960s-themed evening. Great buffets, why not? But aboard a yacht you can also find dining on par with gourmet restaurants ashore (award-winning Chef Tony Orlando of the yacht Audacia recently wowed his guests with an appetizer of “foie gras crème brûlée” with morels); enjoy a barbecue on the beach with an open fire pit and white linen, or anything else your heart desires. Shore excursions take on a new meaning, when you can zip around in your own boat and anchor near shore in a shallow secluded cove. Leaving the first footprint on the sand can make you feel like you’ve just discovered a new land. If you prefer, you can also do some shopping, climb a volcano, go deep-sea fishing or diving. Or do nothing at all. That’s just it. A private yacht vacation gives you the ultimate luxury, an à la carte vacation, created just for you. Writer Kim Kavin summed it up in “Dream Cruises:The Insider’s Guide to Private Yacht Vacations.” She brings us highlights of favorite destinations from the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. But remember, you can go nearly everywhere you want to go. The yachtbuilding boom of the past decade has contributed to the amazing diversity of boats and yachts now available for charter (from 40’ cats to superyachts). Many of their owners see the value of making them available to charter guests M ARC PARIS
when they are not able to spend time aboard themselves. Nearly as diverse as they are, are the destinations they explore, from Scandinavia to Antarctica, and Martinique to Chesapeake. So think about a private yacht vacation the next time you hear the big ships blow their horn and watch their cheerful passengers get smaller as they steam past.

ENGAGING ANTIGUA Antigua is a hub of yachting activity in the Leeward Islands. Megayachts and sailing yachts alike spend their winters at English Harbour, Falmouth Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard, which are home to a trio of marinas that are completely isolated from the bustle of cruise ship tourism. Nelson’s Dockyard, named for Royal Navy hero Horatio Nelson after it was established in the 1700s as a British outpost, is a fascinating destination in and of itself. Yacht charter itineraries can begin with a tour of the original stone buildings that once housed Nelson and his troops, but that today serve as charming shops, restaurants and hotels like The Admiral’s Inn. You can meander along walkways that have enticed sailors for centuries before stepping onto your private yacht and setting sail with every modern comfort. If a racing charter interests you, then the time to visit is late spring, when the island hosts Antigua Sailing Week. It is one of the largest regattas in the world, as well as an annual celebration of yachting in the Caribbean, with opportunities to charter as either a competitor or a spectator. Turn winches and hoist sails in your charter yacht’s class, or sip champagne while at anchor just beyond the race buoys. The choice is yours. For a more relaxing charter, look no further than Antigua’s 365 beaches, most of which are in protected harbors with soft white sand and shade-giving palm trees. A yacht charter itinerary for beach-lovers can include circumnavigating Antigua to enjoy different beaches each day.

GLAMOUR MEETS EDEN Gustavia Harbour on St. Barth’s is a legendary destination for megayachts, which converge on the island each New Year’s Eve for the ultimate yacht-hop extravaganza. No more than 60 yachts can fit at the quay, which, given the number of yachts available for Caribbean charters each winter, puts securing a berth on par with snagging a prime reservation at a top-rated Michelin restaurant.Yachts up to 200 feet long are welcome, creating a star-studded scene featuring many of the finest

Just steps away from Gustavia Harbour is one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the Caribbean. Fashionistas will find everything from Cartier creations to local designs, with “island chic” versions of clothing, handbags, shoes, jewelry and more. Where else in the world can you sample diamond watches and necklaces while wearing a bikini top and silk sarong? You may don your glamorous finds a short taxi ride away at St. Jean Beach, one of 14 sandy stretches on St. Barth’s. St. Jean Beach is home to the Eden Rock Hotel, where a canvas-covered restaurant turns the impossibly blue sea views into walls with endless horizons. After the sun sets, enjoy the nightlife onshore or return to your charter yacht for a private evening of dining.Take your after-dinner drinks up to the sun deck for a bird’s-eye view of the beautiful people out and about on the quay.

TWO ISLANDS IN ONE Sint Maarten is the wintertime home to many of the world’s most impressive megayachts. The well-established Simpson Bay marinas are less than a 15-minute drive from the international airport, which is so close to the island’s beaches that you can stand on the sand and have jet airplanes approach the runway just a few hundred feet above your head. Many yacht charter guests begin or end their itineraries at beach bars, toasting each incoming flight with a freshly made rum punch, as if at a private air show. The spelling Sint Maarten refers to the Dutch side of the island, where Simpson Bay is located. Itineraries can also include St. Martin, which is the spelling used to delineate the island’s French side. Both sides, like their mother countries, have personalities of their own. All the while, both areas offer a good variety of snorkeling, swimming and scuba diving sites, as well as opportunities for fishing, kite surfing, water skiing and more. On the Dutch side of the island, you will find beaches, discotheques and casinos filled with fun-loving tourists well into the wee hours. On the French side of the island, look for nude beaches and gourmet restaurants that specialize in everything from traditional French cuisine to Caribbean fusion. Shopping is available on both sides of the island, as are sandy white beaches with stunning views of the turquoise waters.

