Call for the Development of ANDI Knowledge Management Database Closing date for receipt of applications: 30 September 2016 BACKGROUND: ANDI is a pan – African initiative with the vision to create a sustainable platform for health innovation in Africa to address the health challenges of the continent and populations in need. ANDI’s new Strategic Plan (Facilitating Health Innovation in Africa-ANDI Strategic Plan (20162020) stresses the role of ANDI in promoting open innovation and partnership for technology development and access in Africa through an integrated Knowledge Management platform. ANDI is seeking to develop an open and interactive knowledge platform or database that aims at sharing and exchanging information on technologies that can transform health care delivery in Africa. OBJECTIVE OF THE CALL: 

To identify an experienced ICT or knowledge management firm in the development of the Knowledge Management Platform. Firms that are willing to provide the support at very competitive cost or provide significant in kind support are particularly encouraged to apply.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PLATFORM: The ANDI knowledge database will serve as an open innovation platform to support data management, information sharing and exchange, as well as networking among partners and centres of excellence. The database design should accommodate the following uses:    

Storage and retrieval of prioritized life-saving local technologies (in areas of diagnostics, drugs and medical devices, etc.) Portfolio of funded projects. Database of capacities and consultants in various areas of the product value chain. Standard operating procedures and protocols on technology development as well as open access tools, and links to other relevant databases (e.g., patents, patent pools, etc.). Calls for proposals, Centres of Excellence in Africa, grand challenges, collaborative and partnership opportunities, etc. Communities of Practice in health innovation Relevant policies, guidelines and global discourse on health innovation.

ANDI is hosted by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) based on an agreement between UNOPS and the World Health Organization (WHO)

How to Apply: Interested Firms should approach ANDI (using the emails below) with a maximum of 2 page response that highlights the following: 1. Name, address and primary contact of the Firm. 2. Brief description of prior experience in developing databases, software and webbased applications. 3. Brief technical detail on how they intend to develop the platform. 4.
