Subject: Steering Shaft

Affected Models/VIN: All 2002 440 Sno Pro Models All 2003 Firecat 500/600/700, Firecat 700 Sno Pro, and 440 Sno Pro Models All 2004 Firecat 500/600/700 (STD and Sno Pro) and Sabercat 500/600/700 Models All 2005 Firecat 500/600/700 (STD and Sno Pro), M5/M6/M7, and Sabercat 500/600/700 Models All 2006 Crossfire 600/700, Firecat 500/600/700, Firecat 700 Sno Pro, Sabercat 500/600/700, and the M-Series (VIN Range of 4UF06SNWX6T100985 - 4UF06SNW26T128280 and the VIN Range of 4UF06SNW16T900039 - 4UF06SNW06T900064). „ NOTE: The VIN ranges of 4UF06SNWX6T100985 - 4UF06SNW26T128280 and 4UF06SNW16T9000394UF06SNW06T900064 apply to all the 2006 models listed above. For identification purposes, it is necessary to refer to only the last six digits of the VIN.

What is the reason for this notice? In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Arctic Cat is voluntarily recalling 78,872 snowmobiles equipped with Steering Shaft (p/n 0705-397). What is the problem? The steering shaft on the affected models may not be adequately welded to the steering arm shaft. If this condition exists, the steering shaft may come loose from the steering shaft arm resulting in a loss of steering control. Stop Sale Immediately of all 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 snowmobiles indicated in the affected model list above.

! WARNING Do not operate or permit anyone to operate a snowmobile until the steering shaft has been updated. Severe personal injury may result if the steering shaft comes loose and loss of control occurs.

What should you do? Update all affected snowmobiles still at your dealership. All registered owners of affected snowmobiles will be sent a letter concerning this Product Safety Recall Bulletin (letter enclosed). If a customer contacts you concerning this issue, please assist them in completing the necessary update. Ordering Parts: Order an appropriate number of Steering Shaft Reinforcement Assembly Kits (p/n 1705-200) through normal parts-ordering channels. Your dealership Parts Account will be billed and then credited upon receipt of a Warranty Claim Request form. Warranty: A labor allowance of 0.2 hr will be paid per affected snowmobile.

Quelle est la raison de cet avis? En collaboration avec le Départment de Transport Canadien, Arctic Cat rappelle volontairement 78,872 motoneiges munies de l’arbre de direction (n/p 0705-397).

Quel est le problème? L´arbre de direction des modèles concernés peut ne pas être adéquatement soudée sur l´arbre du bras de direction. Si cette condition existe, l´arbre de direction peut devenir lâche et causer une perte de contrôle de la direction.

Arrêtez immédiatement la vente de toutes les motoneiges 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 et 2006 indiquées dans la liste des modèles inscrits ci-haut.

! AVERTISSEMENT N´opérez pas ou ne permettez à quiconque d´opérer une motoneige jusqu´à ce que l´arbre de direction ait été actualisé. Des blessures sévères à la personne peuvent se produire si l´arbre de direction devient lâche et qu´une perte de contrôle se produit.

Que devrais-je faire? Actualisez toutes les motoneiges concernées qui se trouvent à votre concessionnaire. Tous les propriétaires enregistrés de motoneiges concernées recevront une lettre concernant ce bulletin de rappel sur la sécurité du produit (lettre ci-jointe). Si un client communique avec vous concernant ce problème, veuillez l´assister avec cette actualisation nécessaire.

Commandes de Pièces : Commandez un nombre approprié de Trousses de Montage de Renforcement d´Arbre de Direction (n/p 1705-200) en passant par les voies de commande de pièces normales. Votre compte de pièces de concessionnaire sera facturé et ensuite crédité lors de la Réception du Formulaire de Demande de Réclamation de Garantie.

Garantie : Une allocation de main-d´oeuvre de 0,2 h sera payée par motoneige concernée.
