Christian Dance Fellowship of South Africa KWAZULU NATAL CONFERENCE INFORMATION CDFSA Kwa Zulu Natal is excited to host a Provincial Dance Conference at Manning Road Methodist Church, Glenwood Durban, on the 18 & 19 May 2018. Conference Theme The Theme of the Conference is “ Praise Him in Dance ” as in Psalm 149:3 and Psalm 150:4. During this Conference, dancers will have an opportunity to freely praise Him in dance during the praise and worship sessions. You will also learn to use flags, swords, shields, ribbons and dance technique to enhance your expression of worship to the Lord Jesus Christ. Who May Attend? Dance Teachers and Dance Leaders are invited to attend the Living Dance International sessions covering Grade 3 & 4 syllabus as well as the Jazz & Contemporary style. Anyone who is interested in learning more about Christian Dance in all its various forms Young ( and not so young ) dancers who are keen to learn the hip hop dance style Our Assistant National Coordinator Serena Reddy Melo as well as Sue Hodson, a Founding Member of CDFSA and the Living Dance International SA representative, will be attending and teaching at this Conference. Anyone in South Africa may attend. We already have commitments from delegates from Port Shepstone, Richards Bay and Pietermaritzburg. PROGRAMME INFORMATION Friday 18th May 2018 : Living Dance International ( LDI ) Accredited Course offered by CDFSA. The Course will be presented by Sue Hodson from Cape Town who is one of the founding members of CDFSA and is the current SA representative for LDI. Sue will be teaching the LDI syllabus Grade 3 & 4 as well as the Jazz and Contemporary syllabus for Dance Teachers and Dance Leaders. The aim of the Course is to expose Teachers and Leaders to this NEW WAY of teaching ballet - “a syllabus with a MODERN FLEXIBILITY & SOPHISTICATION, drawing on the heritage of centuries past” – Beth Bluett. For experienced teachers there is no examination required to teach the work but you must have completed the course up to Grade 3. Students may want to enter the exam and work towards a qualification in teaching the LDI syllabus Christian Dance.
We encourage all dancers who want to learn the LDI syllabus to attend.
Josheldon Govender will be teaching the Kids Hip Hop on Friday Saturday 19th May 2018 Delegates will have to choose between two classes which will run concurrently on Saturday: 1. 2.
Expressive Dance and Dance Technique Class Ribbons and Flags, Swords & Shields
Everyone will be doing the Hip Hop class with Cuan Botha. Sharon Lourens is a motivational speaker and will be bringing the word . We will end off our Conference with groups presenting their dances with the emphasis on the “Word”. Dance Showcase We require a short synopsis of your dance as well as the music to be submitted prior to the presentation as this will feature in the programme. Full costume must be worn. This is to encourage other teams who might be new to Christian Dance. A dance Rehearsal time has been set for the Friday . Both days Tea, coffee and muffins will be on sale during tea time but please bring your own lunch / food / snack. There will also be a table selling Ribbons , Flags , Christian jewellery and CDFSA merchandise.
