IMMEDIATE Opening for Intake Coordinator Grameen America is a nonprofit microfinance institution headquartered in New York. Our mission is to alleviate poverty through entrepreneurship by offering loans, savings programs, credit establishment, and financial services to low-income families and individuals in the U.S. Founded in 2008 by Nobel Peace Prize recipient Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Grameen America is modeled after the success of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh and its pioneering work in poverty alleviation and establishing “credit as a human right”. Grameen America launched its first branch office in Queens, New York in January 2008 and has since expanded our services across New York City and in Indianapolis (IN), Omaha (NE), the San Francisco Bay Area (CA), Charlotte (NC), and Los Angeles (CA). Expansion efforts are also underway in numerous new markets around the country. Since its inception, Grameen America has disbursed over $120 million in micro-loans to more than 20,000 members in the United States who live below the poverty line. Grameen America is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, reliable and detail-oriented Intake Coordinator to be the primary liaison between Grameen America, its partner organization and the Union City, New Jersey Branch location. The Intake Coordinator will be based in the development office in midtown Manhattan, but will travel regularly to the Union City, New Jersey branch in order to conduct Intake Meetings. The Intake Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining sensitive records relating to ongoing special research projects, oversee the Intake Process at the Union City Branch, meet with borrowers, and input sensitive research data into the research database. The Intake Coordinator role is a full-time, permanent position and will be compensated with an annual salary and benefits commensurate with experience. Tasks include, but are not limited to: Responsibilities 1) Work collaborative with Grameen America and its partner organization; 2) Oversee completion of Intake documents by borrowers and research participants; 3) Conduct Intake Meetings and prepare relevant documentation; 4) Meet with borrowers on a weekly basis; 5) Enter research related data for review and analysis by Grameen America and its partner organizations; and 6) Develop a flexible schedule (Intake Coordinators must set their schedule based on the availability of borrowers and research participants). Qualifications  Bilingual: Fluent in Spanish and English;  Strong communication and problem solving skills;  Experience working with the low income communities;  Bachelor degree or equivalent preferred;  Computer skills: Excel, Internet, Databases;  Experience working with Databases and Research Data;  Comfort working in multicultural environments  Capacity to deal with ambiguity  Able and willing to use stairs, public transportation, and make daily visits to Borrower’s homes  Responsible, punctual, organized, and eager to learn How to Apply  Please send resume and cover letter to [email protected], with the subject line "Intake Coordinator;" Please note that due to the high number of expected applications for this position, we regret that we can only respond to candidates that we select for an interview.
