COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Introduction to International Business (5) Principles underlying international business; national policies influencing world trade and finance; and regional and international institutions. Prerequisite: either MGT 380 or MGT 382.

INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS/OBJECTIVES: To analyze international business and the multinational corporation. To become familiarized with international trade theory and policy. To focus on operational issues confronting the MNC through case study and analysis. To become familiar with the cultural and economic environments facing the MNC. To understand the determination of exchange rates and government influence on trade. CONDUCT OF COURSE: The course will be conducted in the standard lecture and case seminar format. The lectures will be based essentially upon the text. A term paper will be assigned for completion by all students and will be discussed in the class. Cases will be prepared for discussion on assigned due dates. GRADING:

ATTENDANCE:
Attendance will be taken on a daily basis. Students with two unexcused absences will be subject to being dropped from the course for lack of attendance.
MAKE-UP EXAMS/ETC:
Frequent unannounced quizzes will be given on the case assignments. In the case seminar the quiz will be based on the assigned reading or case for the day. There will be no make-up quizzes for any reason. Make-up exams will be given in emergency situations only with prior approval of the instructor. The midterm and final examinations will be based on the text, lectures, cases and readings. The final exam will be non-cumulative.

CWU Writing Center The College of Business Faculty wants to assist their students in assessing and developing their ability to communicate effectively in writing. Students in the course will submit a graded writing sample (a Case – TBA) and those whose grade is reduced by 20% for poor writing will be referred to the CWU Writing Center for free one-on-one sessions to assist in improving their spelling and grammar.