EASY-GOING CARIBBEAN St. Vincent and the Grenadines comprise the majority of the Windward Islands cruising region in the Caribbean. The archipelago stretches from north to south like a string of pearls pulled end-to-end, with each island offering unique experiences on shore. Bequia is a paradise of white sand beaches, charming restaurants and boutique shopping. Walk from the marina into town for a look at the wares being crafted by locals, or wander along the purpose-built promenade that lines the main harbor with unobstructed views of the sea. The ambiance is decidedly quieter on Mustique, where many visitors stay in private homes as opposed to large-scale hotels. Groves of palm trees alternate with stretches of green grass that are a favorite location for horseback riding. Watersports enthusiasts will particularly enjoy the Tobago Cays, a five-island stretch that is a national park and wildlife preserve. Leap from your charter yacht’s swim platform into crystalclear waters, or ride a few minutes in your yacht’s dinghy to snorkel with turtles that call the preserve home. At sunset, tender ashore to a grilled-lobster beach barbecue complete with white tablecloths and glowing candles atop picnic tables at the water’s edge. A TASTE OF ISLAND LIFE Grenada has experienced a recent influx of luxury marina development near the capital of St. George’s, where the city—a visage of villas and shops painted in pastel yellows, pinks and whites— climbs upward from the aquamarine harbor in the style of the French Riviera. Cruising into St. George’s Harbour is an experience unto itself, with the sprawling blues of the Caribbean Sea giving way to the bustle and hum of civilized island life. Experiences within nature are a hallmark of any yacht charter on Grenada. The island’s interior includes a tropical rain forest where guided hiking tours lead you to St. Margaret’s Falls. A series of waterfalls cascade into irresistible fresh-water swimming holes. Cool off with a swim in the natural pools before returning to the wooded trails and their stunning views. If natural foods are more your style, then a visit to the Grenada Chocolate Company is in order. Watch as the locals bring freshly grown cocoa to the open-air factory for processing. The traditional methods they use have attracted world-famous chocolatiers from Belgium to buy their primary ingredient here. The beans fermenting in wooden stalls give off a whiff of alcohol. Like the women who have worked here for decades, you can “turn the beans” by walking barefoot through them. Organic dark chocolate bars from the boutique make great take-home souvenirs. Of course, Grenada also offers sandy beaches, memorable snorkeling and plenty of secluded bays. Any yacht charter itinerary can alternate experiences on shore with relaxation at anchor.

BEAUX ARTS BY THE SEA A handful of ports in the Western Mediterranean act as magnets for the world’s largest and most impressive charter yachts. Monaco is foremost among them. Like Antibes and Saint-Tropez, Monaco is a center of glitterati and paparazzi. Hollywood stars, business titans and royal families alike converge here each summer to bask in the sunshine as well as the aura of importance. The premier time to charter a yacht in Monaco is during the Grand Prix in May, when the local streets transform into one of the world’s most renowned Formula One racetracks. The largest charter yachts offer private, unobstructed views of the race from their sun decks in the harbor, with high-definition televisions tuned to the celebrations ashore. Enjoy gourmet meals prepared by your charter yacht’s chef while other spectators wait in line for tables at restaurants in town. Celebrate race-day winners while lounging in your yacht’s hot tub instead of having to nudge your way through the crowds in the streets. Beyond Grand Prix week, Monaco offers summer-long luxury shopping, dining and gambling. Everyday dress on this city’s streets is elegant, with diamonds and stiletto heels worn for trips to the local bread shops. The Monte-Carlo Casino is a grand Beaux Arts structure designed by the same architect who penned the Paris opera, and is worth a visit for a look at its elegance alone. You may enjoy imagining that you’re visiting the casino alongside its most famous pop-culture visitor: superspy 007 James Bond.

