RESPONSIBILITIES Events Assist with setting up and facilitating focus group Provide MPA Career Services technical and logistical support for events Staff MPA Career Services activities that occur during normal business hours and evening hours Graphics & Marketing Assist with creating flyers, posters, and PowerPoint slides to inform and encourage student participation in MPA Career Services activities Research and implement effective methods to market and deliver services to students Assist with maintaining a Face book group designated to connect with MPA students Communicate effectively to students, staff, corporate recruiters, and outside vendors Produce/cut short videos or movies designed to educate students on MPA Career Services activates and resources Databases & Surveys Input and maintain student/alumni data collected from LinkedIn as well as employer contacts Build functions and reports in Access to capture information, and create procedures and standards for maintaining data integrity Utilize Qualtrics and other survey tools to create and collect student satisfaction surveys and statistics for career workshops, panels, and events Create Excel functions and formulas to help with the compiling of student and alumni statistics Administrative Post information to the MPA Weekly Blog Provide front reception support when necessary Provide support to other full-time staff as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferably a 3rd year MPA student (no internship requirement) Able to work at least in a 3-hour block for a total of at least 10 hours per week Familiar with MPA Career Services programs and resources Desire to promote the MPA Program and develop MPA students Able to commit preferably for two semesters Able to work effectively with minimal supervision Able to work independently and on a team Good standing within the MPA Program, in general and academic Receptive to feedback Demonstrates a desire to learn Maintains confidentiality of information Exhibits exceptional professionalism, including attire and conduct
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experienced/involved/interested in the recruiting process with a multitude of employers, including industry, public service, consulting, financial services, and public accounting Familiar with Web 2.0 concepts of information sharing, interaction, collaboration, and usergenerated content Familiar with and/or a willingness to learn some of the following technical programs/applications: o MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher) o Adobe Creative Software (Photoshop, inDesign) o Audio/Video Editing (iMovie, FinalCut Pro, Garage Band/Podcasts) o Social Media/Networking (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) o Other (Symplicity/OCR, Sitecore, Qualtrics, WordPress) SUPERVISION Reports to MPA Career Consultant Meets regularly with supervisor for updates and additional training Formal evaluation each long semester COMPENSATION Paid student position, dependent upon experience Appointment is semester by semester
