European Conference Mental Health, Refugees & Migration 24th May 2018, Athens Greece
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The Conference ENTER’s 2018 conference in Athens Greece, will focus on the plight of refugees and their mental health. The situations that people are fleeing from generate mental health problems: unemployment, hunger, religious persecution, no future, war...). The very act of fleeing can also create mental health problems; moving, arriving in a new setting, adapting to a different culture, being victims of racism. Parallels can also be drawn with people with mental health problems fleeing from their local communities. There will be sessions on the following topics: 1. Racism and mental health 2. Mental health epidemiology in migrant and refugee populations 3. Best practice of mental health promotion and treatment in migrant and refugee populations 4. Overview of tools for measuring and evaluating mental health issues in migrant and refugee populations.
5. Training for mental health professionals working with migrant and refugee populations.
