Machine Refurbishment
CASE STUDY Special Purpose Equipment The project was to refurbish and rebuild two Automated Bundling machines, used to support offshore cable laying activities. This is an arduous environment and following years of operational use the machines were severely corroded and in need of full refurbishment. Engineers fully dissembled the machine to replace or rework all items back to the original standard, with the whole machine being reverse engineered to produce a set of working drawings to enable this process to take place. All items needed to be stripped and painted to BS EN ISO 12944 suitable for the environment the machines are to operate in. Critical components were Non-Destructive Tested (NDT) to Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Reg’s 1998.
Following extensive FAT and SAT the machines were installed onto the ship they are to operate from.

The refurbishment included replacing the electrical control panel and machine wiring, including new Siemens drive system and upgrading to conform with BS EN ISO 13849-1:2008.