MUST SEE AND BE SEEN The South of France is the world’s most popular yacht charter region. The largest, most significant charter yachts call this region home from May through October, serving as much as a scenic backdrop as the historic cities and mountainous landscapes on shore. Locals know many of the megayachts by name, just as residents of London and Manhattan know important buildings by their façades. At the same time, global yacht-spotters are frequently seen with long-lens cameras in hand, striving for photographs of the newest and most impressive launches into the global yachting scene. Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Antibes, Nice and Villefranche are popular ports along any South of France yacht charter itinerary. Each offers historic buildings, open-air markets, fine dining, exquisite shopping, sandy beaches, thumping discotheques and more. You can stroll through the old town centers with their crooked, cobblestone alleyways and tiny, renovated shops, or indulge in the most elegant of modern boutiques and eateries. From dawn until, well, the next dawn, the South of France is alive with all kinds of activity. July and August are the prime months for yacht charter here, known as the “high season” when many charter yachts command premium rates. If you are interested in chartering an important new launch or a well-respected megayacht, consider booking at least six months in advance. Some of the most popular luxury yachts in this region are booked as much as a year in advance, with repeat clients wanting to ensure their level of prestige on the cruising scene.

THE ITALIAN RIVIERA Cinque Terre means “The Five Lands” and comprises five villages along Italy’s northwestern coast. Footpaths and boats are the primary sources of transportation among the villages, whose steep mountainsides climb out of the Mediterranean Sea in an impressive display of grandeur. Begin your yacht charter itinerary to the north, in the easily accessible city of Genoa, and then cruise south to explore the charm within each of the Cinque Terre’s villages. Stop by the bread shops when fresh rolls come out of the oven just after sunrise, or sip a midday espresso at a waterfront café. Marvel at the views of colorful villages that have grown up and around sheltered harbors carved into the coast. Also in this region are the towns of Santa Margherita and Portofino, which offer yet more beautiful harbors to explore. Cruising into Portofino, in particular, is a yachting experience not to be missed. Only three or four megayachts can fit in Portofino’s harbor at any given time, making the charter guests on board feel luckier than any winner at the Monte-Carlo Casino. Add a bit of history to your itinerary in the Cinque Terre region with a visit to the island of Elba, which lies just offshore in the Tuscan archipelago. Elba is where Napoleon was exiled for nearly a year in the early 1800s. Walk along the stone walls that once housed him and the several hundred troops who stayed with him, looking out at the sea views that have changed little in the two centuries since.

LUXURIOUS AUTHENTICITY The Amalfi Coast is an enclave of wealth and prestige tucked along Italy’s southwestern coast, within cruising distance of Naples. Begin your yacht charter vacation in the city where pizza was born and where the historic city center is still the largest in all of Europe—perfect for exploring Neapolitan architecture and cuisine alike. Take another day to explore the nearby ruins of Pompeii, a Roman city that was destroyed in the two-day eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. and remained buried beneath ash for the next 1,500 years. Your yacht charter can include pre-arranged, privately guided tours apart from the regular crowds. When you have had your fill of cities past and present, your charter yacht captain will set a course for the picturesque towns of the Amalfi Coast. Many of the towns are former fishing villages that evolved into modern-day tourism hubs, retaining their authentic charm while adding fine dining, boutique shopping and charming cafés. Get lost for a few hours on the old stone streets, peeking down narrow alleyways where generations-old family shops sell everything from olive tapenade to wooden cutting boards. Your yacht will dock or anchor alongside traditional working boats, many of them built of wood and painted by hand. A HISTORIC MELTING POT Corsica is a French island that is actually closer to the western coast of Italy than to the southern coast of France. It can be part of a yacht charter itinerary beginning in the South of France, in the Cinque Terre, in the Amalfi Coast or on the island of Sardinia—or Corsica can become a destination unto itself with a circumnavigation of the island. No matter which way you choose to explore Corsica, expect to discover historic cities, picturesque harbors and charming villages filled with authentic boutiques and family-run restaurants. Calvi is one city that is wonderful to visit by way of charter yacht. The locals will tell you that this is where the explorer Christopher Columbus was born—as evidence, they will show you his bust mounted within one of the old city walls. Whether or not the legend is true, it helps to explain the affection that Corsicans feel toward the Italian city of Genoa. The two cultures blend here in a mix of food and architecture that feels immensely authentic in broad Mediterranean style. Also a must-visit city is Bonifacio, whose stone buildings stand like sentries atop centuries-old cliff sides. Your charter yacht will cruise past this incredible façade and into the channel that leads to the town itself, where marinas teeming with local boats and shops line the entrance on both sides. Once your yacht is tied to the dock, you can step ashore for a tour of the old city atop the cliff, where even the cemetery is fascinating thanks to its majestic mausoleums.

