National Hockey Week has been and gone. Unfortunately due to the wet we had to cancel our Saturday festivities until the 18th June. Come along and meet our sponsors and your favourite volunteers . RHA is hosting a First Aid Course and we are still looking for expressions of interest from anyone who would like to participate. Please email me if you are interested, more info to come once we have the numbers. Holiday Development Program for 14s/15s/16s. An email was sent to everyone in this age group this week, please respond so we can plan the program to be held on the 30th June and 1st July. Keep watching for more details and let
[email protected] or
[email protected] know if you are interested.
UMPIRES - Click here to see if you are on umpire duty this week. This is a reminder that this Saturday we have the second of our 3 Technical Assessment days for the season. You only need to do one, so if you feel you are not ready for this week, don’t worry; the final technical test day for 2016 is scheduled during August. There is a choice of 2 technical tests - 1/2 field and Full field. 1/2 field is aimed for you young umpires wishing to graduate from being mentored, to umpiring an U9’s game on your own. Full field covers the U12’s games (possibly initially being mentored whilst umpiring), eventually leading to umpir-
ing on your own the U16’s and Senior games. For the full field test, please let Richard know what level you would like to aim for (RHA level 2, 3 or 4). It’s the same technical test, only the % pass mark increases with each level. Level 4 is tough to get. We will confirm the correct level you should be aiming to achieve, based on your current level. The test will take approximately 40-45 mins, if you don’t get distracted! Have a go - you will find that you know more than you thought you did! To back up the technical test, you will also undergo 2 to 3 practical assessments over the coming weeks, depending on the RHA level you are wanting to achieve. You will then be awarded your final mark and the RHA level that you have attained. You can re-take a technical test if you wish - the idea is to elevate your standards, not to fail you. You can climb more than 1 level during the season by taking further assessments.
We look forward to hearing from you by COB Thursday 09/06/16, should you want to do your technical assessment this Saturday. Come and find me at the Central Tech Bench area. Thanks and kind regards, Richard

As the fields are quite soft, please consider where you are training this week? The goal areas shouldn’t be used at all. We hope to have the new goals at the back of F4 in place for training next week. Council is organising a soil test at Henry Ziegenfusz Park field 3, the contractor needs 2 days of drilling at field 3 and we are aiming to schedule this for Monday 13 th and Tuesday 14th June . Have you noticed the extra set of goals at the fields, thanks to Ian Hall and his crew at Quality Processing Services Pty Ltd. QPS sponsor the Under 9 Gold team.

BSB 633-000 Acct 1314-60669 Ref: Surname and team chocolates went out under. We still have some boxes to sell due to some late decisions made by some families who didn’t want chocolates. If you can take any to sell please let me know and call past the Fundraising Desk on Saturday to collect. Don’t forget you receive a credit on your volunteer levy for every box you sell and the family who sells the most wins the $50 Rebel Sports gift card. Money for these additional boxes will be due back by Saturday, 9 July. Car Rally Last, but definitely not least we are holding our Inaugural Car Rally Treasure Hunt this Sunday at the fields. It will be a great family fun day out and not only could you learn something about our beautiful Redlands, but you might win a prize or two as well. Check out the flyer for all the details and the optional categories for prizes. There will be a Cake Stall and BBQ at the car rally and we are asking all rep parents to bake something for the cake stall. You can bring your items in on Saturday or Sunday as it will save us some time Sunday morning when preparing for the event if we can have them all priced up the day before. As there is also an U13 carnival on at the fields this Sunday we may be able to sell a lot more cakes. If you are planning on watching your child play in the carnival perhaps you could plan to roster yourself on for a little while when they’re not playing. We are also looking for people who can help out with the following jobs:
Setting up gazebos, tables, chairs, signs, banners, witches hats
Setting up BBQ stall including preparing drinks and food for sale
Setting up the Cake stall
Manning the Registration and Check In desks, BBQ stall and cake stall
Car park marshals
Pulling down at the end of the event and other small jobs as necessary
If you can help with any of this from around 8.30am on Sunday through to around 2.30pm please contact me on 0419 197 396 or
[email protected]. Don’t forget any hours you do for this event will also contribute to your volunteer credits. In the event of the weather turning nasty, please check the Facebook page early Sunday morning in case we have to postpone the car rally.
Thanks.
Don’t forget the Triaction by Triumph promotion on Sports Bras.

Met East Back in March we began the process of selecting players to compete in the Met East trials on 28 April. The players came from all the local schools to participate in two trial days where 2 teams of girls and boys were selected for the district team, they trained for a few weeks then headed off to a day at the State Hockey Centre where they played numerous games during the day against other districts in the metropolitan east Brisbane. At the end of the day boys and girls were selected to join the Met East Team, one of 12 regions throughout Qld, to compete in the Under 12s Primary School Championships to be held on the Sunshine Coast from the 16th June to 19th June. Congratulations goes to our own Redlands hockey members who made the team: Aaron Pederson; Ryan Tully, Haydon Tully, Campbell Garner, Noah Kubenk and Tyler Christenson as goalkeeper for the boys team, Charli Mackinder, Charli Woosnam and Sinead Swartz for the girls team. Congratulations also to Jay Woosnam and Brooke Addison who were selected as the team umpires. Good luck kids and can’t wait to hear your stories when you return…….
The trial matches between Gold Coast and Redlands Hockey U13 rep teams is back on this Sunday 12th June. If you would like to come down and watch the girls play at 9.00am and 11.30am and the boys play at 10.15am and 12.45 pm. Would be great to support our teams.
