Cell Transplantation: New Changes for the End of the Century T h i s issue of Cell Transplantation ( C T ) m a r k s a sig nificant c h a n g e for t h e Journal. A s w e enter o u r eighth year, you will notice that there is a n e w l o o k and a n e w publisher. In s o m e w a y s w e h a v e g o n e full circle. M r . R o b e r t M i r a n d a , the President of C o g n i z a n t C o m m u n i cation Corporation ( C C C ) , w a s the senior executive at P e r g a m o n Press, Inc. w h o started Cell Transplantation. D u r i n g t h e acquisition of P e r g a m o n b y Elsevier Science, Inc., M r . M i r a n d a b e g a n C C C . A few years later w e are again u n d e r his g u i d a n c e a n d direction. T h i s is exciting b e c a u s e h e brings a n u m b e r of n e w c h a n g e s that should g i v e C T a c o n t i n u e d p u s h t o w a r d increased p r o m i n e n c e in the field.

W e are also looking forward to the A n n u a l A m e r i c a n Society for N e u r a l Transplantation a n d R e p a i r m e e t i n g held in Clearwater, F L , April 2 9 - M a y 2, 1999. T h e President this year is Dr. O l e Isacson. T h e A S N T R re cently c h a n g e d its n a m e to add R e p a i r at the e n d to m o r e fully reflect its m e m b e r s h i p and the relationship b e t w e e n the therapeutic a p p r o a c h e s involving administering cells, d r u g s , or g e n e s to the n e r v o u s system.

T h e pictures that will a p p e a r will b e taken from articles or events p u b lished in that specific issue. W e are p l e a s e d to a n n o u n c e that h e h a s b e e n ap p o i n t e d as the n e w Co-Editor-in-Chief. A s Dr. Ricordi b e c o m e s m o r e involved during the year w e anticipate a n n o u n c i n g additional c h a n g e s .
A s w e enter the last year of the 20th century w e can b e p r o u d in the fact that Cell Transplantation has c o n t i n u e d to g r o w in reputation and in p u b l i s h i n g i m p o r tant articles in a field all of us h o p e will p r o v i d e i m p o r tant therapeutic applications in t h e n e w m i l l e n n i u m .
New Section Editor: Dr. Ball has b e e n a p p o i n t e d as t h e n e w Section Editor of a revised Section n o w called " S t e m Cells, Progenitors, and B o n e M a r r o w . " W e h o p e that this section will attract important articles in the g r o w i n g area of stem cells for various o r g a n s and tissues throughout the body.