SEDUCTIVE COSTA SMERALDA Sardinia is an Italian island that lies south of Corsica and north of Sicily, due west of Naples on Italy’s mainland. A yacht charter itinerary can include Sardinia alone, or can pair a visit to this island with destinations on Corsica. Many charter clients enjoy touring Sardinia before cruising to Corsica’s historic southern city of Bonifacio, which lies just across the Strait of Bonifacio that separates the two isles. On Sardinia, you will find modern-day culture alongside historic ruins, traditional architecture and glamorous beach towns. A yacht charter here can truly be whatever you want it to be, depending on your personal interests. Sun-worshipers will especially enjoy Sardinia’s Emerald Coast, also known as the Costa Smeralda. Here, endless stretches of white, sandy beaches sit beneath spectacular, mountainous landscapes that tower above the protected aquamarine waters. Luxury golf, polo fields, private jet and helicopter service, and world-class dining are all available on shore. The high level of service and substantive display of wealth lure many of the world’s most impressive megayachts, including those available for charter each summer. If your yacht charter is during the month of September, consider a few days of sailing or spectating at the Sardinia Cup regatta. Teams representing multiple nations are usually on hand to compete, with top-notch sailors going nose-to-nose around the markers at top speeds. The regatta’s host is the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, a gateway to the city of Porto Cervo, where the luxury marina includes a village center with shopping.

UNRULY BEAUTY The Italian island of Sicily is the largest in the Mediterranean Sea. Yacht charter itineraries here typically are circumnavigations, since the island stands apart geographically from other regional islands such as Corsica and Sardinia. Volcanoes make Sicily memorable as a unique charter destination. One of the must-visit sites on Sicily is Mount Etna, which is the largest active volcano in all of Europe. Reaching more than 10,000 feet above sea level, Mount Etna is the tallest mountain in Italy south of the Alps. It is almost constantly erupting, creating a fertile layer of volcanic soil that supports spectacular orchards and vineyards providing the local restaurants on shore with fresh produce. Your yacht charter itinerary can also include a short cruise from Sicily to the Aeolian Islands, which are just north of Sicily. These islands include Stromboli, which also boasts an active volcano. Minor eruptions occur almost constantly and are easily visible from the safety of your charter yacht’s sun deck. Sit in the hot tub after sunset and sip a fine Italian Barolo or Brunello while you watch nature’s fireworks display in the distance. After the show, retire to a dinner of chicken or veal Marsala prepared by your yacht’s chef with locally grown and bottled Marsala wine.

PRISTINE MEDITERRANEAN Croatia yacht charters can begin in the coastal city of Dubrovnik or across the Adriatic Sea in Venice, Italy. Either metropolitan area offers a chance to explore historic buildings, churches and alleyways before setting course for the Croatian islands—a minimally developed archipelago that many yacht captains call “the Mediterranean as it once was” in comparison to the bustling South of France. The Croatian islands are a destination where you can truly escape and be free from paparazzi, artificial light and the din of civilization. Aboard faster charter yachts, the Croatian isles can be reached from Venice in a matter of a few hours. The islands of Croatia—and there are more than a thousand of them—stretch in a north-to-south line along the nation’s western boundary. Most of the islands are small and uninhabited, which makes them perfect for exploring by way of your charter yacht’s tender. Go ashore to look for shells, take a swim or enjoy a beach barbecue in harbors where you are truly alone with nature. Enjoy crystal-clear waters that have yet to be spoiled by over-fishing or pollution, and that are welcoming and warm well into the autumn months. Snorkel from your charter yacht’s swim platform directly above pristine underwater formations. Among the islands where civilization has landed, you can find national parks and shops selling locally made sheep’s cheese and lace. However, you need not cruise far to find unspoiled vistas. For instance, the Elaphite chain, which is close to Dubrovnik, is automobile-free. Explore the beaches and trails by day before visiting the handful of luxury resorts at night, or return to your charter yacht for private, five-star service as you cruise with mesmerizing views to the next set of isles along the coast.

GREECE–AEGEAN ISLANDS

REVISIT THE GREEK CLASSICS The Aegean Islands are the closest archipelago to the Greek capital of Athens, making a land-based tour of the historic city an option at either the beginning or the end of your yacht charter itinerary. Explore the Parthenon and Ancient Agora before embarking at the marina of Piraeus, which is within easy cruising distance of the Aegean archipelago. Ancient ruins are available for exploring on many of the islands, only without the long lines and waits that accompany more famous sites in Athens. On Aegina, for instance, a beautifully preserved temple awaits. With no more than a handful of people at a time, you may approach the standing columns and marble steps just as the sandal-footed worshipers did centuries ago. The Aegean island of Hydra offers one of the most picturesque harbors in the whole of the Eastern Mediterranean, with just a handful of spots at the quay for megayachts to tie up. Watch with an eagle-eye view from the sun deck as the captain and crew maneuver your charter yacht into the bustling harbor, with traditional fishing boats zipping to and fro. Step off the yacht’s passerelle and meander the narrow alleyways where donkeys and mules replace cars as the source of transportation. Stop for a feta and tomato salad in a local café, sip on a shot glass filled with the local favorite known as ouzo, or climb the seemingly endless stone steps that lead high above the marina for a spectacular view of the sunset.

MEDIEVAL GREECE Greece’s Dodecanese archipelago is far to the east. The Dodecanese, because of their location, are less traveled by charter yachts than the Aegean chain near Athens, yet they offer a lovely mixture of civilization and natural highlights. Rhodes is the most famous of the Dodecanese islands, with a walled city that dates to Medieval times. It is one of the best preserved of its genre in the world and inspires visitors to look up in awe, as if gazing at skyscrapers. Entering the walled city of Rhodes feels like stepping into a time capsule where it is easy to imagine drawbridges, kings and heroines. The uneven stone walkways feel ancient beneath your feet as you make your way into what once was the town square, and what today is a shopping mecca full of trinkets, jewelry and other souvenirs. For a quieter experience in the Dodecanese, your charter yacht can set course to the island of Symi. Its harbor is one of the most picturesque in all of the Greek isles, with the reflections from yellow, orange and pink villas creating a rippling path through which your charter yacht can slowly motor to the quay. Pay a visit to St. Michael’s Monastery, named for the patron saint of sailors in the region. The onsite museum includes countless bottles filled with written prayers that were tossed off of boats and that floated by way of the tides to the monastery’s doorstep.

A CRUISE THROUGH HISTORY The Southwestern coast of Turkey between the cities of Bodrum and Goçek is the nation’s primary yacht charter region. This rugged stretch of coastline is so close to Greece’s Dodecanese Islands that they are often visible without the use of binoculars. Modern megayachts ply the waters alongside Turkey’s traditional gulets, which are motorsailing yachts noted for their leisurely speeds and comfortable stability. Like neighboring Greece,Turkey offers a wealth of ancient sites to explore, traditions to learn and culture to enjoy. In the port cities such as Marmaris, cafés and restaurants are just steps away from the marinas. Continue into the center of each town to find its bazaar, which bustles with activity from noon until well after dinnertime. Haggling is practically a national sport, with everything from hand-loomed rugs to handcrafted leather goods offered for sale. Many shopkeepers will offer you a hot or chilled cup of apple tea to whet your appetite for a sizable purchase. Other port cities are historic echoes of their former selves, with the ruins of ancient buildings and amphitheaters pushing right up against the shore. In Knidos, for instance, your charter yacht can anchor within swimming distance of an amphitheater that served as the center of city culture many centuries ago. Climb to the top and take a seat on the crumbling stone slabs as you imagine the voices of playwrights and singers carrying across the stage to the sea. In the near distance, you will see your charter yacht, much as seagoing sailors of ancient times saw their own boats in the same harbor.

A DIFFERENT TAKE ON STAYCATIONS New England in many ways is the birthplace of boating in America, as well as America itself, and a natural for leisurely summer cruising. Diverse and authentically charming, the region offers a taste of big city life one day and Norman Rockwell’s Small Town America the next. Dock within feet of Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall and enjoy everything Boston has to offer, including the perfectly named Museum of Fine Arts and restaurants offering everything from haute cuisine to broiled lobster with slaw and fries. Moor off Martha’s Vineyard the next day for a complete change of pace. Walk through towns teeming with people and shops or walk lovely beaches and cast a line for fishing, filling your lungs with invigorating salty air in Nantucket. Enjoy authentic New England architecture in Block Island and historic mansions in Newport. Southern New England alone is a colorful and diverse palette. But venture further north to Maine, captured in Andrew Wyeth’s watercolors, to discover more dramatic coastline, charming villages and wind-swept islands. Art. Architecture. Beaches. Cliffs. Golf. History. Museums. Shopping. Whale watching. It’s all on the menu from Rhode Island to Maine.

GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE If you are in the mood to venture further afield, know it is possible to find private yachts available for charter in nearly every remote area of the world. Yachts today more often than not, have long range cruising capabilities and while the majority of yacht charters take place in New England, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean, there are most definitely yachts available for charter in far flung exotic places (warm or cold in the southern or northern hemisphere). Ask your broker who is cruising off the beaten path this season.
